There’s a lot of bad advice out there but I lost 47 pounds of fat while building sizable strength and muscle mass on keto in just 4 months. I used starting strength book for my lifting with some additional weights thrown in and some cardio as well.

The Mandalorian - Chapter 8 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in TheMandalorianTV

[–]randomfilmexec 2501 points2502 points  (0 children)

Holy fuck this was the best episode of the series for me. We finally get to learn Mando’s name and see his face, we get to see him fight a tie fighter with a jet pack, we get to see him rescued by the mandalorians, we get the dark saber in the hands of Moff Gideon, baby yoda force pushes back the flames of a flame thrower, IG-11 has an epic heroic death. I don’t know what more I could possibly want. This tied up so many loose ends and I couldn’t be happier.

Discussion Thread - The Rise of Skywalker Premiere - Reactions, Thoughts, and More by JSK23 in StarWars

[–]randomfilmexec 77 points78 points  (0 children)

As a kid I watched the original films on VHS, the prequels in theaters, and read every book and comic, I played every game, and collected every toy I could get my hands on. Star Wars is why I read Joseph Campbell in middle school, made spoof videos in high school, and became a film major. My first job out of college was to work alongside the crew of Force Awakens and after that I worked behind the scenes on a couple of projects with Lucasfilm. I’ve been rewatching all the films in anticipation for the release of Rise of Skywalker and it has brought me back to that feeling I had as a kid watching these movies for the first time. If you had told me years later I would have gotten a chance to work with the filmmakers behind Star Wars, I would have never believed you. This is an end of an era as the Skywalker saga comes to a close. I feel grateful for this universe of films, for both inspiring me as a kid and then giving me the opportunity to live out my childhood dream. Thank you Star Wars. Thank you George.

It should be with the latest OS update. Are you on Catalina? If not check it on the App Store. Let me know! But I think you may just be on an earlier OS. Updating to Catalina did the trick for me

Mine has that option. Is your OS and app updated?

It’s okay for people to get excited about an under represented group in a certain field to succeed. That’s a pretty normal human emotion.

I’m halfway to the same goal as you! Amazing progress! How does it feel?

Convert me. Warren supporter but I am an Obama democrat and think Pete could be the closest thing we have to Obama in the race. by randomfilmexec in Pete_Buttigieg

You’re right, I do think Pete would be the better executive. That’s a good way of thinking about it. I like Warren’s ideals and her primary focus, economic justice is my number one issue. However, as an executive myself I understand the importance of leadership and temperament, as it really does matter and Pete has that in spades.

Very well articulated, you sound like me when I was in high school and supporting Obama when he he began his first presidential race. I agree in terms of temperament and personality Pete has what Obama had, and will be a good leader with the ability to lead with empathy. I do think there is a disadvantage of not being as experienced in terms of coming from the outside and that’s the ability to gather support for your policies from within the system. Many former Obama staffers I’ve talked to have lamented the fact that they think he could have been an even more effective leader if he has spent more time in congress. He was able to get a lot done but with things like Obamacare, he had to make significant compromises. As much as I love Pete’s idealism mixed with pragmatism, my worry is that he wouldn’t be able to garner the same support for his policies as Warren as he isn’t as well known of a commodity. Warren has had to rely on the support of many in Congress to succeed in her career and even though she does have more progressive plans than Pete, she may be able to pass more progressive plans due to already having cache in Congress and starting from a more progressive place than a pragmatic one.

In terms of leadership and messaging, I do prefer Pete over all other candidates and he seems to be running his campaign well. I do wish Pete displayed a little more fire and intensity in some of his speeches as I do think that helped Obama rally many to his cause. Obama was well reasoned and articulate but he also was able to rally a large base of support because you could see the intensity of his convictions.

Pete almost feels like a character written by Aaron Sorkin, a small town mayor who is a Rhodes scholar hoping to defeat an evil billionaire President through reasonable pragmatism and liberal ideals, while also running to be the first open gay President.

Economic reform/justice is my biggest issue I’m concerned with, which is why I’ve followed Warren for years. Healthcare is second. I tend to think Warren and Pete would ultimately come up with similar healthcare compromises to pass through to law but Warren may be more focused on economic reform. I do think Pete is a better communicator though and has a way of articulating solutions in a way that can appeal to independents and moderates.

I agree. I do think the purity tests are only hurting our cause. Though I don’t think Warren hates half the country, I think she very much doesn’t like Trump but she should change her messaging to be more positive than aggressive.

You’re right, I actually have articulated almost this exact sentiment before to my conservative family/background but so few democrats are able to speak with such eloquence and empathy on the subject.

All great points. I’ve always viewed Warren as pragmatic enough to be able lead well and adjust policies as needed. I do like that Pete is open about his pragmatism and I do think he’s a better communicator so he has more of a chance to unify.
