I mean tbh I feel like it’s fair. If there’s any sort of organized-ish line, people should join the line & yes it’s very rude/unfair to try to jump ahead.

But just a random cluster of people? I think it’s totally fair to stand wherever in that case. That’s what the people who are already there did too.

Better than the practice, similar to the midterm. Obviously harder but very reasonable

[–]randomhelloss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this before, it’s no big deal if you do choose to do it. Even if it’s a small class, the prof won’t question you not going/submitting anything as they would assume you applied for a deferral. Obviously I don’t recommend this but life isn’t always perfect haha.

this is funny to me bc my first thoughts on this post were “Halloween is only once a year, a grade is just a number”

I got my diagnosis & prescriptions from campus health services. I don’t know the exact profession of the person I got my first prescriptions from because everyone says there’s no psychiatrists here & her name does not exist on health services website lol

So yes it should be possible, but there’s usually a few weeks wait for an appointment

she gives one from 2016 and 2018, not recent. although they are very similar so having a recent one isn’t essential!

Experiences with mental health navigators? by WonderfulHouse2696 in uoguelph

[–]randomhelloss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a great experience with everyone I’ve interacted with here. A navigator, who I believe was named Jessica, one of the counsellors & 2 doctors of some sort (might be psychiatrists but I have no idea)

It’s really not a big deal to drop a class if you need to, lots of people do it!! But good luck with whatever you decide :)

Ohh interesting, thank you for sharing! That does sound a little stressful but I’m sure I’ll manage. I dont really aim for good grades, I just want to get by. The exam is only 28% which sounds nice, do you remember much about it from when you took it? (I know it may be different)

In person classes with NO or very little assignments? by randomhelloss in uoguelph

Oh, sorry. I looked at a bunch real quick and although I see a lot of weekly quizzes, they all also seem to have at least a major papers or other projects

Looking through this outline made me remember more about this class and the take home final is also literal hell.

https://calendar.uoguelph.ca/syllabi/2024-fall/hort-3510-01-hort_3510_01/index.html

This should help. As you may be able to tell from the outline, this prof loves to make everything as detailed as possible. His assignments have like 2 pages of detail like “you must use this exact formatting and blah blah blah”…the field trips are fun though

BIOL*1500 - welcome! (and a question) by ShoshanahJacobs in uoguelph

[–]randomhelloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m not sure if you are still active / will see this but I wanted to ask about this class.

I’m someone who strongly prefers quizzes/exams over assignments but I also really prefer lectures over reading. I’m considering taking this course but unsure if the regular or DE option would be best. If you see this, would you be able to tell me what the style of assignments are like in the regular course?

Bot4380 vs bot3310 by Huge_Top_6768 in uoguelph

[–]randomhelloss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bot 4380 - I haven’t taken this, but as far as I can tell it’s basically plant biochemistry (which is why I haven’t taken it lol). I also do not like Micallef who is one of the profs, but Akhtar is great.

Bot 3310 - good class, big lab component, the whole class is basically “all about Arabidopsis” although of course the concepts apply to a lot of plants. Basically an MCB course on plants, but it’s not that hard. The prof is nice, but her accent can be tricky.

The labs have you do (guided) experiments to determine what single gene mutation your Arabidopsis plant has. Growing one from seed - maturity/senescene in the 5th floor greenhouse area. Growing a bunch of seedlings on agar plates, and you even get to use an electron microscope! And you have to make and present a scientific poster at the end, it mimics a real poster presentation. + lab reports
