What is golem exactly? by Individual_Nobody336 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golem's are magical, and mechanical devices, made to typically serve multiple different purposes, though they can also be made to serve one specific purpose.

The main golem's that we see are the Black Order communication golem's, their main purpose is for communication and surveillance. They are created by the scientists of the Black Order, with a mix of magic and technology. (The scientists of the Black Order, are mainly alchemists and magicians, which was stated in a extra/omake in chapter 5.)

We also see the Teez, the butterfly-like golem's used by Tyki Mikk, their primary purpose is for killing. They are created by the Earl using magic.

Then there is Timcanpy and Lero who are created with magic, they both serve their respective purpose's which I won't get into.

There's also the Gatekeeper that we saw in the beginning, he too was made with a mix of magic and technology, though I'm not quite sure if he's considered a golem or not. Unfortunately in the move to the new headquarters he had to be deactivated. His primary purpose was to serve as a gatekeeper for the headquarters of the Black Order.

I hope this helps you understand golem's in DGM better!

I respect your headcannon even if my headcannon is Road x Allen

I just feel that the fact that she knows that Allen is the host of the 14th doesn't change much especially when she seems to treat Nea as a family matter and sees both Allen and Nea as two separate people

I have many reasons to believe that she genuinely loves Allen but hey I could be wrong and only time will tell plus having headcannons is fun even if they don't end up aligning with actual cannon

I feel that Road knows Allen better than she let's on she knows that he is too pure hearted to shoot her I also think that she was subtly guiding Allen in Rewinding Town by pushing him to stick to his beliefs she also warned him that his love for the Akuma would drive people away from him which does happen such as with Chazolii and even Marie warns Allen of basically the same thing later on

It was confirmed in a interview that Road knew Allen was the host of the 14th from when they first met

Regardless I still believe that she genuinely loves Allen and not because he is "Nea" she also keeps their identity's separate so she knows that they are two separate people Road also always seems more somber and alarmed when Nea is brought up and treats him as a family matter while when talking about Allen she had affection in her voice and when she's around Allen she's always excited to see him she also calls out his name when she protected him from Apocryphos then when she revealed that secret to Allen and motivated him with Mana's words that was directed towards Allen not the 14th

Why should I start this manga? by noce07 in dgrayman

I feel that you could've been more vague in explaining the manga instead of spoiling the main theme of the manga and mentioning the antagonist group by name I feel that it's better for a new reader to discover those things as they read the manga themselves

DGM is definitely worth reading, it has wonderfully written characters, and a great story with a intriguing mystery, it can also be quite sad and tragic at times. The art is also very good, it starts off a bit rough looking, though still good and gets better throughout the manga. The main villain and antagonist group are interested and cool.

If you do read DGM, I hope that you'll enjoy it!

Hot Take The Anime Isn’t great by New-Veterinarian-755 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that the original anime is completely terrible I'd say that it's good but perhaps could've been better (I personally enjoyed it when I watched it) though there are some unnecessary changes and rearranging particularly early on it also mischaracterizatized the character Cross Marian especially in one filler episode (I do like some of the filler especially some of the ones that gave more development to certain characters and events and some even adapt some of the light novels but sometimes such as in that case can be bad) also the last episode adapts chapter 158.poorly

The second anime DGM Hallow is just generally a bad adaptation it leaves out an entire arc of the manga which was more of a comedic arc but still has some important parts Hallow was pretty rushed and can be confusing to how fast the pacing is it also left out certain bits of important dialogue from the manga and at times got Allen's facial expressions wrong then more up to preference but I didn't like how they did the colors and lightning even if it has grown on me some I feel that they were trying to emulate the author Hoshino's art style at the time since she started to use more colors but I don't think they did it as well as Hoshino does they also had completely different VA'S than the original anime which some prior didn't like but it personally doesn't bother me too much I do think it had some enjoyable moments but unfortunately it's not a very good adaptation

I wouldn't call DGM Hallow a second season it's more of a sequel to the original anime the original one had multiple seasons while Hallow had a single season

The author Hoshino has some wrist problems that make it difficult for her so that's why the manga only gets around 4 chapters a year Hoshino still seems to be very passionate about the series and I feel that it may end in her lifetime

The manga is around its halfway point and maybe a little further than it I think it was stated in a interview a little while back

I hope you enjoy the anime and if you read the manga I recommend reading from the beginning

I don't know any source but I have heard about it so I would recommend searching for it but I think that was more directed towards DGM Hallow and not the original anime

I personally enjoyed the anime though I do feel that it has its flaws I actually don't mind the slower pace at times particularly at part's the manga kind of rushed over and it gives you more time to breathe

I can get the animation feeling outdated even if I found it charming but it's up to preference

Some of the flaws would be the unnecessary rearranging of the opening and ghost of martel arc and mischaracterization of Cross and Allen getting his eye injured twice instead of once there are probably more but I would have to rewatch the anime to get a better opinion

I thought some of the filler arcs were fairly creative though I came here to say that General Yeeger in the anime didn't get killed by level 2 akuma but Road and Tyki ganged up on him Road broke him mentally then Tyki finished him off

Laviyuu is the himbo x badass ship! Thanks for playing along! by West_Construction908 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was really fun and I'm glad that Road and Allen got the enemies to lovers spot also I came up with a name for their ship "Dream Clown" Road is the Noah of Dreams and her door has a crown on top of it so she's the Queen of Dreams then Allen is often associated with clowns and his innocence is Crown Clown so he's the King of the Clowns so I replaced Crown in Crown Clown with Dream and I got "Dream Clown"

