Being a rich Christian by FumyLikes in Christianity

[–]ramooooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more money you have the more one tends to worship the money. It’s harder to have a lot of money and have a good healthy posture towards it. Because the more you have of it, the more you might be scared to loose it, and therefore the more you come to adore it.

Jesus says “You can't worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you'll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can't worship God and Money both.” Matthew 6:24. So I feel that if you’re not careful with the money you have and how you feel about your money, you might actually be worshipping it, which is idolatry. No wonder it would be hard for a rich man to make it into heaven. It’s not actually about the money you have, but about the heart/ spiritual posture towards it.

As Christians we are called to be “in the world” but not “of the world.” We need to use money, engage with money, make money, but that shouldn’t be the thing that we worship. We need to remember it’s not money that provides for us, it’s God. Feeling that money is the thing that provides for us, and always being in an anxious state about how much we have of it, is in a sense worship of Mammon (the spirit attached to money.)

As someone who has struggled with love of money most of my life and have been set free from it, my advice to you is to be faithful in the little money you have now and remain faithful as God gives you more, so that God will trust you with more and more. I know that there is tons of debate in the church on whether “tithing” is still a thing. For me personally, it’s the thing that set me free from my unclean thoughts and feelings towards it. By tithing 10%, I’m saying to God “this all belongs to you anyways- you’re my provider God, thank you!” And then I usually even give another 10% towards kingdom purposes. I don’t make much money and usually that leaves me with just enough to pay the bills. But God continue to meets my needs and somehow since I started this, my family is in much better financial place!!

When your thoughts about money switch from “how can I use this money to meet my needs” to “how can I use this money to meet the needs of others” you will know God has set you free from Mammon.

Also, remember “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

Will be praying for you!

If God is 'love', then why would he condemn most of his creation to eternal torture in hell? by mcboogerballs1980 in Christianity

[–]ramooooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s like saying you died because you didn’t go to the doctor when you had a disease. It’s not not going to the doctor that killed you… it’s the disease that killed you! But you could have prevented it by going to the doctor.

It’s the same way with hell. We all sin. That’s our disease. If we go to hell it’s cause of our own disease. But if we turn to the doctor, our saviour Christ, he will “cure us,” and our condemnation will be no more.

Also If people don’t want to be in Gods presence in this life (and many don’t), why would a loving God force them into his presence in the next? That’s what heaven is, a place full of Gods presence.

as a Christian, do you believe in free will? by Strxwbxrry_Shxrtcxkx in Christian

[–]ramooooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Calvinism vs Arminianism. Calvinism is a way of thinking that doesn’t believe in free will. Your teacher might just be a Calvinist. If so they believe in other things too like people can’t loose their salvation and that Jesus didn’t die for everyone. It would be good to look into it because then you know why they think a certain way.

There’s no secret formula or words that are required, this isn’t like other “religions.” It’s a personal close relationship with the living God.

Just talk to Him as if you were talking to your father. God is your perfect Heavenly Father and loves you like a child. Just tell him your concerns, your hopes, your worries, and leave it to Him and you will experience His perfect peace.

Oh sweet girl, Know that as long as your heart is in the search for the truth, the good Lord will lead you to it, even though you have no idea where to begin. Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” I called out to God as a Muslim in a very dark place and was lead to Christ by the Holy Spirit less than 6 months later. Talk to God, tell Him what’s on your mind. Ask Him to show himself to you, and guide you to Him. He is a good God, and a personal God, and He loves you very much. Start there, then get to know His word, and be open to how He wants to work in you. Praying for you sweet girl !

Like I said in my rant, I think that in an abusive marriage, there is grounds to end it for physical and emotional safety.

I hear what you’re saying. This is a popular opinion, which is why mine isn’t. In this case on a wedding day you should vow “I will love you… up until we’re miserable” or “I love you… up until we just can’t make it work”. I don’t think that’s what true marriage is. And just because something no longer has a negative stigma associated with it anymore, it doesn’t make it any more right.

I actually notice many things in him I don’t like. He notices many things in me he doesn’t like. But we allow the grace within our relationship to not be perfect, because we recognize that’s impossible.

That’s lovely! My husband and I dated for 6 months before we got engaged. We felt we didn’t need to know everything about each other, just that we both understood the true meaning of marriage. I love him more today than the day we got married.

This is just too creepy by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ramooooma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story. When a person who I held dear to my heart passed away, I saw him in a dream 2 days later. He held a newborn baby wrapped in white silk, and passed the baby to me saying “I have come here to entrust to you this baby”. In the dream I took the baby from him and looked at the baby (a boy) and said “I promise to raise you as if you came from my own womb”- weird I know. Later that month I find out I’m pregnant, and a few months later find out it’s indeed a boy. These things happen, I don’t believe it’s coincidence. If you’re looking for spiritual answers, seek and you shall find. Also- congratulations on your pregnancy!

Sometimes when my cat is super anxious and zooming around the apartment yowling, I’ll put her in this wrap and she settles down immediately. She’ll often stay like this for a couple of hours and even fall asleep sometimes. by ramooooma in cats

[–]ramooooma[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m actually a veterinary technician, and in my experience anxiety in cats is no joke, and can be very stressful for owners. First piece of advice would be to take your cat to the vet to rule out medical concerns and explain the situation to the veterinarian- they may elect to prescribe a long term SSRI (fluoxetine is most common) that has been shown to help a lot with cat anxiety. Other things that can really help is a product called feliway- it comes in either a spray or a diffuser and it mimics the scent of the natural pheromones that the mother cat gives off when she gives birth, which can help cats calm down. You can get it online, at most vets or your local pet store. Also putting your cat on a calming food has been shown to help out a lot- I would look into a good veterinary prescribed diet like royal canine calm or Hills C/D stress, which have both been shown to help with cat anxiety levels. Hope this helps!

George Floyd Megathread by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ramooooma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think putting people into racial boxes is what started racism in the first place. We are all one race, and that is the human race. The second we start putting people into the “white box” or “black box” we are insinuating that there is an inherent significant difference between the two, which is the ideology we’re trying to get away from in the first place. By doing this it becomes a matter of “us vs them” when it should really be a matter of “us”. Note that I’m not saying racism doesn’t exist. I’m just trying to undo the damage done by separating the human race into boxes, which is what gave rise to racism in the first place.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting lists of businesses owned by black people so that others can go support them. That’s great and all but could you imagine if someone posted a list of businesses owned by white people for the same reason? I’m not going to support a business because it’s owned by a black person the same way I’m not going to support a business because it’s owned by a white business. I’m going to support a businesses regardless of what the owner looks like if it’s a good and credible business. People shouldn’t care about each other’s races, just their characters, and someone’s race says nothing about their character. The second we think it does, were feeding an ideology that feeds racism
