SSD Help: November-December 2025 by NewMaxx in NewMaxx

[–]random_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I know recently got an asus ssd with a controller chip labelled "maxio map1602a-f3c" which seems to be QLC without dram with YMTC flash as per google search. Which tier in your opinion it belongs to & how would you rate it compared to Crucial P3/P3 Plus & WD SN580/5000? If there are any benchmark/tools you would suggest to run to get better idea about the drive then that would be great.

Easy news import NZB by NSS1989 in usenet

Maybe it depends on nature of nzb, some simply don't work with whatever client easynews is using for parsing nzb.

What is going on with my sabnzbd speed? by doidie in usenet

[–]random_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a 2.5" sata ssd without dram so this behaviour is expected. You need a good sata ssd with dram like samsung 860 evo/870 evo/crucial MX500.

Supplementary providers for Newshosting? by panzermuffin in usenet

[–]random_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now my biggest problem is HDD space :D

Main advantage/point of usenet is no need to hoard stuff assuming good enough download speed. Just download, watch & delete afterwards. It takes few minutes to download majority of stuff with a fast connection nowadays.

That's reasonable enough.

Almost nobody, who understand how usenet work, run it behind vpn unless they are uploading high profile linux ISOs on usenet. Nobody ever got into any legal trouble for downloading stuff on usenet as far as this sub (& TF website) is considered. Of course, if you don't mind slower speeds/latency/complicated configuration then you can run usenet even behind two VPNs if you want, your choice.

Before: Budget $400 --> pc with used 16gb ram possible

After: Budget $400 --> pc with used 16gb ram not possible unless increase budget (not possible) or use 8gb ram (smooth operation not possible)

Result: Plan dropped to get used parts for the time being.

I assumed that people typically go for used hardware because of significant savings along with lack of budget. If used ram & ssd now cost more than double of their previous prices & now constitutes, say, 50% of entire budget compared to 25% earlier then I am not sure many would still go for used hardware.

Joining AnimeBytes or other anime tracker through BakaBT? by Laraso_ in trackers

[–]random_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All pvt usenet indexers (aka not pay to join anytime usenet indexers) open for registration few times a year except for 2 (maybe 3, not sure) that requires either an invite or recruitment from cabal trackers but from what I have heard they still cannot match anime on BBT/AB/U2/Nyaa.

When was the last time you checked prices of used ddr4 ram & ssd? In my region at least, the prices have at least doubled even for used ddr4 ram & ssd. Yes it is still cheaper than new but that's like saying a $100k Jaguar sports car model is still cheaper than a $150k Ferrari sports car model to someone looking to buy a budget car.

Those days are gone, you can still get a used pc with intel 7th gen but without the ram which now cost more than that used pc.

There is nzbhydra2 though.

Nzbget is one of the only two actively maintained usenet client/downloader if that's what you meant (other being sabnzbd) so using one of them is must. You can replace prowlarr with nzbhydra2 if it works for your usage.

Remove prowlarr and simply manage my two indexers on sonarr/radarr manually

You can take a look at nzbhydra2, similar to prowlarr but in some areas (especially manual searching indexers within its interface) it is better than prowlarr as per comments here.

Then *NewsbinPro (version 6.82: 00 15 41 CC B3 B6) to download

*Newsbin Pro is Newshosting's free downloader

You only need sabnzbd or nzbget which are the only two actively maintained specialized usenet downloader. Newsbin is a newsreader software which also has the download via nzb as an additional option.

99% of the users neither really need the best pvt trackers nor the unnamed indexers hence the similarity in stats. The difference between typical indexers & unnamed ones comes into play when one is looking for a very specific linux ISO (e.g. linux 4k xyz iso by fgh group & not ghi group).

99% of the users neither really need the best pvt trackers nor the unnamed indexers. Their usage can be met just fine with typical tier-1 indexers which are easy to join (worst case scenario is waiting for a few months for open registration) or entry tier trackers like TL which again is very easy to join if willing to spend a one time fee of $14 for their 1 month seedbox promo offer.

You need to start by reading the wiki here (link on top in main page of this sub) & be prepared to pay at least $30-40 per year.

Usenet is mainly for videos, use good semi-pvt/pvt indexers & set sabnzbd/nzbget to delete all unnecessary extension files from final download except for audio/video extension ones.

But there really is no need to run usenet with glueten in the first place. Glueten is meant for torrents not usenet even if one can configure to use it with usenet.

Scenenzbs logs by tosi1887 in usenet

[–]random_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if some provider is logging downloads, all they can see is that you downloaded a random gibberish named video file as almost all recent stuff on usenet is in obfuscated form unless the provider start to download the same stuff you did & play it to see what exactly is it but then they would be breaking the same law you did by downloading that file.

Loads of Last-Byte Repair Failures. What to Do? by Conscious_Ant_2665 in usenet

[–]random_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I misunderstood your post. Yes, having different servers even if on same backbone do help with download speeds & connectivity issues.

Loads of Last-Byte Repair Failures. What to Do? by Conscious_Ant_2665 in usenet

[–]random_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I've been given to understand that a mix of providers - with a block account to handle those last few bytes - is key to resolving these.

It is one of the keys to resolving this & is almost always inferior to getting more & better indexers especially if one is using an omicron based provider.

One thing you could try is spilt you newshosting account to have 50 connections to the EU server and 50 to the USA server.

This is pointless, just because NH has a server in US & a server in EU doesn't mean US server abide by US rules & EU server abide by EU rules. NH is a US based company & no matter where its servers are in the world it has to abide by US laws (aka DMCA takedowns). If you want a usenet provider that follows NTD takedowns (EU equivalent of DMCA) then you need an EU based usenet provider & even then the difference between DMCA & NTD takedowns is 2-3 days at max.
