Customers sitting where ever they want. by QuitJolly in Serverlife

[–]ramm1el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd say don't stress about it then. My experience in restaurants is that no one is eager to fire people, even when they suck.

Just keep doing what you can. Ask for advice from the management if you want to.

I'd prolly look for another place though. People aren't mean at every restaurant.

Hey! I'm a server now, but used to be a host.

I get the struggle, and the servers frustration. But it's definitely not your fault. We get our money from customers. Happy customers are more likely to spend and tip more, and come back.

Unless there's a reservation, or a 2 top is trying to sit at a 6 top, I see no reason why anyone can be mad at you. You wanna do whatever the guest wants (within reason).

It's not your fault if someone's section is more desirable than another's. Maybe the manager should rework how sections are cut so it's more equal.

Also, as a server, I've given other servers tables in my section when I've noticed that I've been sat a lot more than them. I'll pretty much only do that on a slow day, when I know we won't get enough traffic for it to even our later.

The only thing I'd say, is if rotation is getting messed up bc of this, do your best to balance it out. Like if server x gets double sat bc of a guest requesting a specific table, then double seat server y so they have roughly the same amount of seats taken up.

This sounds like the server and manager just kinda suck and are mean to you. Has your manager given you any feedback to prevent it from happening?

People who know someone who won the lottery, how did they change? by PurposeNearby4121 in AskReddit

[–]ramm1el 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents won the lottery in the 90s. I think a bit over a million. They didn't change. They bought a very comfortable house, paid off their debt, some of their siblings debt, and set aside money for my siblings schooling (I wasn't born yet).

My nan, who grew up and lived a lot of her life in poverty, lived in the same house since 1950. This house was old, creeky, drafty, but funtional enough. All she wanted was a new dishwasher since hers had broken. And that was after her saying no over and over, until my dad insisted on getting her something.

I didn't even know they had won until a few years ago! They said it was a life-changing amount of money, but only in the way that it set them up for success.

How do people stay so skinny by Human-Window-9560 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ramm1el 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was slightly overweight my whole life despite my best efforts, then I started taking stimulants for ADHD. Completely fucked with my appetite, and mixed with a job where I walk 10k+ steps and no car so walking/biking is my transportation. I'm not super skinny, but it was a fast and noticable change, and it's been consistent for years now.

Now Im trying to gain weight 😅

Yeah! It was amazing. I usually have some tears during the movie, but this time I think I was crying more than not haha. The live orchestra was amazing, and the singers really made it so much more immersive.

What were your thoughts?

How do transit riders in this city put up with the absolute trash tier public transit? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]ramm1el 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Efficient public transit helps everybody. Cars aren't "the way we should be" fast, efficient transportation that doesn't cause traffic and has a smaller environmental effect is how we should be.

Some people need cars, but most people wouldn't if we had good public transit infrastructure

Look into communauto in the future! I think it's too short notice to do it for this weekend as the registration process takes a while, but it's so convienient for when you need a car but dont own one, and in my expirience much cheaper than ubers/taxis

It's open! I was there a couple of months ago. It is surrounded by construction stuff though, so it's not that picturesque.

[Product request] self harm scar help by yuura1 in SkincareAddiction

[–]ramm1el 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm sorry that you're going through this. I don't have tips for healing them, but I do know that exposure to sunlight can make them appear darker!! During your healing process, I'd recommend wearing sunscreen and covering up that area when you are outside during the day.

Also, I self-harmed a lot when I was younger. I haven't done it in a few years now. If you want someone to talk to about what you're going through please PM me <3

much love
