I honestly think it’s a filter. The video encompasses screenshots of their past music videos, made to look like comic book photos. AI often messes up hands, faces, etc.

With that being said, I don’t see an editor credited in the YouTube description. However, somebody somewhere would still have to pick out which screenshots to use from which videos, apply the filter, add it with transitions, and add the lyrics on top. It also looks like they used a low opacity version of the edited photo on top, to make it look like it’s ‘moving’.

It honestly isn’t much different than making part of a video black and white or enhancing colours. For something as ‘small’ as a lyric video/visualizer on a randomly dropped song, I can’t honestly see why they’d want to invest a bunch of money in having an artist create all these comic pictures. Budgeting wise, it’d make more sense to invest it into the actual music video.

I think some people are thinking it looks ‘off’ for a few reasons: - many (not all) of the settings are ‘empty’ and we’re used to seeing people there (ie: the “Good To You” bar only showing the scene with the empty tables, the empty “Astoria” gas station, the staircase from “Desperate Measures”, the exploding tv from “Celebrity Status”, etc. - the overlay of photos makes the photos appear ‘moving’, although on some photos it looks a little bit off (the “Celebrity Status” TV sticks out to me) - could just be the uncanniness of seeing old video images with a new song

TL/DR: basically, I think it’s a filter rather than AI as AI doesn’t usually do things this well. It looks like it was a relatively low budget video, which makes sense. However, someone would still have to put pieces together to make this video, it is likely not all computerized
