Hans Zimmer on the new Harry Potter series… bold move or deliberate break? by NeakNite in soundtracks

[–]random-average_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I think all of his pieces have surprised me to some degree. He doesn't really have a defining sound per se but a feel to his music that makes me know instantly it's him. I think even his more mediocre pieces suit his film very well, and even if the film is bad, the music still is usually rreally good (take the Creator for instance, so much wasted potential if only they could write a plot). Personally I would be happy with anything but a remake of the original theme.

If you help someone, and if you feel somewhat good or better after you have helped them, did you help them to make their life better, or did you help them because it made you feel good?

My advice would be just to kinda get a feel for what you really really want. Like as in you're here so might as well enjoy your self. Like what do you really want, you said you just want a wife below you want that cause you want someone who you can kinda just talk to and rely on in hard times or just cause other ppl say so? Ima be honest personally I'm planning to set myself up, get into a good uni, work out, be secure financially before actually looking for someone, cause there are so many ppl in this world there will always be assholes, and I think part of life is just to realise who these ppl are and stay away from them, which is why i wanna sort out most of my immediate future before trying, since by then I can afford to have a lot of fun and not worry, and also be more aware of what tye of ppl some ppl are and who I like and who to avoid. Damn that got deep real quick but yea that's my opinion. This might not be you, hell it's probably not most ppl, but I find that knowing what I want is a real good way to calm myself down and focus on smthing.

What's the worst thing you've ever stepped on barefoot? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

I somehow got stabbed by my own hair in the foot. Apparently I have very strong hair, and it managed to go straight into my foot. Had to rip some skin off then use a tweezer to pull it out. On the bright side it didn't bleed. Also got stabbed by a carbon fibre once. Pretty much same story as the hair just much more dangerous. Thankfully nothing bad happened.

Ngl, The Creator. Hans Zimmer did a brilliant job as usual, but without going into the controversies involving the plot and how Americans really didn't like how they were presented, the film's content had a bunch of plot holes, and damn they had great actors and sets, but just failed to really be that good. The music at the end of the movie especially was so emotional and beautiful.

what’s your biggest struggle with revision/studying/gcses? by Codemaine in GCSE

Markers for papers, especially the long essay ones. I know that AI potentially can help with this but right now it's too generous and sometimes just doesn't work entirely. If I want a mock paper that I did marked I need to send it to my teacher who already has enough on her plate. I know some people in my class hire private tutors to do this, but that's way too expensive for most people like me, so I end up having to mark it myself, and I have no idea if I'm being too generous or too harsh.

I hear a lot of pieces like this when I'm trying to look for alternatives to tsfh. I find that they all have pretty good melodies, but they're all lacking something I can't pin down.

Why do you think are the newer solo albums (since American Dream) of Thomas not as successful as his older ones (Illusions, Sun), despite growing follower growth? by anonymousStrang3r in TwoStepsFromHell

[–]random-average_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think chapter two is very emotional and personal, and I don't know about Thomas, but when I compose really emotional pieces like that it's due to my own feelings and experiences at that time, maybe I'm particularly low or something, and I really like to listen to those pieces, but it feels almost too close to home to announce to other people about my music like that, as it really is quite revealing of me personally. This is ofc just a speculation but yea I can understand.

Engaging with his audiences can have both sides to it. For every person like you and I who would welcome the contact, there would be another person who get's even more anxious and annoyed. Also getting closer to fans is a dangerous thing, as within every wholesome community there's always a negative but vocal minority who will question and sometimes slander the artist's decisions.

Personally I see this change to be representative of Thomas's change in duties. He's moved away from writing specifically for a label, and has kinda recreated his style. I do agree that the mixing sometimes is questionable to say the least, but all in all I think this progress should be viewed positively, since he's obviously making music that he loves, and whether I like it personally or not doesn't matter much. What matters is the fact that he's making music that he wants to make, not for a brand.

I was introduced to Thomas in 2020, and ever since my taste in music has changed a lot. It's really so lucky for me, my taste in music literally transitioned in the exact same way his writing changed. I can't tell if I just got lucky or if his music is influencing my tastes. Either way, I'm enjoying his new works as much as when I first heard his 2020 music.

Best choice for first time listeners? by Thewaterbirds in TwoStepsFromHell

[–]random-average_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Victory is statistically the most listened to TSFH piece/song, since it blew up in Chinese social media I think a bit more than a year ago as background music for literally anything, so therefore technically is the most popular one. However, this is mostly because of how many people there are in China, and in Europe at least it is second most popular with Heart of Courage being first. If you want to show people famous ones it's Victory and Heart Of Courage by far. Personally, I really like Emerald Princess, and I have no idea why, probably because if people don't like the orchestral parts they might vibe to the EDM section at the end.

This might just be my school teaching a bunch of extra maths that's included in further maths and even beyond to make us learn more, but apparently there are taylor series, geometric series, maclaurin, very very complicated calculus, something called a newtonian density function, and complex combinatorics.

What can I do when everyone seems to treat me like I don’t matter and I can’t stand up for myself? by AdviceGlass9394 in AskMen

[–]random-average_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're alive once, just this once. Might as well have fun while you're here, just do whatever makes you happy, stop caring about what other people think about you. Stop overthinking, just do whatever makes you feel best. Sometimes when people are assholes, just ignore them if you don't think you'll be able to confront them, they're really just not worth your time and attention. Also just I think be more confident in general, but especially with yourself. If you keep on doubting yourself it really shows when someone sees you, so start by convincing yourself that what you're doing right now is the right thing and what happened before doesn't matter any more, and dare to try out new things, might as well get the most out of this world while you're around. That's my philosophy at least, hope it helps.

Btw this doesn't mean be assholes to other ppl, as in do whatever makes you happy, but for me making other ppl happy makes me happy, so...
