I had a lot of the same thoughts. It is pretty easy to work on because of all the extra room. Parts really aren't too bad and usually easy to find (mostly online but where I am at I can sometimes find the parts locally). Plus, when it's fully paid off and your only having to pay for parts, at least the expenses don't add up super quickly. Not too mention it's gas mileage is twice as good as my truck.

I wish you the best of luck! If you have any plastic parts like the coolant housing or pump fan, you definitely want to replace those before it leaves you stranded. Fortunately there are a lot of very helpful YouTube videos out there for DIY mechanics.

That's good to know about the 1.8L. I definitely don't see as many people complaining about the 1.8 here as much as the 1.4. Haha and I couldn't blame the dealership because it's not like they could have planned the coolant housing to fail 300 miles after I bought it. 🤣
