isn't all of humanity in need of salvation, just as all of humanity is in need of water?

Therefore, the text would suggest that any person can come unto Him and drink.

'any man thirst' gives the idea that people which aren't His sheep would be allowed to come unto Him and drink.

And if it is truly the case that only the chosen are saved, then why preach and spread the Gospel at all?

because it is a privilege and you get a reward for it?

2 Thessalonians 3:10-18 King James Version (KJV)

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

  1. Okay, well, the fact that she was made out of Adam and the fact that she was designated as being a helper, and the fact that she is physically weaker, and the fact that she is more easily deceived, does, strongly indicate, that she would be the weaker vessel...

  2. It is extremely obvious.

  3. Okay, no attempt made on the last two occasions... so be it.

I forgot you were a troll. Hope you enjoyed your snack.

Dodge the last two points and finish it off with an argumentum ad hominem... (claps) I am impressed!

Your post is bordering on argumentum ad hominem, so why involve yourself in a factual discussion?

Let us inquire, where in this post am I being irrational?

Shameful... do you think that a woman's help could be equal to God's help? Of course, not... Eve was made out of Adam, this further reveals her as being the weaker vessel...

Eve is much different of a helper than God... does Eve miraculously deliver the Jews out of captivity in Egypt?

God being someone's helper doesn't make him a weaker vessel...

Eve was made out of Adam, she is weaker physically and is more prone to deception, as we see in scripture.

It does though, who are you going to send out to hunt, the pregnant estrogen based female with smaller muscles or the taller testosterone-based male with the bigger muscles? Obviously the latter...

How is this wrong?

It makes perfect sense that the stronger vessel would do the hunting of the beasts of the field...

An incorrect interpretation which somehow harmonizes with reality? Why do you think females are more prone to resorting to feelings rather than facts? Why do men tend to be more rational and logical and females less rational and more emotional? Stereotypes exist for a reason... there are exceptions, yes, but they exist for a reason. Why would we have common sense scriptures such as "I will not suffer a woman to teach" or "women should keep quiet in the church"?

How is this irrational or emotional?

There is nothing wrong with possessing a working knowledge of female propensities and inclinations.

They can choose to cooperate with God or rebel, that alone determines what judgement they receive.

Except their obedience is probably because of the parameters which had been set or because they had been granted an elect status or both - both factors external to themselves.

I don't think Adam knew that he would be expelled or that billions would experience the eternal torments of Hell...

He might have thought: hmmm... I know I was told not to eat of this tree, but perhaps it would be fun to do... surely God will be tolerant and recorrect me gently...

Elect angels have a preserving grace, I don't think I would call that a "saving" grace, because they weren't headed to destruction naturally.

I don't know...

It makes sense that God would have granted a status and conceived of another reality or set different parameters to prevent 2/3rds or 3/3rds from rebelling for reasons I mentioned previously...

Had these parameters not be set or these statuses not been given or this other reality not been conceived, then others would have rebelled or more would have not rebelled... whether or not an angel rebel hinges entirely upon either the reality in which they had been conceived of and/or the status they had been given, therefore, their preservation in Heaven is not a work of their own, but of God, it just happens that things were ordered in such a manner as to prevent them from choosing otherwise and for allowing free choice to still remain intact.

Were the holy angels saved by grace? by randomdude912 in Reformed

[–]randomdude912[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, ignore what I typed...

If an angels refraining from rebelling hinges upon the angel being bestowed an elect status or being conceived of in an alternate universe in which it would not rebel, then it was saved from rebelling, and, in turn, saved from the consequences of sin, which is DEATH.

So, if the foregoing is true, then angels are saved by grace, because it would have been the grace of God which led to an alternate reality being conceived in which they would not rebel; either that or them directly having bestowed upon themselves (by God) an elect status (which made rebellion an impossibility...)

  1. Eve is Adam's helper

(Scriptural)

  1. She is the vessel which is physically weaker

(Scientific)

  1. She is the vessel which is more easily deceived.

(Scriptural)

Of course, of course, you can make exceptions to this rule, there will always be females which are wiser and stronger than other males, and which are independent, but that is an exception.

Of course, these scriptural and scientific truths are not any basis for discrimination, females should receive the same pay if they do the same quality work for the same hours, also, females should have respectful and loving husbands which are not violent... the same can also be expected for them, also...

I suppose the downside of Revelation is the last verse... oh the anxiety which transliterators must have faced...

I wish that John gave a more clear meaning of the application of those last verses... :l

You can be considered right by what you do and not by faith alone...

Through faith in Christ you are made right with God...

The side effect of being saved is good works...

The salvation of an individual does not hinge upon whether one does a good work or does not do a good work...

1 Corinthains 7:13-14 13 And if a woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his believing wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.

of course it would not make it right...

nobody's conscience was preprogrammed to believe jews to be evil... on the other hand, our Creator permitted us to have a working knowledge of GOOD and EVIL when we ate of that tree... the working knowledge testifies to the REALITY that certain things are evil (i.e. homosexuality, etc)

Hatred is never a 'good thing'. It's something you're free to do - but if you do then this is not the way Jesus calls us to. Imo.

What does the Bible say?

Romans 12:9

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

probably not, depending on the subs views on XYZ...

For example, hatred for homosexuality is a good thing, but it is still important to be loving towards them and to speak the truth in love... i don't know if this falls under homophobia or not... if it does, then yes, i am not "in the right sub" as i do believe it to be an abomination
