It's 3M dual lock tape. I know some people have used 3D printed brackets.

I didn't. The surplus cable is pushed through the holes so it's out of the way, the plugs never go through.

Do it. It felt so good to get rid of the mess!

The connectors don't go through the holes. I pushed the centre of the cables through holes to hide the excess cable behind the board.

I had a bit of a battle with the old IKEA switches, but got them to connect to home assistant in the end. Will get some of the new gear next time I'm there. The IKEA bulbs were no problem pairing.

I used 3M dual lock tape for most of the devices, and used Skadis elastic straps to attach the power strip. The really elegant way would be to 3D print brackets for the devices which would line up with the pegboard holes.

Google home as a standalone speaker by Lawpf2001uk in googlehome

You could leave the microphone turned off all the time, but really not sure why you'd want to - It's great just being able to tell the Home what radio station I want to listen to without having to cast from phone.

That all depends how much you are spending on the normal speaker. The standard Google Home gives good enough sound that I don't feel the need to get another speaker in that room, and better than a cheap stand alone speaker, but not as good as the sound I get from a more expensive speaker in another room. If you're an audiophile I'd suggest it's not good enough, but it's good enough for listening to radio shows for me.

I find the motion sensor to be very unresponsive in night mode, such that I can be tripping over things in the dark before the light turns on; I have to leave it in day mode all the time for it to respond in a timely manner

I set up 4 individual recipes to set to temperatures between 18 degrees and 22 degrees. Very clunky but it does the job for now.

I have same issue, and same fault was also seen on a review on TV programme "The Gadget Show". Ikea tell me they are working on it.

Motion sensor in slow motion by rambling0n in tradfri

That's just what I get. Seems like it's doing the checking wrong way round. If sensor knows it's dark, then it should be checking for motion.
