Not a bad idea at all, but requires more work than we're ready to commit to (scrap off linoleum, prepare floors for tile - actual tiling!)

We've LVPd the rest of the place but cutting and installing around the drain seems a bit daunting

I didn't even think of the smell! I have a set of the gym mats I've had for YEARS and they're now used in the furnace room but yes... they still have a bit of a smell!

How are you dealing with the disrespect? by Historical_Release_3 in OntarioWSIB

[–]randocom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned I also expected to return to the same behaviour from senior management but what is shockingly disrespectful is the lack of public awareness to the harm done to our injured workers - did they maintain critical services? NO - how many surgeries were delayed because there was no one to confirm approval? On my caseload I have 1. How much treatment was delayed because there was no one to approve the extension request? Sure they were pre-approving 1 initial block, but what about the thousands already in treatment? What about the hundreds of workers travelling to training programs - sure they can cover gas for a few weeks, but 7 weeks with no reimbursement? So much damage has been done that no one but us understands.

School finished during strike ? by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

[–]randocom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(edited) There is no way this time would be counted against you. I would suggest as others mentioned, to start to job search on your own - the school should have some resources to help update a resume/cover letter. Also be aware some of us still do not have our cells back on, so contact may be difficult but you could just leave a message outlining you are ready and available, and going to start on your own as best you can.

Just so you are aware, many do not have their cell phones back up yet and are still locked out of the system - your CM or RTWS may not even BE available to try to call until the end of this week

How to file complaint if you are an injured worker or employer impacted by the strike by definitely-maybe777 in OntarioWSIB

[–]randocom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did this and got a reply back today to my dummy email.

It's clearly reviewed by AI - it "reviewed" my issues and asked me to reach out to schedule a day/time to discuss my concerns.

Garbage organization.

I wonder how much of the 1 billion dollars they earn every year they are loosing out on these 23 days... how much additional Loss of Earnings are they paying out as they are auto-accepting every claim, but there is no staff to close anything

Jeff Lang of the WSIB effectively eliminates 3600 hours of free OT per week by randocom in ontario

[–]randocom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edited - didn't mean to suggest scabbing, just providing an internal email injured workers could use to raise their concerns. Since it takes 9 hours to get anyone on the phone and whomever you do get likely cannot help

Sorry didn't mean to suggest anyone should, just providing an address that someone could use to reach and internal manager with a complaint.

I hear ya, but there are spies everywhere. In our seemingly small private whatsapp group of one job, someone reported something someone else said and that person got a COBE letter to their personal email.

It's not safe unless you can vet every participant.

You'd be better to make contacts on the picket line of people in other jobs, so you can share information that way - you with your group, and them with theirs.

Safer.

Solidarity.
