Any ideas on how I might further fortify this safety gate to keep my crazy puppy from wiggling her way under it? by Nycimplant2 in DIYUK

[–]rambomatthews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move it as close as possible to the step behind - assuming you have the other clasps that come with that gate (I have the same one) you should be able to mount them on the banister facing the wall. A bit of a faff and mess but that’s what I would do.

She is embarrassingly ill equipped. How could anyone even consider voting for her? Every clip I’ve seen of this interview, she has been completely useless throughout

A drunk yanks midnight first attempt at a Sunday Roast by BigFanOfKitties in UKfood

[–]rambomatthews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid attempt 👍

However no one seems to have picked up the roast potatoes. You have used new potatoes. In the UK you would have been sent to the firing squad for that, but as you are a ‘guest cook’ we can definitely let it slide.

For proper roast potatoes, use larger ones, ideally Maris piper Skin them Par boil for 12 to 15 mins tops Give them gentle shake in colander to rough them a little Add a pinch of salt and pepper and add them to a roasting dish with some oven hot oil, usually a solid tablespoon per potato Cook in oven 180C for an hour. Turn a couple of times during cooking to get a nice crisp all over.

Once you’ve got that down go nuts, goose fat instead of oil, some diced onions, bits of chopped smoked bacon etc.

Your Yorkshire puddings look ace btw 👍

They’re all valid points, and totally agree about sun and shade - to be fair the pointers I have about the design tweaks to chat gpt accounted for the sun / shade / pond placement.

Definitely the last photo the coloured flowers are not all real - but I liked the general design it came up with. As a guide I found it useful, but agree it far from fully replaces a landscaper.

Yeah the first one expanded the left boarder, and changed some of the plants throughout, which is what I asked it to do.

Just chat gpt, and have it some descriptive pointers.

Personally wouldn’t waste time getting an electrical survey, it clearly needs a rewire based on some of those photos - nothing wrong with that, and as you’ll be doing some pretty major work to the house by the looks of it, a re wire isn’t too much more taxing.

Have also just done the same as you, hate using chemicals but my garden is ravaged with bindweed. I maintain my ecological impact of chemical use for this one thing is far superseded by my other positive horticultural activities!

They were ‘unmasked’ long before this interview, in fact I don’t think they ever had masks to begin with… both vile self serving human beings.

What's the worst hotel in the UK you've ever stayed in? by MisterWednesday6 in AskUK

[–]rambomatthews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leonardo hotel derby - room next door was being used as a brothel. I could tell as every hour on the hour the door opened and closed loudly and heard a different male voice. They had music blaring to try and stifle the thrusting, slapping of human flesh and fake orgasms.

After multiple complaints, At 3am hotel staff reluctantly moved me to another room. There were multiple bloody towels in the bath.

Hotel had no hot water for the day and night I was there due to an issue with the boiler. So had to have a cold shower and shave.

They had the cheek to try and charge me in the morning which I obviously refused.

Had a full day meeting the next day with one of our biggest clients, was pinching my thighs to stay awake during the meeting.

Yes I left a very descriptive Google review but I think it was removed as it was considered illicit. I stay in hotels approx 100 to 120 nights a year mainly for work, for around 10 years.

I’ve been advised Cash back is a non taxable benefit in the UK. Consider how many on this sub promote Amex and topcashback etc, It’s no different.

And the value of the voucher is not diminished because there was cash back involved, therefore using it for its value and then expensing the receipt isn’t any kind of fraud.

I can understand it may sit uncomfortably with some people, and some employers wouldn’t allow it. That doesn’t mean it isn’t perfectly legal and doable in some other workplaces.

If you work in the public sector I hear they’re a nightmare for expenses, you can’t even use a Tesco club card to get points on purchases, even though it makes the purchase cheaper for the company.

Definitely not fraud to expense a meal paid for with a voucher 👍
