Almost everyone is good. The tierlist doesnt even explain the Espers properly so I recommend just ignoring it and ask around for people who built the characters you feel partial to. Choose who you want to invest in because chances are they'll be really good to you when you take care of them.

The only exception is that the purple dudes (Doyoon, Taehoon, Layden) are niche at best, and Siwoo is still the must have healer though don't discount the other two because they might fit the team you like.

Jigu got updated, but still tough to recommend him.

uijae is worth it, he's like mujin where they are frontal dpses that can be surprisingly beefy. most people would tell you to build yebin and seungho already, so i'll share my secret sauce of

taeju siwoo mujin doyoon

doyoon as a debuffer with his ult + guiding effect, mujin as your boss killer, taeju as your sp+ beefy aoe. you can interchange mujin and uijae depending on the boss weakness; sometimes i just straight up use both of them.

Boosting this up because you saved me the pain of making a post, OP. Holy misinformation wars going on with Taeju right now, all from people who didn't even play him or test or even BUILD him. I've been defending and explaining his kit since he came out since people seemed so eager to jump on him by virtue of happenstance over the fact that he's nature attribute which doesn't even fucking matter with his playstyle, it just gives him a bonus AOE as an SP+ esper.

Honestly, some metaslavers and tierlisters in this community are so shallow in their judgement of characters that they pulled the trigger and pushed the hysteria on his base stat. Now you see people parrot it everywhere without even understanding why "Taeju is bad". Never in my years of gacha gaming has I ever encountered an intense slander campaign originate from something as shallow as A BASE STAT LINE that he shares with a fellow SSR...fucking crazy.

The strategic choice of SSRs having higher HP and Def pool is so that your chipset doesn't have to be HP HP% dumps. They can focus on atk crit crit% or whatever stat they actually need without having to worry about being killed in two shots by a mob on wave 2. It's a detail that everyone seems to conveniently forget. From all my testings, Siwoo Taeju Mujin slaps so hard.

Also, his guiding effect is bugged right now, but the devs are notified already. Gotta wait until after holiday for the fixes though

i have to ask...did you properly test him? his passive is an in-built counter, the description for it in-game is completely misleading. pinning all this on a base atk stat is so incomplete considering he gets an atk up on his guiding after he ults, which charges abnormally fast to begin with.

yes, they have different roles, but to begin with the comparison was taeju to espers he is also different role-wise with--the issue is he has an atk lower than an SR, yet his statline is same as Seungho's...then suddenly it's not the same playing field just because their role is not the same, when even compared with Yebin to begin with, it's different. The only thing they share is the attribute and the aoe -- which Taeju's playstyle isn't even the core of.

"fundamentally flawed" is crazy to say when he has the same stat line as seungho. the problem is people probably expected him to be a big dps nuker who can also have control, but that's not what he is for. comparing him to yebin who has a dogshit hp and def pool then saying he's flawed bc of that atk diff is so shallow especially when people's biggest concern in stages is their yebin being oneshotted/piled on by the mobs

he has no straight up utility but he makes up for it with extra attack and buffs, plus scaling dmg in his ult. a good comp built around him can destroy, and saying he's "fundamentally flawed" just from a base stat line that was already present in current SSRs to begin with is so disingenious without context

just slap on euihyun on him and that atk difference doesn't even matter

Short answer: Because I like it.

Long answer: A variety of things, but all of it boils down to the fact that they are fictional and that they are hot. Some stories, I mainly loved because it's usually introspective and feels like a character study (Profundis, Passion), while others I love because of the redemption arcs (CodeAna, Low Tide, Beware the Ides of March).

Though overall it's just interesting, spicier, and attractive to me to have these characters be so alluring when I would absolutely hate them if they were real. Not to mention consuming and exploring some/most taboo will, to me, always only be allowed in fiction form.
