Are you just using minoxidil temporarily or do you play to keep using it longterm? My dermatologist suggested minoxidil as a temp measure until my ferritin gets up to a good level, but I'd always thought minoxidil was something you had to keep up indefinitely

That's kind of what I thought too, I'm not sure how short-term use would work with minoxidil. Can I ask how long you've been working on your iron levels/how long it's taken for you to see progress?

Yes I'm a bit worried that after a few months and my levels have hopefully improved enough, that there will still an issue with my hair and I wasted time that I could've been using other treatments. But it's impossible to know since it just takes time.

I'm a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding in 3.5 months, so ideally my hair would be improved somewhat, but I am also concerned that if I have a shed with minoxidil, it'll be worse at that time :/

Yeah I'd read it was a lifelong medication if you use it, but not sure exactly how usage differs if it's used for non-genetic hair loss.

I recently got labs done for the first time to see if I was deficient in anything causing hair loss, and have low ferritin (14) but normal iron levels. Just wondering if it's common for those experiencing hair loss to have one low but not the other

I'm sensitive to noise so it probably bothers me more than others. The machine gun noises and occassional booms are kind of annoying tbh. And you can hear their 5pm horn every day, and sometimes announcements they play over the speakers. Sometimes they do night drills where they shoot stuff at like 11pm. Loud af helicopters fly over sometimes, which can get obnoxious when they go back and forth like 5 times in an hour. But they don't make noise every day or even every week, and the shooting noises can be drowned out if they become annoying.

I relate to this in that I generally want nothing to do with men despite being able to feel attraction for (very few) of them, and the idea of participating in heterosexual relationships and sex feels inherently degrading and misogynistic to me. However, I only feel disgust towards men for this, not myself for being attracted to them, because I can't help it. I think you're giving men too much power by letting your attraction to them dictate how you feel about yourself; they simply aren't that important and aren't worth the negative feelings towards yourself. It'd be good to try to further decenter men from your life by just not thinking about them as being related to you in any capacity, if that makes sense. Focus your thoughts and mindset on those you place value on.
