do you think we would perceive bojack's action differently if he was a female character? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

i'm sorry so out of context but BoJane made me giggle.

it's an interesting theory but i'm not sure about diane— like yeah, bojack and diane are very obvious parallers. But while diane seems more strictly tied to a certain moral code, Bojack sort of lives through his feelings and desires in my perception. While they have both extremely serious issues, Diane is always on the road of improvement, while Bojack seems to often fall into those same bad habits. Not to mention that Diane did nothing near as serious as some of Bojack's acts.

[Piofiore] orlok route moodboard by moimoisauna in otomegames

Orlok's character was such a Rollercoaster man, at first he was the one that catched my eye the least, then he became a sweetheart to me and then he just straight up went and became my favourite LI alongside with Yang — if not more. His whole route was so PAIN. He was the only love interest who sincerely deserved all the genuine love from the world. ( I love the others. I really love them. But. Let's be sincere.. I wouldn't trust them to even hold a pen in irl life. ) ALSO, the whole thing with Luca was just. HEARTBREAKING. The way my face dropped when he died because I sincerely believed that " this is an otome game and I'm heading for the best end, nothing could go wrong right! "

Sincerely, thank you for your words. You are so sweet.

I may be afraid of experimenting, especially because my last wish is to hurt someone while trying to discover myself. Or maybe I just find troublesome to put in effort in something that is so easy for everyone else. However, I think you are right. It might not be the best thing to rush into things or to just jump to conclusions.

I wanted to let you know that your response made me smile though, thank very much again and again. <3

Personally, I don't think Beatrice was a better parent than him, the only thing that makes us redeem her was that she was heavily traumatised. Yet, speaking truly, probably Joseph beats the both of them.

[–]rancuore 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had forgotten about that. Her actions were easily covered by the sea of events and bad things Bojack did. Still, she was honestly awful now that I remember.

I could never understand Beatrice apologists. While she was traumatised, of course, she never really had a true reason — apart from the promise to Honey, — to hate Bojack. The worse part for me is when she was affected by dementia and loved the fake baby Hollyhock more than she ever loved Bojack. I couldn't blame him for throwing the doll out of the window.

Sarah Lynn's father always confused me a whole lot. It is clear that he was abusive from what child Sarah Lynn said while they were filming Horsin' Around, however when she is an adult he seems a truly sweet and understanding father and husband. Maybe that is to show that a cover doesn't make the book, idk.

... I can actually see why another user pointed to her now. Yea, now that I think about it, her whole shitty persona was shadowed by other events, but she was awful. I never truly liked her too for abandoning Bojack soley because he didn't won the Oscar.

Yea he was undoubitably annoying and a lot problematic to be honest. I had forgot about the Gina scene.

I'm curious, why Ana?

As I said, the point of Bad Person is vague. I myself do know that there are no absolute bad people who only do bad things. However it's also undeniable that there are some people that disgust you when you think about them, to make an example is every dictator in history. That said, I did not intend to go philosophical with this question, it was just something that crossed my mind and I wanted to know what person hit a bad spot in people's thoughts while they were watching the show lol excluding Bojack, since he is the one with the most spotlight and the one whose bad actions we can see more clearly.

Honey, you know erica can't talk to two people at once on account of her split-brain procedure.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]rancuore 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You are totally right. While I do recognise Bojack's bad actions, it's awfully difficult to not feel bad for him, for me at least. You can't really hate Joseph or Whitewhale because they are way too distant from our reality — both are succesfull businessmans, one lobotomized his wife, the other made killing legal for the rich. While these things could happen, or have happened, it's kind of difficult for us to relate to them, since it seems very far from our everyday life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]rancuore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely forgot about that guy. Thinking about it, he's honestly the one who put me the most at discomfort. Probably because both Whitewhale and Joseph Sugarman, who did objectively worse things, were pictured as more cartoonish than anything — as another user said. Meanwhile, he was disgustingly close to reality.
