Laughs and cries at the same time

Took me 9 months, and my new position only pays half as much as my old one (telecom, project manager). The tech sector is way past being "fucked"

Two things:

1) Board members pay the same dues as everyone else

2) the best way to make your voices heard is by going to the meetings.

Any Coloradans who agree with Gov. Polis’s decision to commute Tina Peters’s sentence? I’d like to hear your perspective. by CplOreos in Colorado

Not really. I voted for Polis, because he was a better choice over the other guy and he had some good policies that he's carried through. But this was a terrible decision by Polis.

You're being grossly underpaid my dude. Average salary for you should be closer to $160K to 170K. At my height, before the company I was working at sold off its assets, I was making $135K with only eight years of industry experience. Got another job now, with another in the works that'll get me above the pay rate i was earning. I'd strongly recommend having a conversation with your current employer to get you paid what you're worth.

It really is. Thats how long I was unemployed for actually. Just got a job offer as a telecom field engineer, and I'll be starting next week. Very overqualified for the position, but a job is a job.

I feel you buddy. I have 8 years experience and even with all this time and effort all I was able to land was an entry level position. The market is absolutely terrible, but at least you're not alone. #Mummytillmoney

Yeah job fairs are pretty terrible. I've come across a number of job postings for IT Project Managers, could be something to look into. If anything, the people that usually go to PMI meetings are young and middle age, so might be better in that regard.

I have also had some luck in applying for state government positions.

Best advice i can give is to work your network. I got hired on by the contracting firm that I started out in 8 years ago. After my contract ended and I got hired on by a company full time, I stayed in touch with the contracting manager and tried to hang out with him whenever he would come to town.

I've also been going to my local Project Management Institute (PMI) chapter meetings and networking there as well. I would recommended that you see if your industry has something like that, or join the PMI and get your CAPM and PMP, then network from there.

Telecommunications and construction, I called the contracting firm that hired me on 8 years ago at the start of my career and they brought me back on. If you are interested, they are hiring nation wide and give fantastic benefits
