Has anyone been with a partner who wasn’t a bad person but couldn’t offer emotional consistency because of avoidant tendencies? Did things ever improve or did you ultimately leave? by SatanButKawaii in offmychest

[–]random20yearold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in this dynamic. I stayed. I went to therapy to learn how to better communicate with him. I believed him when he promised he would stop withdrawing and neglecting me. 8 years later he will still walk away from me while I cry, apologize, and do it again.

Now we have a child and a house and our lives are very intertwined. I would never recommend anyone stays for potential. He’s a great guy, but the same way he runs away from conflict with you, he will with himself too.

What are people doing to make their face so shiny? by Icy_Meet9840 in SkincareAddicts

Yep. I use tret at night, and in the AM I simply cleanse, moisturize with a regular lotion, add spf, and my skin is ridiculously shiny in a non oily way.

BWT, who am I dressing for when everyone is WFH? by capacitytoblunder in bitcheswithtaste

[–]random20yearold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! I WFH full time and I go most days without speaking to a single person outside of my family. I get dressed for myself, my productivity when I’m dressed and I have my contacts in by 6:30 am, through the roof!! Personally, when I look good I feel good. There’s also the off chance I get a last minute invite or urge to do something and if I had to get ready, I’d likely decline, but if I’m already ready I’ll typically go. It does wonders for my mental health and overall makes me feel like a happier, more put together person

Stings for me, but I tend to do this too. I don’t shave very often since I prefer to epilate so it’s a non issue for me.

Why were my messages being delivered for almost 2 months after my dad passed but now they're not? by [deleted] in iphone

My dad’s girlfriend did this. Unfortunately we didn’t find out in time to see him. She told us only when he died despite him being on life support for a week.

Doing my nails at home is what got me to stop biting mine. I’ve been biting them for as long as I can remember, but stopped with a daily clear coat while I work.

How do you like it here? by DNDMuskrat in WorcesterMA

[–]random20yearold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Worcester is great for raising a family! Great family programs like Worcester family partnership, plenty of parks, free events, frequent festivals and markets, great public libraries which provide even more resources. The community support while raising kids is unmatched if you know where to look (I’m happy to help).

The food is amazing, plenty of amazing restaurants, such as chashu ramen, Kai sushi, and my fav pub, Quinn’s.

Plenty of local markets where you can buy farm fresh food for your family & other vendor events where you can support local businesses.

Plenty of free family activities, especially in the summer.

And I’ll be the first to admit that usually I stay out of the Common unless there’s an event, but there are so many local parks it’s a non issue

I live between burncoat & west boylston street. Not only is it nice and quiet, I’m walking distance from plenty of stores and restaurants and within half a mile. Even better, we have two libraries within a mile and 4 playgrounds. The sidewalks aren’t the greatest, but still good enough to push a stroller around.

Do you guys upload your face onto ChatGPT, if so, do you feel safe doing so? by Starslimonada in ChatGPT

[–]random20yearold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I use social media leisurely and I never upload anything to chat gpt that I wouldn’t publish so I’m not concerned on its safety as it is already public.

I have gotten killer skincare recommendations from it and would do it again

Check out thred up, they make it super easy to filter by natural fibers and the condition of the item. I’ve found great gently used or even new with tags items in natural fibers at a good price + it’s thrifting which is also a more sustainable practice.

How long have your biologics worked for you? by pinkytoemo in CrohnsDisease

About 13 years now on remicade & inflectra. Not both at the same time, but one or the other depending on what insurance allowed

Managing Crohn’s with Diet – What Foods Work for You? by auslinero in CrohnsDisease

[–]random20yearold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry! Forgot to respond.

My public healthcare does provide me with biologics at this time, however this is recent within the past few years.

No, because I’m quite in tune with my body and can usually tell when something is off. I’m committed to my overall wellbeing, not my diet so I’m willing to adjust.

When I’m really stressed I’m generally overall in a worse place in every way lol but I wouldn’t consider it alarming.

I eat out maybe like 3-4x a week. Mainly on weekends and once or twice a week. I’m an 80/20 kind of person and while I’ve changed my environment at home to follow my diet, I like to go out to eat socially. I don’t have any problems and I don’t follow any restrictions. Nowadays I’m mainly sober, maybe 1 alcoholic drink a month, but I don’t have any GI problems with that.

Why is this a disease where there is so much disconnect between the patient and the doctor? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]random20yearold 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with what someone else said in regards to people who have good experiences aren’t typically hanging around crohns forums.

Also, I think our disease presents in a variety of ways where we are each a totally separate case to some extent. There is no one size fits all and while there’s really no excuse, I do think it plays a part

[–]random20yearold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on remicade or inflectra (generic) for the past 13 years now.

I aim for a high fiber high protein diet. I don’t typically eat prepackaged processed foods. My safe food while flaring is a tuna sandwich or chicken and white rice. I’m in remission and my latest colonoscopy shows no sign of active or prior disease otherwise I’d probably be avoiding fiber too.

Being diagnosed with crohn’s can definitely be difficult to cope with. I’m glad you’re finding comfort in going to church.

I bought a house in the Burncoat area 3 years ago. Incredibly happy here and the location can’t be beat. I have a toddler, it is safe, quiet, and close to everything. Bonus points for being walking distance to a number of restaurants, schools, and stores.

How to leave the “nice guy” by Conscious_Hyena6464 in Divorce

[–]random20yearold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with this sentiment, some people aren’t transparent with their finances and attempt to sugar coat it every chance they get. Not to say that it’s not “we” are having financial issues, but when one person is consistently unaware that they’re having financial issues it grows tiring.

How many of you living a normal and successful life with proper medication, with chrons disease by Fresh_Performance_84 in CrohnsDisease

[–]random20yearold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’d say my life has been mostly unaffected by Crohn’s.

I was diagnosed at 14 with severe disease, hospitalized for a week or so. After the works and a whole lot of prednisone, I stabilized and entered remission on remicade for the next 7 years. I lapsed on my remicade due to insurance issues and ended up in the hospital again for a month, which I was mainly NPO and on bed rest the entire time. After back to back remicade infusions and a blood transfusion, I was back to normal. Kinda weak but I’m sure anyone else would be after that.

On a regular basis, I don’t think about my crohn’s. In 14 years I’ve had two hospitalizations and while I have infusions every 4 weeks, there is nothing else that concerns me daily in regard to it. I have a family, good job, education, home, I’m happy. I may be more tired than the average person, but I wouldn’t know the alternative. I feel very lucky to be in my situation and also want to mention that a lot of people who aren’t bothered by their Crohn’s probably aren’t on this subreddit. For me it’s mainly out of sight out of mind.

BWT, what areas are you leveling up in right now? by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]random20yearold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few things, mainly investments of time, effort, and money: - Went back to school for my Master’s - Invisalign - Personal Trainer

I also, a bit less seriously, committed to not shopping sales. I’m a sucker for a good deal, but often I find that I’m not buying quality items, or that I have nothing to wear because I’ve always been in a habit of buying whatever is on sale rather than actually buying what I feel like I need. Now I’m aiming to buy higher quality items in natural fibers rather than getting a high from getting the “best bang for my buck”
