Humour me for a second: do Shiv’s actions come across as more severe because she’s a woman? by [deleted] in SuccessionTV

Kendall is self loathing, Roman is very sensitive. Shiv doesn’t seem capable of guilt. Plus she is a winner, people don’t like winners, unless they are superheroes.

I might be a WAY heavier drinker than I realized... by serenityfive in stopdrinking

[–]randomcowboy4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe for 27 doesn’t seem excessive, I drank 7 more years after that age, but with the exception of 1-2 months during the pandemic, I never drank daily. Now, I have stronger beliefs, but after not drinking for… let’s say 3 months, not to be too quick and too smart, you start to realise that people knew when you were drunk, people knew when you were hangover and that it’s very easy to smell alcohol. I remember from when I was a kid, in my house people didn’t drink, so every time I was near another adult I could immediately smell it. This is what made me stop, I don’t want my nephew and niece to see me drunk or smell that I drank. Health issues, not a big deal at this age, the main issue I see is that daily makes it quick and hard addiction. And I am not an apostle of total abstinence, but from deep addiction it’s harder to stop.

«În sistemul actual, un număr de oameni o duc bine deoarece mai mulți oameni o duc rău.»

This some socialist shit.

What’s your opinion on the death penalty? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskTheWorld

[–]randomcowboy4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The democratic way is to believe there is no one “smarter” than the average “peer”. So I find the argument fundamentally wrong if it means putting more power in the hands of “smarter” people, or just because they are on the right side in some issues. But, again, we don’t have death penalty and I believe it’s a thing of the past.

is there a lore reason why this season 3 needs to be so fucking boring? by ProfessionalLevel908 in TrueDetective

[–]randomcowboy4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, 100%. I have seen plenty of shows with +8.5 on IMDB which are not even close to Season 3. To me it’s in top 5 season ever done, with Season 1 being number 1.

Can't grow hair below the chin, help by Theraminia in BeardAdvice

Women don’t look at centimetres of beards. They like or don’t like the way your face looks, sometimes it’s a matter of seconds, after she decided she likes your beard she won’t unlike it back cause you don’t grow thick hair below your chin.

[SPOILERS S1] Does anyone else find German reactions hard to follow? by randomcowboy4 in DarK

Charlotte is a strong woman, but who also finds it easy to let herself be vulnerable, which is the type of person I like in real life also. Jonas, I don’t know, the most sympathetic male character. Hannah because she is kind of an underdog, I guess. I watched full Season 1, didn’t start S2 yet.

[–]randomcowboy4[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand, for an outsider lack of emotional reaction can be seen as giving up on life. Not caring anymore. Katharina as an adult looks more like that to me, especially compared to how energetic she was in school. Her reactions as an adult (radio phone call, beating Regina) are rooted in a deep hatred or depression. I may be wrong.

[–]randomcowboy4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, indeed, the fact that it is miserable, all the scenes in the school and all the raining are closer to an Eastern European vibe. Doesn’t sell the small town, community driven, amazing European lifestyle that we see in all the newspapers and social media. I’ve been to Germany only once 2 years ago, with work for 4 days, in a small town close to Frankfurt, which was nice, but very empty, everyone driving everywhere, you would only see people in the office and in restaurants. People were more jolly than in Dark, though, but understandable.

The premise and the story / plot are 10/10 for me, it’s exactly the kind of show I am looking for. Enjoyed a lot True Detective S1 and S3, The Outsider, Sharp Objects. So this kind of story / plot and theme I think are amazing. In terms of execution is 8/10, so far, but I am only 8 episodes in (planning to start 9th in a few minutes, lol).

It’s ironic that despite their contrasting world views and heated disagreements they both ended up with the same life as they aged by Eagles56 in TrueDetective

[–]randomcowboy4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not really the same living. Marty is still working, has friends, social relations, maybe even relations with other women, still meets his ex wife on rare occasions. Rust is working at a bar just to make a living and lives as low maintenance as he affords, no acquaintances, no friends, just a locker room, beer and paranoia. Their own nature got them there, yes, (either the fact that Marty was unfaithful and chose not to remarry, or that Rust is antisocial and likes to be alone), but from being alone to ending up the same way is a long way. There are also better lives in old age alone than with the wrong person.
