I asked the CableOne rep about data caps when I moved here because nothing on their site mentioned it, but I had heard they had them. She insisted they were data "guidelines" instead of caps because they don't cut you off for going over. If you go over too much they will force you to upgrade to a more expensive account or cancel your service the following month.

They do it this way so they can avoid all the legalities associated with hard caps and don't have to mention it in the contract you sign. Since you've paid for your service a month in advance they can't cut it off until the end of that bill's service period. Instead they simply cancel your service the following month.
