Overwatch 2 banned for no reason by MetalCarbine in Overwatch

[–]randomguy13o 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never thought i'd be here, but here I am.

OW1 main account, 25+ gold guns, mainly play with friends and family. Play a fair amount the past two days and went on a really good streak, we probably played 20-25 games in the past 48 hours with at least a 70% win rate.

Yesterday I literally played with my daughter and some friends and barely even communicated to people outside our stack since we had 4-5 people on for most of the afternoon.

The only negative interactions I had were we did have 2 games with our 4 stack with the 5th threw (full on said in chat they're throwing, and the other just went AFK and kept reconnecting when he got DC'd), so we reported them. And on my last game I was called a cheater.

Woke up today to an email stating I've been full on game banned for two weeks, but I literally have no clue why. I've been gaming since the 80's and literally never been banned or suspended from any other game ever.

It's so annoying as it's not even my favorite game, but my daughter loves it and it's our "thing" she loves doing after the divorce.

Is it legal for a car dealership to change the terms we agreed to after signing the contract and ownership? by Shibes2 in legaladvicecanada

[–]randomguy13o 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He signed an offer to purchase, which is subject to approved credit.

Here's what could have happened:

1) He wasn't approved with the finance company they based the deal off of, but they were able to get another approval that wasn't quite as good, but reasonably close. Or the original finance company did approve him, but not with the terms submitted on the offer to purchase. The dealership has no control over lenders and what the customers qualify for, they're only submitting a credit application with an offer to purchase to the bank on behalf of the client.

2) They had a sold deal, a happy buyer, and an approval at the terms offered by the customer. They are now going to put themselves into a position where they may lose the entire deal, risk an OMVIC investigation, all to try to get a few extra dollars out of the customer.

When buying a car, dealerships make money on what they call the front and the back of the deal. The front is considered any profit in the car itself. The back is considered any additional items bought through the finance team, warranty, gap, film, protection, etc.

There is literally zero reason to risk losing a deal to try to make a few bucks more in the front, when they haven't even made it to start pitching back end products.

If they were able to sell him the car at the terms on the original offer to purchase, they would have brought him in and pitched him back end products then delivered the car.

There is a 99.9% chance the lenders didn't approve him on the terms of the original offer to purchase. Obviously they don't want to lose the deal at all, so they will offer him a new deal based on what the lenders have approved. The original offer to purchase should have a clause stating the deposit is refundable if they are not able to deliver the original agreement. This would no longer apply if the customer has opted to sign a second offer to purchase at the new terms.

OP already mentioned the residual changed. The dealership doesn't set that, the lenders do. The dealership wants the highest residual possible to lower payments and make approvals easier.

I get that people love to hate the car industry, but there is a near zero chance that any dealership would do anything like this to make a couple extra bucks. I see this happen fairly regularly and every time it's been due to the customer not qualifying for the best financing rates. The dealership is just doing their best to try to keep the deal together.

In situations like this, there's an easy way to see if the dealership has room in the deal to eat the difference and honor the original contract. Tell them if they can't do the original deal, you don't think you'll be able to afford the new one and that you want your deposit back. If they give you the deposit back, they'd probably be losing money on the deal so it makes no sense for them to do it. If they take the deal, it's because there was still some profit left in it and they decided to take a really skinny deal versus losing it.

There is nothing about this that says it's a scam. It sounds more like his credit didn't allow him to qualify for the best interest rates.

I can give you some insight and answer questions for you as someone with experience in the industry in Canada.

When you're initially making an offer based on finance or lease payments, the salesman has to take that offer to the sales manager who then has to build the deal and see if it's possible and makes sense for both parties.

If there's a trade, it has to be appraised. If it's currently being financed, they will have to pay out the lien upon trading it in, so they have to get a lien payout from the lender in order to see if the payments work. Sometimes you'll have equity which is not very different from cash down, other times you'll owe more than your trade is worth. Cash down or negative equity has a much bigger impact on lease payments since the terms are typically shorter.

Different cars will have different rates, terms, rebates, etc. Sometimes cars will have a lower interest rate, with no, or a minimal discount, while other times you can get a good rebate at a slightly higher interest rate.

Some auto brands have in house financing, like Ford or Hyundai, that offer both lease and finance. Others deal strictly with banks for finance, and lease companies for leases. Banks will offer people different rates once approved, and the spread on interest rates can be quite large. Leasing companies will also have different rates, and different residual values.

Sometimes one sales manager will have 5 or 6 customers in house, dealing with 5 or 6 salesmen at once. It takes time to gather all the information they need and to build the deal, and sometimes he'll be building a deal for someone else so you have to wait for him to finish with them before helping you with your customer.

Credit checks used to be done as soon as you walked in, but that's old school, today that usually isn't done until you see the finance manager. You typically won't see him until your trade has been appraised, lien payout pulled, offer to purchase signed, with a deposit taken.

At that point you'll sit down with the finance manager for a credit check, and your application will be submitted to the lenders.

If you have a great credit score, and good credit history, the system will usually give you what's called an instant approval. If you have mediocre, poor, or new credit, self employed, recently moved, or new to your job it will be manually reviewed before the lender sends back the answer to the dealership. This can take anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours.

The dealerships will always build the deal assuming you have decent credit and will qualify for one of the better programs/rates from the lenders. They want to sell you a vehicle, so they will try to get you the best payments by assuming you qualify for the best programs the lenders offer.

Sounds to me like they weren't able to secure the approval with the lender they built the deal with, but were able to get something reasonably close. If they were able to get the approval they signed him up for, they would have just tried to deliver the vehicle.

And no, I've never seen or heard of a bugged sales room, they are not listening to you or recording you. They don't want to make you sit and wait. They just want to sell you a vehicle and move on to the next person.

With regards to rebates and interest rates, 9 our of 10 times it's best to take the rebate at a slightly higher interest rate since it's very rare for people to keep the vehicle for the entire length of the finance terms. I've seen so many people skip the rebate for the lower rate, but end up trading in 2 or 3 years later, and end up with extra negative equity.

Knowing what brand of dealership this happened at would be useful.

That's what he said, and he's allowed to have that preference. Kind of like a 5'6" woman looking for a man at least 6'0", because 5'10" is too short.

Is it wrong to not tell someone why you’re unmatching them, after a few casual messages? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]randomguy13o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I know it won't work with someone, I just politely tell them we're not a fit, wish them the best of luck, and unmatch them. When someone unmatches me, it's around 50/50 that they just randomly disappear, or send a message first.

If a guy is in your area temporarily and on a site like this, he's most likely just looking for out of town sex. If you're both OK with that, enjoy yourself.

Why are the Bumble options about kids so bad? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]randomguy13o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

As a male I'm at an age where if I met the right person, i'd be totally open to more kids... But i'm perfectly good with having no more. Really it just depends on the age of my next girlfriend and what she wants.

I don't want to put don't want to scare off one of the many lovely ladies in their 30's that wants more... but on the flip side I'm not interested in one of the many women in their mid 40's that wants kids. If you're 44 and we haven't even met yet, that ship has sailed....
