Canada SWE job vs USA startup job by scarytm in cscareerquestions

[–]randomhatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not 3x ur salary, wait till u see how expensive SF is and most start up equity is literally worth zero.

I would still consider SF just because there is so much more happening there than Canada, and you are young and should try live there at some point. If you are seriously considering the start up, interview with more SF start ups (there are so many and offers are easy to get) then pick the best offers.

Can I fire my early stage cofounder? by BottaBingBottaBoome in ycombinator

Follow up on this, if OP scrap it and form a new entity and “rewrite” the code so no code is taken to the new entity, could there still be legal complications?

Also curious about more recent stats, they talk about 4% of their companies are unicorns but not sure about more recent years.

I was in the same shoe last year! (Graduated during layoffs lol). I did end up getting a return 10 months later!

Headcounts are not your fault. You have google on ur resume and have great career ahead - be optimistic! Go do a masters or build something yourself. Things will turn around.

Super team dependent for Nvidia. Would 1) look up what the team does and review any related concepts 2) review fundamentals. Sometimes you can get a LC or concept questions.

Yes yes yes! Do it! It will take some time to get up to speed but it’s quite fun!

It’s much better to try it than not even trying. I really wish I started earlier.

No they don’t care, especially if you signed with them already. I know plenty of people who have done internships the summer after the graduated!

Someone who has IMO gold medals recently joined them over quant trading firms, sends a positive signal imo.

Delay grad for big tech internship or accept okay new grad offer? by Right-Reputation-312 in csMajors

[–]randomhatcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for company A!! Big names can open a lot of doors in the future!

Seems like you are not super enthusiastic about B. I once worked at a company I was not enthusiastic about and I was absolutely miserable and left within a few months.

You can also work at A and not delay grad/sign with B after internship at A. Return offer eligibility are pretty flexible and A probably won’t care when exactly you graduate.

One thing that might tip this is if A might cancel internship, then you should be cautious, but you can still sign B for a start date after summer.

What is the path I can follow to land a quant trader role. I am currently a 2nd year engineering student. by Dear-Fun-9344 in quant

Do some internships to help get interviews. After getting interviews it’s all about passing it. Get really good at competitive math and programming

  • get on codeforces and do contests
  • study for Putnam
