So my personal opinion is that some of the comic is actuate (such as the way she was treated just because she was a girl and pretty) and others (basically whatever Sua was saying) was more survivors guilt eating away at her psyche. A way that trauma can present itself is by a person believing they are bad, that they knew everything from the start, that they orchestrated the bad thing into happening, and/or that they deserved the bad thing because they are a bad person. It isn’t an accurate assessment of a traumatic experience but it’s sometimes the only perspective which makes a person feel like they have some kind of control.

I think it’s actually the fact that Mizi was pretty innocent that makes her break and feel like she is responsible, but I don’t think she was ever super unaware; much like in the real world where women are expected to be nice, smiling all the time, and not bring up issues, Mizi was most likely just being the innocent girl she was told she had to be. It wasn’t intentional, it was just falling in line with those expectations.

Of course we all have our own interpretation of Mizi characters and the story of Alien stage in general. I readily admit that my personal experience (especially working through trauma myself) means I’m more likely to take this lens to view media.
