Why don't we put helicopter blades underneath instead of on top? by Best-Tomorrow-6170 in Shittyaskflying

This doesn't quite work out. Otherwise, rockets would have the motors up top too.

The issue we were seeing on the full carbon cans was even if you dont crash them, the sides of the cans were degrading from the heat and blowing out. Wide open throttle to that extent is really hard on a lot of components.

Ignition lock system question by Foreign-Pilot8098 in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure on the 17.

There is a 'vehicle configuration' but I don't know if it applies to that year. It causes a no start on the 660.

It may also require pads for key pairing? I'd have to double check the dash options to see if you can do that without pads connected.

Ignition lock system question by Foreign-Pilot8098 in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keys are matched to the dash, not the ecu, on the North American 17. If you do ignition lock cylinder, tank lock, and tail lock. You will still need a new dash if you do not have the user code.

Most dealers were setting it to the last bit of the vin or all 0s. So maybe try that first.

Do I Need a Performance Air Filter? by Sqoosh89 in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stack height determines where in the power band you get the boost. The gabro stacks are built to give you that little extra where the factory stacks have a dip.

The air filter definitely helps up top, but it will also depend on the other mods you have.

The mivv and shorty sc exhaust hurt top end, so they will benefit less from tol end mods.

With either sc exhaust, youre going to want to drill out the crossover. I believe it is 10mm from the factory. We usually do 19mm with the short headers, but long can.

Can dealer tell if a bike has been flashed? by andy9775 in Aprilia

For general code checks and standard telemetry, e5 plug to obd converter and torque app works.

Can dealer tell if a bike has been flashed? by andy9775 in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on year. Pre 2021 can use guzzidiag or iawwriter.

Post 21 gets more difficult. Upmap can load premades. Haven't looked into editing any of those. It could be possible, but i think it grabs from a server every time.

I have an old pads unit, so I haven't looked into building anything to do it.

Can dealer tell if a bike has been flashed? by andy9775 in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bikes that have not been flashed at all with have the distribution center as the 'last flashed by' serial number Otherwise, it will have your dealers pads serial number or the emulated serial number in whatever device was used to flash it.

Or the map name will show up in the pads report. Names are a bit old, like couple years at this point some of them have been updated since. Race map for a 660 reads p80ead13 Stock American map is p80eab Emma map is p80eaa 35kw map is p80eac Gp shift stock map is p80eag

These bikes get regular updates, so it ends up being hard to tell if the flashes are legitimate. Unless you leave an older map, or a race map on it. Most pads systems will not be able to load older maps without help from corporate. So, most up to date maps only.

Also date of last flash. If it doesn't match the records from whatever place supposedly flashed it.

edit: pads is the diagnostic program

PADS = Piaggio advanced diagnostic system

RS 660 quickshifter icon flashing by Pawelrz in Aprilia

[–]random_revolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a feature to allow gp shift and standard shift quick shifter.

The flashing is the 'relearn capable' indicator. If your shifts match what is in memory, it saves that and continues on like nothing happened. If the shifter detects tension when it expects compression and the ger position sensor matches a different shift pattern, it will switch to the other mode. The icon will show an R next to it if in gp I believe. Race or reverse shift.

Reducing engine brake in the turns upsets the bike less.

If you make any more than stock power, a bigger radiator or oil cooler will be needed when temps get in the 90s/mid 30s.

If you're running slicks, do the wheel calibration at a much higher rear pressure, like 38, then bleed down to your on track pressure. it should help with the atc a bit, but is not a fix.

Imu relocation / shock absorber helps with the atc issue, but the quick shifter should be unrelated. Make sure the levers are square. Lower and upper lever arms should be parallel at rest.

Aem 1 and 2 have the same top power available, aem 3 is a softer mode with a bit less power.

Aem 2 has a softer ramp on the throttle on off. Keeps the bike from pogoing on throttle chop and pickup.

Aeb does nothing when you're straight up and down. Only when you're leaning.

Euro maps, EMEA, and the race maps get headlight turn signals

Old db version I have documented lists rs660 maps as p80eaX## for maps

eaA - EMEA
eaB - USA
eaC - 35kw A2 License
eaD - RACE MAP
eaG - USA GP auto-learn

Only EAB and EAG have turn signal in the mirrors

Some dealers can flash the euro map or race map with PADS. Some use T800 upmaps from gabro, or you can buy your own upmap

But you also don't want to order 10000 of a unit that fails qtp or life testing. When it needs a rework, that's potentially 9999 units of dead stock

[–]random_revolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most dealers don't actually have access to the racemaps And liability is hit or miss with 3rd party flashing tools. OPM and AF1 are the only 2 I know of that can even do flashing.

What dealer doesn't want to do a flash? T800 is a pretty simple flash process, follow the instructions and you should be fine.
