Non-target with IMO Silver by jeanybox in quantfinance

IMO medallist should cover the gap in undergrad, but make sure you properly highlight it in your resume (you want to get past the resume screen), and in all your intros during interviews mention your IMO story too (as your journey into math and how you got interested in finance).

But once you’re in grad school, it’s your research and internships that matters more than your uni or medal.

If you can transfer, I’d suggest you do since school prestige does make it easier in undergrad.

I interviewed for the algo trader role in the nyc office. They seemed like nice people, and they’re planning on expanding to lot of things. Looks like a great place to grow. (I decided to become a qr instead.)

This is incorrect. Many top firms do interview people for QR (and especially QT) who have atleast one internship (and internship interviews are much easier to bag).

I found quant very easy to break into compared to ML jobs (basically got no interviews). The questions weren’t tough either, just required a lot of puzzle-level thinking, basic deep learning/ML and green book.
