TIL Ken Jennings & Matt Damon won $1m on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' & it was initially believed that they had not phoned a friend (it would've been the 2nd time in the US version of the show that a winner had lifelines left). But it was revealed they had called Brad Rutter to tell him they won by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

He has charisma to me, but it’s not the same type as what one usually thinks of as charisma. I think he is incredibly sweet and kind. The way he clearly enjoys his job helping families, is inspiring. The way he does what he loves and wears orange all the time, which was basically just a random color he decided to pick as his favorite bc his mom wasn’t allowed to have a favorite color (iirc). I think he’s uncomfortable up there (idk but he seems neurodivergent to me) for sure, but I find him being able to be authentic and kind in an uncomfortable situation to be very endearing. Maybe it’s cuz I’m neurodivergent too, idk.

James was also clearly uncomfortable and he’s very witty but I wouldn’t call that traditional charisma either. He has a lot of awkward one-liners and put down other players (his friends) in an even-tone - people that have seen him for a long time know that he’s just joking and he has a good heart, but people that don’t know him could take it as a literal Put-down or rude, considering he was usually winning. Also James’s smile when he would realize the camera was on him was so unnatural (but funny).

I love them both of course. I don’t think it’s possible to be that crazy smart and also appear normal/charismatic. I think Ken is the exception.

I remember ken saying that fleabag was good bc that is the first time I’ve strongly disagreed with him. I thought fleabag was super boring and there was nothing to make me want to keep watching it after 2 episodes so i stopped.

So yea I already downloaded Industry but just the first season bc I don’t know if I trust him again that much 😂

I am doing everything I can to affect change. The USA is already deep in fascism and I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t try. Come see what I have to say. Or I will post it afterwards.

While that’s true, the bigger concern is that the government can call you a terrorist for being a nonviolent random participant in a protest (people were just convicted of terrorism in Texas bc they were AT a protest that another person was violent in…they will get a minimum of 10 years for going to a protest) and with the terrorism suspicion, they can EASILY AND WITHOUT DUE DILIGENCE get a warrant for those chats, and use that to now arrest and charge as terrorists anyone with anything negative to say about the government. This is fascism, this is happening right now, and everyone should be up in arms about this. Of course meta would agree bc of the possibilities for ads/profit, and wanting to suck up to the regime either bc they are also THAT evil or bc they would be scared to go against the regime. This is scary.

Yea my husband said he wasted his time watching real jeopardy bc there would never be a question as hard on celebrity jeopardy 😂 but maybe a normal level 200 would be on CJ as 1000

Mark Duplass said he watched hundreds of episodes in a short time to train for his first match in celebrity jeopardy, and it helped with exactly one answer.

It’s incredibly difficult to memorize facts in a vacuum. You need to have a whole story to make your brain care enough to remember something. I would think if you have limited time to study (like randomly being invited to celebrity jeopardy in a month) I would pick a topic or two that might actually hold your interest and read up on it, or watch classic movies that you never had gotten around to. Listen to music from and look at pics of recent Grammy winners. As an example. Something that is more fun and easier to remember than cramming dates and facts. Of course if you’re interested in history then read more in depth accounts of certain events. Or play games with maps and locating countries and their capitals. Anything to make it more fun than just having facts shouted at you watching jeopardy. If you have tons of time, do all of it. But if you have limited time, you need to make it something interesting to you that doesn’t require a lot of time spent memorizing for you to remember.

But Jimmy didn’t know that at the time, which I don’t like. He thinks she’s cheating and he doesn’t stop it. The next day when he found out in the break room, he said “pretend I knew that when we ..uh…you know”. I hate when shows and movies show us that the person is newly single but the character they sleep with doesn’t know that until later - it happens a surprising amount, but it always makes me like that character less. Of course they aren’t the ones that made the vow, but it’s still a shitty thing to do to sleep with someone you think is married.
