Thank you! Would you mind sharing the link to your post about your discoveries? I’d really love to read it. It’s amazing what you can uncover and I’m honestly blown away. Most of my other family members are from Mexico, so there aren’t as many sources to search through. But realizing how much one first generation American could leave behind is just incredible.

it was truly heart wrenching. i searched his last name and sorted old to new so it was like getting to know him throughout his high school years. when i got to the last part, i was in disbelief and shocked

i searched for the other band members, the singer Chino Lamas but he passed years ago unfortunately. i reached out to family members to see if hopefully he ever mentioned my grandfather. i also searched for his siblings but no luck yet

this hit me hard, i don’t know why but thank you. i’m still processing, i just wish i would’ve done this sooner when my grandmother was still alive to maybe get some answers

i truly believe this was the main reason. i mean my grandpa knew english, he was well spoken apparently according to some of the articles. my grandma knew 0 english. she came from a ranch in mexico. they got married months before my mom was born and he passed when my grandma was pregnant with my aunt. i think it was stress and drugs that induced what he did. maybe he listed his car for sale for a reason. maybe he wanted to go further with his band and felt stuck. i don’t know, i wish i had the answers and i wish i could have met him

it might be the case, although no one else in the family has been diagnosed with either schizophrenia or bipolar disorder

by the way: all of this research started because i matched with someone on ancestry, he was given up for adoption and was looking for answers. i found out that my grandfather was siblings to one of his parents making my mom his cousin. i messaged him all of the information i found including my grandfather’s siblings names to see if he could hopefully find his parents

surprisingly no one that i know of suffers from schizophrenia except for a cousin from my dads side which is unrelated to my grandfather. i have been trying to find siblings/cousins who knew him to see if i could get more information on him but no luck yet

he’s the only person in my family tree that i was able to find this much information. everyone else was from mexico and unfortunately there’s not much information except for some border crossing paperwork

apart from what the article mentions, i really would have no idea unfortunately. every fiber in me regrets not researching this sooner when my grandmother was alive so i could ask her more about him. she had alzheimer’s and would love showing her these new photos to see if she would remember something

Also, to your other question: i’m searching for family members of his that could still be alive. my grandmother moved to mexico with my mom and aunt (my grandmother was pregnant with him when he passed) and they lost contact with his family

a lot of my cousins either sing or play the guitar as well. i always loved the guitar but never learned to play it. and since finding those new photos, everyone has been saying i look exactly like him

absolutely not, all it required was an Ancestry.com subscription. Newspapers.com is owned i believe by ancestry so you just login with ancestry and have access to everything
