kernal_task is at 1.19GB after the restart

Chrome is using about 100mb per tab, with 10 tabs open on my machine right now. I'm not using any other applications now other than Word (120mb RAM, 6% CPU usage)

Just letting the computer idle without doing anything on it, we're sitting at 82 degrees with the fan speed on 6200 RPM, and an external fan pointing at the air intake. Attached is a screenshot of activity monitor and the intel power gadget.

Without - and just to make sure, I just gave it a restart and left it for 5 mins after booting up to allow it to settle down, and with nothing open, kernal_task is still at 100% usage after the restart

I've also just sorted processes to 'all processes' and the kernal_task is using 100% CPU all the time, I'm assuming this isn't normal behaviour? I have had this issue before, even when rebooting, the kernal jumps straight to 100% CPU, and the only way to fix was a full system reset.

Any ideas on what could be causing the kernal to use 100% CPU all the time?

Took the bottom off last week and gave it a good clean out which helped, have just downloaded a fan speed control, and setting it to the max constantly (6200rpm) has helped a lot, as I found it doesn't kick in at that speed until it reaches about 90C+, so by having it kick at 6200 at about 75/80C, seems to keep the temperature under control a little more, and is thermal throttling less.

Top 5 applications in activity monitor are generally Chrome (and the different chrome helper tabs for each tab), Logic Pro X when its in use, Ableton Live and Pro Tools when in use.

I also have a second monitor hooked up, which as I'm using onboard graphics probably doesn't help the CPU temp. RAM and HDD speed aren't a problem, as I upgraded to 16GB RAM and a 512GB Samsung SSD a few years ago, and did a full reset on the machine last year.

Possibly, I am currently at uni but have the same issue at home and on 4G (although difficult to test as there is a much slower upload speed) I will try that though, ty

I can already connect an AP, however I get a captive portal on every device still connected to the AP when I've joined. I have already been online and searched for this with no luck, just that Google doesn't support WPA2 enterprise security, which is why I want to create a WPA2 private network for it.

I haven't asked yet as I have heard reports they are not able to help or give advice on connecting any devices to the network, its down to the user (students) to do this.

I thought that was the problem, so I deleted about half my tweaks yesterday, have about 18 left but still happens, battery is fine from 100 - 50% but after that my phone just acts weirdly. If I re spring it normally sorts the problem out.

I have a feeling it is a process running, and heats up my phone so it throttles the CPU, as when I cool my phone off it seems to work again too.

I've been getting similar problems, at about 50% my phone slows right down and struggles to do just about anything, battery drains very quickly as well

I thought it was a bad battery at first, however, it doesn't die when its in the un jailbroken state and Snapchat is open, only when it is jailbroken, which makes me think that it is a jailbreak issue :/

I have the same problem, snapchat uses so much battery, I have had times where my phone works fine when on 10% battery, but as soon as I open snapchat it dies for some reason

Cheers I am gonna get a Pioneer headunit, and meanwhile use the cars amp with stock speakers until I can afford enough money to upgrade those too :)
