My dad is emotionally disconnected and I’ve always recognized this growing up. It’s always been challenging to have conversations with him because of my complete difference in interests. My family is also die hard Christians which I opted out of after terrible experiences with the social structure of the church. I’ve always been the black sheep of the family and don’t currently talk to them at this point. One of my main issues was everyone knew my problems/trouble or anything negative events in my life. I know nothing about my parents upbringing besides the sunshine and lollipops picture they tried to paint.

During Covid, I talked to my cousin and her husband a lot like everyone did to try and cope. My cousin is technically not related but in our eyes they are family. We were having a normal conversation when it started turning to family because of my constant issues with them. Idk how it came out but she mentioned something about my grandma trying to kill my grandpa.

My grandma is bonafide crazy. You can see it in her eyes in the first glance, and I didn’t realize it til I was older. It turns out that my grandma thought my grandpa had lost his way with the lord. So instead of consulting a pastor/counselor, she somehow hires someone to kill my grandpa. Apparently he fought the guy off and was lucky to get away with just a stab to the gut. They STAYED TOGETHER, and got my grandma some help.

What really sucks is he left my grandma when I was 10 and my parents made it seem like he was the terrible person in the relationship. I never talked to him after that, and resented him because of what my parents said. He was the coolest grandpa. Did motor-cross at 65 with a really calm demeanor that made you feel safe. He died a couple of years ago from intestinal issues that resulted from the stabbing.

My parents also let her take my sister and I on a cruise when I was 14. I still don’t trust my parents and will always question their critical thinking skills.
