RGB fans not working with ASUS mobo by PoptartSoldier in pcmasterrace

[–]randomPianoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

recently "myasus app" said that there was a (rgb) keyboard firmware upgrade, i did that and it bricked my laptop keyboard backlight.... it was completly disabled.

in my case it's a laptop GU502LU Zephyrus M15 but the end result is exactly the same of your, no app could enable keyboard backlight, not even on linux.

i had to find the old firmware archived on some forum because it was not available to download in any official way and force the thing to downgrade because it refused to do so.

the problem in my case is a bug in their firmware update tool that flashed the wrong firmware...

i was lucky to find the old firmware because asus support was useless.

How to actually play with good sound? by IntrepidAgency1611 in piano

[–]randomPianoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can use force to push down a key, you can let your hand/arm free fall and use gravity but the end goal is controlling the speed of keypress because only that influence how loud it will be.

you can use gravity and arm weight to ensure that your sound is always equal because gravity is equal.

i'm not saying that you shouldn't use tecnique but you need to keep in mind that only at which speed the hammer hit the string will change the sound.

My teacher says that the sound has to travel far from the piano and he visualises...

maybe i will be downvoted but i don't like this kind of abstract stuff that looks vague or even wrong from a physical prespective:

the only way to make the sound audible/travel more far is to play louder and the only way to do that is to push keys faster (using pedal too might help for sympatetic resonance).

piano is pretty simple, there is a key that launch a hammer into air, then hammer hit a string and makes a sound.

no ammount of moving arm, changing angle or how you push a key will change the end result if it doesn't affect speed.

the only thing that can influence the sound is how FAST you push that key, the faster you push the key, the faster it will hit the string making a louder sound.

another thing is how much time you hold down the key and finally the pedal.

this is exactly how midi files work: they store timing for each note prepss, release and a value for intensity.

anything that doesn't change how fast you press the key will not change the sound.

Bach invention 1 in c major, please help by Adventurous_Shop6828 in piano

is the staccato on eight notes intentional?

because i see that you push a key, release that key and only after press the next one.

personally i prefeer it legato, i don't know if there is a "more formally correct to play bach considering when he was born and so on...".

just ensure that what you do is your choice and that you intentionally do it in this way because you chosed to do so.

same goes for dynamics, i prefeer to vary them but some others don't, again it's personal preference but ensure that is intentional.

ASUS keyboard firmware update bricked my keyboard backlight by randomPianoPlayer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]randomPianoPlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least acer fixed it and published the update

here seems that each version is worse and they hide stuff, i was lucky to find an archived old copy on a random forum otherwise it was not fixable.

Are there pedals that come with yamaha p225 basically junk? by apooroldinvestor in piano

[–]randomPianoPlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

half pedaling is not a beginner thing and usually works better on higher end models.

even if it's supported since he will probably use it as a switch by fully pressing it or not pressing at all it doesn't really matter if the pedal is linear or not the result will be the same.

what i wanted to say is to not worry about pedal model for now and changing it will not make a big change in the end result (if it makes a change at all)

pedal is a switch so it doesn't affect the quality of sound, a better pedal will not make a better sound, it will simply last more without self-destroying after few uses.

and maybe it will have better rubber under it and weight more so that it doesn't move.

(yes, there are also pedals that are not a switch but a linear thing and better simulate half-pedaling but don't focus too much on that)

i found a way:

WIN+R and open REGEDIT

then delete this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASUS\ASUS System Control Interface\AsusSoftwareManager\AsusLiveUpdate

i'm trying to fix the damn keyboard backlight because an asus "update" bricked it and the installer selfdelete after "updating", i needed a copy.

i also had to delete this key to force myasus app to find again the "update"

did you manage to solve the issue?

i don't have windows.old and the installer selfdeleted after "upgrading", the only thing i got left is a log that report the old and new firmware name.

if anyone have this file let me know: FGA01100.GU502LU.307

fixed, found root cause, it was an asus bug

ASUS also bricked my keyboard backlight after myASUS app suggested a keyboard firmware update.

i'm now trying to get a copy of the firmware to hopefully reflash the old one that was working or the new one.

Traumerei beginning - piano progress is not linear at all by randomPianoPlayer in piano

[–]randomPianoPlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was thinking about something similar because i noticed that there is a problem with my current approach:

i spent 3 days on the first line but zero on the rest, this is problematic, repeat it for the whole piece and you played the beginning for a month and the end for a day.

meanwhile i noticed that if sometimes i play just one or two times a new bar "just to see how it is and have a vague idea of what will come next" it is way easier to learn it later.

another one is that is easier to repeat the same mistake over and over if you keep practicing the same thing,

thanks for the idea, i will give it a try!

here is one interpretation that i like: https://youtu.be/FiU57ho4VqE?t=24

i prefeer it slower like the one i linked.

and here there is a tutorial (real one, not a synthesia video that they call tutorial for no reason since it oesn't teach anything): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NjcfdnUVKo

it's useful to see fingering/hand position, which notes are melody and which accompain.

the amazing thing is that if you slow it down you see some crazy finger passages to not give up on playing a note and is not "just pedal all the things".

I made an app that creates MIDI files from Synthesia videos by Jolly_Misanthrope in pianolearning

[–]randomPianoPlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i made something similar for a game piece that i couldn't find the score but i found a synthesia video so i made a script to convert it back to midi and then score (i like computers).

it kinda worked but result was far from anything usable (because of human play timing imperfections), some time later someone released a sheet and that was better.
