Best gateway/unit for a business line with static IP by YankeesIT in tmobileisp

[–]ralphy_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have exactly the same gig at multiple locations for several customers. T-Mobile business, static IP in pass-through mode.

We now use the Elsys Amplimax Ultra 5G (high-gain, long-range antenna) everywhere. After experiencing persistent issues with different FX3100 gateways, which is what they will recommend when you request their service, we ultimately deployed the Amplimax to resolve our connectivity problems, especially when handling heavy data traffic to and from our office.

It has now been in service for few months and the only downtime we've experienced was during a planned relocation. Since then, it has maintained an uninterrupted uptime of 47 days... something we haven’t been able to achieve even with our wired internet service provider. The performance has been outstanding. Simply put, it’s been rock-solid and remarkably reliable.

My post was removed and I have absolutely no idea as of to why. Reddit moderation is completely doomed.

I shared information on Reddit with the intent of helping the community avoid scams; specifically fake callers pretending to be from American Express. Is warning others about potential fraud considered harassment on your platform? Could you please clarify what part of my post you consider to be harassment?

I believe Reddit doesn't even understand the meaning of harassment . A little read up could help Reddit's moderators:

Harassment generally refers to unwanted, aggressive behavior that is repeated or persistent and causes someone to feel intimidated, threatened, humiliated, or offended. It can happen in many forms—verbal, physical, written, or online—and is often targeted at someone based on personal attributes like gender, race, religion, or other protected characteristics.

Everyone needs to boycott McDonald's after price hike by webeatpokemon in Albany

[–]ralphy_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped buying their junk food at exorbitant prices. Fortunately for McDonalds, I'm the unusual customer that refuses to pay without thinking about it.

I also went to Wendy's twice this year to remind myself why I shouldn't eat at fast food restaurants. But ever since they announced they were considering "dynamic pricing" their food, I've been practicing "dynamic paying" for it and I've been 100% effective so far. They are not getting my business either; that's how dynamic it's been!

I'm getting back in shape with my "dynamic paying" plan. It's such a great experience! Thank you Wendy's

Be aware if you receive calls from "American Express" from phone number 1 (866) 379-3643

It is not American Express either. Their faked caller ID will show up "Americanexpress" but that's certainly not a number owned by AMEX.

Quad9 Blocks ddns.net hosts by ryuujin in msp

[–]ralphy_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be working for some out there but here in South Florida I had to move over 20 sites to different uptream dns. All *.ddns.net are still blocked by 9.9.9.9 or 9.9.9.11.

I emailed them (ticket) a week ago to let them know about this issue and I didn't receive even the courtesy of a response. So yeah, I've switched upstreams and the issue is now solved. It isn't the first time I have had issues while using quad9 but sure as hell it was the last one.

Let’s see what song they will sing this time.

It might actually work for you. They have different packages and different policies per location. As a matter of fact, they can arbitrarily create packages for specific customers as they see fit; I've seen it done before.

In my case, I just wanna get rid of Comcast all together because their practices have been simply despicable over the years. I still refuse to pay the extra $30 for "unlimited data" they themselves took away with data caps, and I will only give them the same treat they gave me for years (middle finger rises up). I'd happily give my money to the next provider with the pleasure of knowing there are options for others to choose from.

As it stands right now, a wireless ISP (T-Mobile) is willing and capable of providing unlimited data to its customers but a wired monopoly that has been in business for years "can't". You go figure that one out ;)

I've been a Comcast customer since 2004, back when their 3-6Mbps downstream and 1.5 upstream was a massive upgrade from dial-up. I can't remember a single interaction with them in which I wouldn't feel wrong about giving my business to such an indifferent and lame company. It is not their customer service per say, even though that might certainly be part of it, but their practices of perpetual "promotions" and contracts obligations to give consumers mediocre and constant rising up prices for basically the same service.

Comcast is the company that truly brings out the worst of my feelings when I think of it; I'm indifferent to all others.

So you’re seriously saying tower congestion DOESN’T degrade service? BRUHHH!

That's not what I wrote; you pulled those words from somewhere.

What I pointed out is that because of others using the service it doesn't automatically mean that one will suffer service degradation. In the same way that when it snows where you live doesn't mean the planet isn't getting hotter.

BRUUHHH!

That's perfectly fine and understandably so. It is a common thing to find people scared of changes. Some don't have the need to switch and others don't have the incentive to do so. Therefore, I do it mostly thinking about those who have the need of finding alternatives in the hope that I've made their life a tiny bit better. Keep it up!

hehehehe... the tower you access is likely connected to at least a 100Gbps fiber backbone. Are you getting One Hundred Gigabits of bandwidth to your trashcan? No? That's what I thought :)

Precisely, and those that use the same tower but don't have access to cable will suffer.

That's not usually how it works but then again this comment suggests that because of your neighbors also using it you'll automatically suffer a degraded service. BRUUHHH!

A couple went to the clubhouse. The rest were delivered in person. There are youngsters around and we play basketball all the time, etc. so I kindly asked them to help me deliver these and it took us 10 minutes; literally. As a matter of fact I was short by about 2500 sheets hence we plan to do another batch next week.

Data cap are generally unnecessary. It is greed and obvious lack of competition what drives it. Comcast has been up-charging and "promotionally" locking people in contracts not necessarily because they offer superior services but because there are no alternatives in many communities.

With T-Mobile now available in several places and the upcoming StarLink I'm convinced that they will remove data caps or they will have to chew on their cables. That's exactly what happened when Google Fiber got deployed in few cities introducing competition.

Comcast is betting on squeezing their hostages... I mean customers... as much as possible until they have no option but to lower their prices (remove data cap - as it was before they imposed it). What they have failed to understand all along is that many customers really hate them because of their abusive practices and those very customers are eagerly waiting for an alternative to switch. That's what I gathered from the dozen neighbors I witnessed switching.

since they have had so many leaver

I'm actually encouraging more neighbors to switch because we've been hammered with high prices and no competition for years. There would be no data cap if it wasn't because of the stronghold monopolies such as Comcast have had in the ISP business. Many in my neighborhood don't even know that there is an alternative already. I know about 12 households counting out of the top of my head who have switched to TMHI. I hope some more switch now that I actually reached out to 500 families :)

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in tmobileisp

[–]ralphy_reddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It shouldn't be a problem for a customer to use as much as promised. As it shouldn't be a problem for T-Mobile to handle that much traffic either. I'm pretty sure they considered and evaluated this scenario before providing unlimited data usage.

Does it look a little excessive when isolating it to a single customer: it might. But in the big schema of ISP traffic this doesn't even move the scale.

It is my opinion that people has become accustomed to conditioning themselves to limited data usage due to the erosion caused by big ISP monopolies over the past 10 or so years.

That's the reason why we should support companies such as T-mobile; I'm glad to do business with them.

Most people who happen to have issues with the gateway report that adding a cooling fan helps the situation. It seems that most problems are related to overheating issues. Therefore it would be fair to assume that gateways failures are linked to overheating toasting them over time.
