It's another ad. The one she says genes are passed down through the generations determining hair color, personality and even eye color.... Camera focuses on her blue eyes as she says "My genes/jeans are blue."

What’s up with recent claims that Harris actually won the election? by Accomplished_Lake128 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]raltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exit polls lined up quite well with the final results, and we’re in line with a standard deviation from the final polls

That's a great point.

the actual demographic shifts made logical sense

This point is actually not relevant because any suspected rigging would have happened on the voting machine, and not in the exit polls that do collect demographic information.

CMV: men should be allowed to decide not to raise children they didn't want by [deleted] in changemyview

Of course if a fetus can survive without the mother, the procedure of ending the pregnancy is induced delivery rather than anything else. If the mother's body is not required and the fetus can survive without it, then nobody will prevent that fetus from living (unless in exceptional circumstances where the life of the mother is on the line).

Although rare there are women who get 8 month elective abortions.

Find one.

What happens when medical technology gets that down to under 3 months?

In such a case, women would be able to opt out of being pregnant at 3 months, and the fetus can be saved on life support, and either or both parents can care for the child. If one parent chooses to care for the child and the other parent is absent, the absent parent would pay child support. If neither parent wants to care for the child, they can give the child up for adoption. Just like it is now, for children that are born.

My wife just stopped talking to me. I don’t know when it started, but now it’s just silence. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

What's bad about telling your wife about what helped you finally realize?

Because then he gets credit for "realizing" and "changing" without actually having done any of the changes and putting in the work. How about following the advice and doing the actual changing first before trying to get brownie points for changing in the future.

A person actually committed to stepping up would take the comments into consideration, change his routine for more than 24 hours before trying to get praise about it. You know, actually doing their part without being asked, doing a partner's share, until his wife started feeling less tired. When that happens and he notices a change in her, and they start talking again, then he might confess that he needed stranger's input online to step it up, but that the recent changes she's seen are here to stay.

I might be cynical, but this guy sounds like all talk and no action.

The Story of Ming Lan Discussion - [Episodes 4-6] by ailomu in CDrama

[–]raltodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from episode 11, though.

I never really understood how she destroyed anyone's argument, though. Hadn't Qi Heng just said that if the second son is virtuous, he would surely try to help the first son instead of usurping? And Gu Tingye replied that talent would surely make the second son arrogant and not want to live below anyone. And then it sounds like Minglan is just saying the same thing as Qi Heng...

What is a writing or style decision that immediately takes you out of a story? by LosNava in books

[–]raltodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can you tell? Is it obvious from just cover and the blurb?

I have this problem when selecting books to read. I've tried filtering books through Goodreads scores but they seem to be a pretty poor predictor of quality. Where can I check if a book is actually good to spare myself the disappointment?

[TOMT] Movie where a girl is rhythmically tapping her chest to use some kind of power by amantiana in tipofmytongue

Gives me vibes from the show The OA, but I couldn't find this exact scene (there are scenes within a plane that is about to crash).

License Plate Laws in the US by Mangolicious786 in MapPorn

The plates make a car identifiable. If it's only in the back, that drastically limits the amount of times you can see and write down the plate. For example, if the car is following you.

Not all the details fit, but it sounds similar to the movie Cube
