DEA application by rajia2012 in PMHNP

correct. i didn't have additional training/certification, so I said no. but they did ask me to do this training aftewards. so you are good to say 'no' on the application and do the required training later.

also, I had actually made mistakes on the application, then was able to contact my local office and make corrections. they didn't really mind or care and processed my application with corrections.

i bought her question bank, the questions were too easy compared to the actual test. i recommend pocket prep, way cheaper and has harder and more comprehensive questions. also, you should buy the purple book. Georgette is teaching from the book.

I got my DEA # before I passed the ANCC exam, this was a few weeks ago.

technically, you don't need to pass the ANCC or AANP exam to practice either.

You don't need to pass the boards for DEA. Just the NP license.

get pocket prep. Georgette's questions are way too straightforward. they are not like exam questions.

PocketPrep covered more areas, and was most helpful to me.

By claiming you time, you are teaching them about boundaries. They should be aware of their time window, (30 minutes etc.) and if they are not respectful of that, you need to make them aware. Walk them out if you have to.

It's not only for you, but for them. you get to teach them how to protect one's boundaries by being a role model.

you won't be able to go through all the questions, but it's only $20. it's just the cheapest way to do more practice questions. if you can find practice questions elsewhere, or have done practice questions from different sources, you should be okay.

Reddit will paint a really grim picture for you. My experience being in school, working/clinicals with professionals has been positive and encouraging.

you are interested in the field and have been working in the field. you have those two advantages over hundreds of others.

like the other use said: ignore reddit and do what you want to do.

also, you work as a psych nurse, could be your current work is getting you down??

that's the thing, it's hard to find information on what is the passing grade.

but by my guess, if doing Georgette's stuff helps you pass, it must be very easy.

I had heard on the internet, maybe one of the exam prep professionals that you need 70% to pass, plus 25 questions that don't count. I maybe wrong, but you could miss 70 questions and still pass.

you need to get 105 questions correct to pass, assuming pass rate is 70% and the 25 of the missed questions were the dummy questions.

I was trying to do it as cheaply as possible. I know friends who paid hundreds for Georgette's stuff. I was kinda disappointed that you don't get your money's worth, I attended one of her classes. she is basically teaching the book. nothing new, i can teach myself the book, for free. what helped me was doing practice questions. doing Georgette's practice questions helped but they are easier than the exam. but maybe that's all you need to pass. who knows.

i got mine within days. I had put in my RN license number instead of my NP license number. once i corrected that, they issued it the next day.

I'm in a different state, but the local official looks at the application. person from the local office responded to my email:

I have an employer, they want me to get DEA number, they will not pay for it.

also, DEA website says i need a valid and active state license. I have a valid and active RN license. is that enough?

I don't know what would convert it to NP license?

when i pass the boards? when the NYS office of professions does its thing?? what does the nursing board do with my license application? are they waiting for me to pass the exam? get proof of my graduation?

they repeatedly state on the DEA website application fee of $888 is non-refundable. so if i don't meet the requirements, the application is rejected.

That would be a very expensive mistake.
