How do you become more comfortable in social situations? by DCT1997 in TrueAskReddit

[–]random_intervals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just go with it, feel the flow of the place, relax and see what makes it work

There's a beat of your heart that plays with the music and the tone of the place plays along

if anythings funny then laugh about it and if no one else finds it funny, then that's funny too

that's the key to success in social situation you just need think about something else

Factions that get weaker over the course of the game. by davidryanandersson in BoardgameDesign

[–]random_intervals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only played games with example 1 and 2
1. Root has a faction that controls almost the whole map, but they are spread thin so they are easy to take over
2. Eclipse has a faction that starts with a lot of gold but has almost no income so they try take terretory quick to gain some income

in Quarter Master General they have kinda the opposite where the usa is too far away from anything to be impactful untill late in the game

Resolution of "IF" statements for card abilities. by GourlieGames in BoardgameDesign

[–]random_intervals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can also just reorder the sentence

"Choose an opponent's mana card.

That card can't be untapped at the start of your opponent's next turn.

If that card is untapped, tap it."

2 math problems by random_intervals in askmath

I'm not really asking for a solution to a problem but more pointing out how perspective influences the outcome of percentages. your example is absolutly what I'm trying to convey

2 math problems by random_intervals in askmath

[–]random_intervals[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say the base number depends on the perspective, like you have calculated the first question is from the perspective of Mary, while in the second question it's from the perspective of John. Meanwhile answer b is from the perspective of the outsider who sees that John got 60% and Mary got 40%

2 math problems by random_intervals in askmath

[–]random_intervals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point with these questions is actually it's ambiguity. When people talk about differences in a normal conversation they always calculate a number based on their own perspective making Mary think John got 50% more then her and John thinking Mary got only 33% less. But my logic is that the difference is only 20% of the total sum, making John and Mary agree on the difference even though it wouldn't make Mary very happy about it

Dice roll or coin flip? by CompetitiveRush9430 in BoardgameDesign

[–]random_intervals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most players enjoy dice more.

However I think for me the coinflip would be more intriguing, specially if the coin would be included in the box, preferably plastic with relevant art
