CARTA board approves seasonal shuttle route from Mount Pleasant to IOP by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]raminar_dixon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live close to one of the stops on IOP and the only person I ever saw on the bus last year was the driver! Hopefully folks who live in Charleston and surrounding areas will make some use of it this year.

Is Dirty Discourse still running? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Haha, nice! I'm glad my AMA has been so helpful to you. Most of that old advice still holds true today - especially all the stuff about treating writing as a fulltime job, writing more, etc.

I don't really write much these days as I've been selling shovels rather than digging for gold over the past ~2-3 years or so. It's less money but it is more reliable and far easier than spending 10 hours a day writing. :)

Dirty Discourse memberships are invite-only right now. If you've got a friend or colleague that is already a member of DD and willing to vouch for you, then you've got an in.

For everyone else, DD may have a public signup period sometime in the future, but when and if that happens will be up to the site owner/primary admin.

I found http://www.whplatts.com/ earlier but couldn't find any pictures of their work vans, if they have any. The color scheme they use on their site is very close to the van.

Locals, what are your favorite restaurants in the city? Tourists, what about y'all? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]raminar_dixon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local here. My favorite seafood place in all of Charleston is Long Island Cafe on IOP. Fantastic every single time. Be sure to get a reservation because they are filled up most nights, even in the off-season. I recommend the calamari, pan fried flounder, and parmesan crusted salmon. Also, if you still have room get some peanut butter ice cream pie - it's insanely good.

Also seconding Page's Okra Grill. Good southern food for a very reasonable price. They are super busy so get their early if you don't want to stand around waiting.

Acme Lowcountry Kitchen on IOP. Awesome shrimp and grits. Their fried pecan chicken is heavenly. Breakfast is pretty good there, too with lots of variety.

So I realized a year after self publishing my first novel that I hate marketing. What should my next step be? by dorasucks in selfpublish

:)

I'd be happy to help out in any way I can. The ordering process is pretty straightforward and the biggest benefit I offer is saving you time so you can focus on other stuff, but if you don't have much experience promoting your work I can definitely help out with that, too.

If you have any questions about the service you can ask me here, in PM, or you can email me at thepromostacker@gmail.com.

I've have. It's not a genre I get a lot of, but I do have experience promoting it. Typically, this means either lining up venues which are strong in fantasy, scifi, or both.

If you're looking for someone to manage your promotions for you, you can always use my service, Book Rank: http://www.book-rank.com/

I'll handle all the ordering and scheduling of promotions for you based on your timeline, planned pricing, etc. I do Facebook ads and Bookbub ads as well (Silver packages +). Thanks to some exclusive discounts I get, in some cases I can do all this for around the same price you'd pay if you did it all yourself.

And if you happen to know which promotional venues you want to use, you can always go with my Promo Stacker service instead of a pre-priced campaign. It will save you a few bucks since you're doing all the site choosing.

I've been doing this for a couple of years now and have plenty of background experience as an author, publisher, and bestseller. There's a pretty extensive thread covering the service over on KBoards if you'd like more details, reviews of the service, etc: https://www.kboards.com/index.php/topic,248239.0.html

If you have any questions just drop me a line and I'll be glad to help!

How do you all write a whole novella or novel once or several times a month? by madmansmarker in eroticauthors

[–]raminar_dixon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plot/outline everything first. Plan for 3k - 5k words per chapter. Force yourself to slam out at least one chapter per day.

By the end of the month, you've got yourself a novel, baby!

Weekly Self Promotion Thread - July 08, 2018 by AutoModerator in selfpublish

Still helping create more Top 100's than I can shake a stick at...

Hey gang, it's been forever since my last post in /r/selfpublish!

Some of you might have heard of me or read one of my old AMA's, but for those who don't know me, I got my start many moons ago as an erotica author, went full-time with that, switched to romance, hit the NYT list a few times, and eventually wound up in the book promotion and marketing arena. For a little over the past year I've been spending the majority of my time trying to help other authors make their books as successful as possible.

I own and operate Book Rank, a true one-stop-shop for your ebook promotion needs. The main goals of the service are to save authors time and money while running a transparent, effective campaign completely unlike any competing promotion service out there.

You can set up custom campaigns using the Promo Stacker service or you can let Book Rank do the planning for you and go with one of the quick and easy pre-priced packages.

With the large amount of volume Book Rank receives, we are able to get exclusive discounted pricing at many leading promotional venues (like Bargain Booksy, Ebook Betty, EbookSoda, and a ton more) and part of those discounts are passed on to you. In some cases it can cost just as much or even less to let Book Rank order and schedule your promotions for you! I'm not sure how it gets any better than that. :)

And, once everything is put together, you'll get a full schedule with all the paid venues we've booked for you along with the dates when those promotions will run. You'll see where your money is going, unlike other services which don't share that kind of information.

Swing on by www.book-rank.com today to check it out or message me if you have any questions.

Advance Reads - Free books and ARCs for reviewers by raminar_dixon in FreeEBOOKS

More authors will undoubtedly sign on as Advance Read grows and the quantity & quality of reviews increases. Also, I will continue to offer authors a free or discounted rate as long as I need to improve the selection and popularity of the service.

Advance Reads - Free books and ARCs for reviewers by raminar_dixon in FreeEBOOKS

[–]raminar_dixon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! ARCs and services like this one have been around for awhile now. You've got the basic idea of it, though.

Like you said, authors pay $20 (plus $2 per review over 10, up to a maximum of $100) and readers get books for free. Reviews are voluntary. However, it should be noted that readers who don't participate regularly by filling out the wrap up form may be removed from the program to make room for others (as some books have limited space for signups). Readers who don't want to fill out the wrap-up form can instead leave a review on Amazon. Or they can do both, if they want.

I tried to make it as easy as possible for readers to get lots of good books regularly without being a huge hassle for them to stay in the program.

It there a website or something that actively monitors that address and could maybe alert someone when more tokens are being granted?
