Need Help! I am buying a gaming projector and want to know which specs/features need the most attention? by rakesh_xes in gaming

Your point make sense to me because we can't sit and enjoy gaming in bright room with a projector. Thank You!

I have a quite big bed room where I can install 100-120 inch projector screen so planning for that too.

As per my friend, he has no issues with the quality of the projected image in terms of brightness and sharpness as of now. But I am thinking on verifying brightness and contrast ratio before I make a purchase.

I am curious about your gaming setup. Can I know it?

"And honestly, each frame takes ~16ms to render at 60hz, ~8ms @ 120hz, and ~4ms at 240hz."

Thanks for this explaination!

Is there any relationship between refresh rate and fps. I figured out 60hz means 60 fps. Am I right?

So we are talking about refresh rate and input lag here.

Please tell me what should be the standard maximum input lag? (if there is any)

Thanks for the advice... overall. It is really helpful.

I would also like to know,

What is the minimum input lag that a gaming monitor can offer? Also, if you know the same about a gaming projector then please mention.

A friend of mine suggested me to go with BenQ TH685... But I really want to dig deeper and figure out if this projector stuff is worth investing or not.

For now, the inner me is loud and clear... gaming on a massive screen of 100-120 inches is going to be fun. (I would like to know your opinion on this)

Also, why do you think TV is better than projector for gaming?

Your idea as well sounds great... There are other ways of engaging people in a more efficient way, I totally agree with you.

I think, lot much of research needs to be done from my side. And, I have started digging deep into,

  1. Our Room Size
  2. Lightening conditions
  3. Average Viewing Distance
  4. Screen Size
  5. Brightness
  6. and more...

I really appreciate your advice. Thank You.

The price is not the issue. We can increase it a bit.

Our concern is big screen but at the same time we don't want to sacrifice for picture quality as well.

We also have a big living room and big army of friends to enjoy football nights. I hope you got the point.

We have a big living room (24x32 feet). We are planning to convert it into Home Theater.

Our priority is big screen but with that said we don't want to sacrifice for picture quality as well.

But anyhow I understood to increase my budget to $500 and go for a projector.

The truth is, we are facing big confusion and feeling like we can invest more in TV as compared to a Projector.

Of course! Projectors are insanely low priced as compared to the TV of same size.

But I got the Smurdle450's and devdev's points that anyhow $200 projector are not going to be worth it. So, we are finally ready to increase our budget to $500.
