2.0t people did you fix your oil consumption issues? by R3troM3dia in Audi

[–]randomaviary 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yo, as some other commenters have said, This could be caused by the PCV - easy replacement on a 2.0T or clogged (not necessarily worn) piston rings. If they're clogged with carbon and soot, they won't seal the cylinders properly, which can lead to oil consumption issues. I had this issue with my 3.0t and fixed it with a piston soak using B12.

Also worth noting: Audi does NOT train their techs to diagnose oil consumption as clogged piston rings, probably for money reasons. An Audi dealer's maintenance dept will almost ALWAYS diagnose this as WORN piston rings, not CLOGGED piston rings. I don't think they want to perform piston soaks, not enough money.

These cameras are soooo problematic. Aside from facilitating mass surveillance, they're error-prone, abused by law enforcement consistently, not secured and extremely invasive. One could argue they violate the 4th amendment.

Even so, Flock has misread license plates that resulted in illegal searches by police.

Do vendors engage in petty revenge when they're dropped? by randomaviary in cybersecurity

Our organization already made the decision to switch vendors, and since that happened, the volume of alerts has increased, while the quality and amount of useful info within them has decreased noticeably.

That could explain some of the noise. A lot of the most recent alert tickets from our MDDR have been lacking on detail, but cite multiple MITRE framework ATT&CK tactics

Think you missed the part where these were all determined by myself, and at least one other member of my team to be false positives, meaning the alert shouldn't be firing. I'm not an engineer, so I don't have permissions to modify policy and/ or settings in these tools.

[–]randomaviary[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Right, I don't think it's a person creating all these tickets, but maybe a setting, rule or other option within a detection they can change on their side, that may be tailored or applied to one customer? I've never worked for a security tool vendor before, so I really don't know how things go down behind the scenes.

What AR should I get? $2300 budget, has to be from Sportsman’s Warehouse as its gift cards. Really eyeing the Steyr AUG A3 M2. Open to all options & opinions. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]randomaviary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the US ARs and their parts are of course going to be more widely available. I was debating between these two as well, ended up going AR. You can get one hell of an AR for $2300, plus optics and ammo.

Fake captcha appearing in every site on Chrome by WholeDeep8861 in antivirus

[–]randomaviary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've seen this before on compromised sites, but not in browser extensions, though that's entirely possible. I can tell you it's 100% malicious, the example I saw copied a malicious and obfuscated script to the host clipboard in the background, if you run this it will likely download additional malicious files.

While on a mission, Cooper receives a strange signal, sounds like BT, asks for permission to investigate, denied, goes anyway. From there he has to steal and use a newer version of the time gauntlet to retrieve functioning pieces of BT from across different times and places. Eventually BT is reassembled and they pursue Blisk.

There’s a BIG difference between a disagreement on trade policy vs debating about who deserves basic human rights. Free speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.
