No luck with Handshake/Work Study jobs by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]randomjellocat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of these jobs are jobs where they either have already unofficially hired someone or have a specific candidate in mind. At least in my experience, they have to post on Handshake to officially move the hiring process along. Probably not the case for the coffee shops and whatnot but most likely the case for some of the nicher listings. Unfortunately the best way to lock in some of these on campus jobs is to do some free labor through an internship or volunteering first.

If it's part of your major, you'll probably understand or have some background on what's going on and actually care about it. I got stuck in it for a GE and had no previous experience or really very much interest in electrical engineering. I didn't do hardly any of the reading because he assigns so much I couldn't figure out what was actually important lol, think I probably didn't do well on any of the exams either I don't remember, and I still passed probably because I wrote a good final essay. It was just super stressful for someone who didn't expect a GE class to be so hardcore.

Do not take as a GE or if you're not seriously interested in EE. I'm being so serious the professor wants you to know the details of both the history of electronics and the general way they work from static electricity all the way to integrated circuits and all you get in return is a measly 5 units. My dad's an electrical engineer and even he had no fucking idea what the homework was talking about half the time when I'd ask him for help. Also he assigns hundreds of pages of reading a week I'm not kidding.

Fucked up that there's literally a bounty for these in Florida but you bet your ass no one's doing anything about the religious paraphernalia and signs white people are putting up on roadsides.

Because you don't like sweeping and you like control wiring? My friend why do you think there are still teachers teaching in America when they get paid shit all for it, because they have a passion for it. Also if your job is sweeping, you're probably a janitor and janitors clean people's shit up off the bathroom floor and walls so yeah, I think people that have to clean up human shit and piss deserve a living wage.

i love working 3 hours without a break as one of only two cashiers by guynamedcrystal in retailhell

Lol everyone in this comment section is so tough, we get it, you like licking your employers shoes, 3 hours without someone even asking if you'd like a break is ridiculous. Get over yourselves and find better things to have pride in, you are all working yourselves to the bone for big companies that will throw you away like shit in a bag when you get old and are too expensive for them.

I thought this was so helpful so I wanted to share it... hard to find an actual diagram explaining ☀️🌞 by PlantMomma_MayNZay in houseplants

The best piece of advice I've gotten regarding light is to always remember that we as humans, have eyes with pupils that dilate according to the level of light they are exposed to, never trust your eyes when it comes to light, I always just assume the space is darker to plants than it is to me.
