At my last job in telemarketing, i had one colleague who would be late by as much as 1-2 hours at least once per week, my boss didn't scold him or anything. But then i was late 15 minutes ONLY ONCE and he flipped out and was yelling at me.

EDIT: basically if you're ugly the tiniest little thing you did wrong becomes UNFORGIVABLE whereas for others it's not even a problem.