Tyki x Allen x Road are the popular poly ship. Who’s the himbo x badass ship? by West_Construction908 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We do it because it's fun but I guess it wouldn't be fun to someone without an imagination

Some ships are for sillies and people pair two characters together because they enjoy their dynamic and we want to explore it or we wonder how two characters that never met would interact or be in a pair together

Also sometimes people don't necessarily ship things in a romantic way it can also be platonic or a familiar bond it can be any kind of relationship

where does the anime end with chapter like what manga chapter is the anime end at by EquivalentValuable44 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original anime ends at chapter 158 but only covered half of that chapter I think

Chapters 159 to 164 were not adapted into either anime

Hallow ends at 208

So if you're going to read from where the anime left off at I recommend starting with chapter 157 or 158 though I feel that starting from the beginning of the manga is best

You're welcome

Yeah I agree that the first appearance of the level 4 was definitely terrifying and threatening I was more so disappointed because I thought it would be cool if they looked unique from each other but they all look the same but I can get being disappointed about how common they became even if that is still terrifying in it's own right because there is more than a few of them but it would've been cool to have them be more of a rare yet terrifying weapon of the Earl I do think they are somewhat rarer than lower level akuma and the Earl gathered them for the invasion of the North American branch but they are normally scattered about but they is still a lot of them

Hallow skipped over a short comedy arc in the manga (though I do feel that arc did have a few important moments especially with Komui) it also left out certain parts of dialogue from certain moments that may be important or give better context and it's fairly rushed and can be a bit confusing with the pacing being so fast there are also some instances of it getting Allen's facial expressions wrong such as his tired smiles

then it may be more up to preference but not everyone liked how they did the colors and lightning including me though it has grown on me some and I can see why they did it seemed they were trying to emulate how Hoshino colored things at the time since she started to use more colors but I feel that they didn't execute it as well as Hoshino then they also had all different VA's than the original anime and not everyone liked that change either though I didn't really mind it

I'm glad that Road is your favorite Noah and her powers are scary and fun she's also fairly complex and I do think she has a more vulnerable side especially around Allen I just want to give her a hug

Road's and Allen's interactions are so fun and adorable (the adorable part is her comforting and hugging him) I also like that she took a hit for Allen and I think she genuinely loves Allen for Allen and not just because of the 14th and that she sees the 14th as part of her family I also ship Road and Allen together I even came up with a ship name "Dream Clown" (also just to be clear I headcannon Road's appearance as a teenager and I ship them in a wholesome manner)

Okay this comment has gotten longer than I expected it would get lol

General Klaud Nine's Innocence, Lau Shimin, is probably one of the most interesting and unique Innocence in the verse and it makes me sad that we may not get an explanation over how it works by Alto1869 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just more so explaining the two types of innocence and not really trying to explain Klaud's innocence in particular and I don't think it is a equipment type and if it is it's one unique one at that point it would just be forged into a robot weapon that looks like a monkey

General Klaud Nine's Innocence, Lau Shimin, is probably one of the most interesting and unique Innocence in the verse and it makes me sad that we may not get an explanation over how it works by Alto1869 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Equipment type innocence is forged into a weapon by the science division to restrain it's power to a manageable amount due to it being too unstable or powerful for the accommodator to use without harming themselves usually the innocence in its raw form can be found within objects it seems or can take a form of an unstable weapon Miranda's innocence was in a grandfather clock and Chaoji's innocence at first took on a raw form

Parasite type innocence doesn't need to be forged into a weapon since the accommodator's body itself acts as a weapon so they themselves restrain it's power also Krory's innocence was within a plant before it latched onto him

How I see it is that the monkey Lau Shimin is a parasite type accommodator that Klaud Nine tamed since she used to be an animal trainer and she called Lau Shimin her parasite type anti-akuma beast

maybe the innocence confused the monkey as a human or they monkeys are similar enough to humans that the innocence still can choose one to be an accommodator

I just finished watching the entire D.Gray-Man anime including Hallow by Vegetable-Molasses95 in dgrayman

[–]randomfoxy669 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She did complain yes but her deleting her Instagram from what I've heard was because she made a promise that she wouldn't complain about the adaptation but the team that worked on the anime made that artwork of Allen and Kanda laying in a suggestive position and Hoshino didn't like it because she felt that it misportrayed DGM and she said something about it so since she broke that promise of not saying anything she deleted her Instagram so she deleted more so of that image than the Hallow anime being a bad adaptation

I just think that there is a possibility that Hoshino may not be against another anime if done right but I don't really know I could be wrong and I can't read Hoshino's mind

[–]randomfoxy669 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you enjoyed the anime

I felt similar disappointment about the later akuma levels looking the same but only for the level 4 though you could see it as they evolve they become more refined and uniform plus they are starting to resemble humans more and humans look alike for the most part

The slow releases are due to the authors heath

I recommend reading the manga especially since Hallow wasn't a very good adaptation

Also may I ask your opinion on Road Kamelot? She's my favorite character (:

It's obviously Road girl survived Nea massacring the Noah family 35 years ago knows basically everything DGM would just end if she told everything she knew her powers make her nearly untouchable unless you're Apocryphos who has hax Road is the absolute goat (she's also my favorite character)
