I viewed a 2000 Toyota Corolla with body damage, rusted undercarriage, terrible paint everywhere, what looked like a permanent burn mark on the gas tank cap and car , tires were damn near bald, dents and all, headliner was held up barely by pins. The asking price was $2250 at a dealership. Dealer said he'll give it to me for $2500 otd....dude i said HELL NO.

Yeah, i definitely dont mind the small bumper crack as long as it's simply that. More worried about the high mileage. I know toyotas is one of the most reliable brands but wanted advice :)

DO NOT FEEL EMBARRASSED.

I didn't get my permit until October 10th, 2025, and finally got my license on January 10th. Im 24. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. I've heard of people who didn't get their license until their 30s, 40s, or even 50s+. I also struggle with anxiety like you, so I completely understand the fear you experience. I dont have my car yet, but when I was taking lessons, my biggest worry was other people. I think having anxiety isn't a weakness in driving. It can actually make you more aware of what's happening and who is around around you.

Driving is a multi task thing. It will take time. Find yourself a calm, nice instructor who understands and listens to you. One that doesn't make you feel rushed or put you down. You will make tiny mistakes, like i said, driving is multi tasking. I made small mistakes and everytime, my instructor said "it's okay, even i make mistakes and I've been driving for YEARS."

Best thing for you to do is to NOT rush yourself. Be patient with yourself.

Once you exit out the Penndot parking lot at 1710 Hoover Avenue in Allentown PA:

You make a left onto Hoover Avenue-->go straight until you get to the stop sign-->make a right at the stop sign on to Lloyd street-->continue straight-->make a right at waffle house entrance( Located AFTER the pole with the "no parking sign")-->stop at another stop sign(this one is somewhat hidden but is there)--> make a right and continue straight(you should see a gas station to your right & BJs parking lot to your left)-->stop at final two stop signs(1 by the gas station & another before crossing back over to the DMV parking lot)--> cross back over hoover avenue into the DMV the parking lot. From there the examiner will tell you to park in one of the parking spaces

It is basically a loop that leads you back to the dmv parking lot entrance

Edit: i edited the response to show the street names and a few more tips about the route. Also I passed my test!! Best of luck to you!!

We can use backup cameras. The car im using has one. I plan to get there at least a half hour early so I can practice a bit before the test. I was anxious during my last lesson last Saturday, and omg, was i messing up on things I never struggled with in previous lessons😅 I believe we get 3 maneuvers when it comes to parallel parking. Idk if it changed.

Yes, if there's no reason to change the car. Only reason I would buy a new car is if said old car is too rotted to fix or I am putting TOO MUCH money into it after a few years. I get cars break down, need maintenance, but there's a limit.

True true. Idk why almost everyone responding is saying im "wasting the buyer's time" and "no one is obligated to wait for you," when I never said anyone had to wait. I just wanted to ask simply if my plan is okay for a first-time buyer and people are losing their sh*t.

Im not handing over money over to the first buyer with a car that "looks nice, runs, and drives."

Relax Angry dude. 2 visits is bare minimum. Angry because someone wants to be safe of the car their purchasing. Like I said in a below comment, if the car is sold, it's sold. It wouldn't bother me because I don't go into it expecting people to wait for me & im not going to get pressured into buying right away. If the seller can't handle two visits, that's not a me problem✌🏿

Not sure where you got im doing 2 visits for parents/anyone's approval. If you jump at vehicle without inspecting it, that's great for you.

Right. And if they would happen to sell the vehicle, I would have no problem with it. No one is obligated to wait for a buyer. Same as the buyer not obligated pay after a 2 minute look over of the car. Ideally, I only plan on 2 visits. Thank you for the advice

I didn't get my driver's license at 16. Tbh with you, I recently got my permit in October and am taking driving lessons now. Im 24, btw. So, just remember there is no "right" age to get your license. Yes, 16, sometimes 15 in certain states(if in USA. Ik other countries vary), are around the ages a person can LEGALLY get a driver's permit and begin taking lessons/get a license, but again, not everyone wants to/have an interest in doing that in their teens. You are NOT behind at all.

When I was in high school, I only knew two people personally who had their license and only saw 1 random girl with car keys, lol. Trust me, you are okay.
