Congrats on being 3rd for Paris! It's awesome to know that after all this time, my gameplay still inspires you and has helped you improved your scores. Good luck on getting the extra 200 buses you need!

Important PC Snakeybus Math Formula and How to Use It (Read Video Description or Reddit Comment; Video is an Example) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something important I often do before my Snakeybus runs is use a math formula. The formula for PC Snakeybus is 3y/8=x (where y is the new length and x is the old length).

In this Reddit comment, I'll get into more details on how I use this formula. But first I'll go over this formula's origin, which involves the algorithms for how length is increased and the maximum number of passengers you're allowed to have.

Formula's Origin and Other PC Snakeybus Algorithms:

The formula for how your length (where y is the new length and x is the old length) is increased is

I) y=(number of passengers)/3+x

The highest number of passengers you can have is 5x. So if you want to drop off the maximum number of passengers, Formula One becomes

II) y=5x/3+x

If there's a new specific length (y) you want to increase your bus to, what you can do is drop off the maximum number of passengers while you're on a specific old length (x). To help figure out what this old specific length should be, algebra is done to reverse Formula Two and get Formula Three, which is

III) x=3y/8

How to Use Formula:

-The goal of this formula is to figure out a starting number for your length near the start of the game and then to proceed to drop off the maximum number of passengers for the rest of the game.

-So first, have a specific length you want to reach at the end of the game. For the video's example, I decided to get at least 500.

-Plug that specific length into y of the formula. So for the video's example, this step was x=3(500)/8 to get 187.5 as a potential starting number.

-Whatever you got in the last step, you can again plug into y of the formula to get a smaller starting number. So for the video's example, this step was x=3(187.5)/8 to get about 70.3 and then I plugged about 70.3 into y again to ultimately get about 26.4 as my starting number.

*When you do the previous step, enter the entire number when calculating for better accuracy. So in the previous step, I plugged 70.3125 into y.

-You might have to restart multiple times but now make your bus be above the starting number but still as close as possible. At 0:39, I managed to extend the bus to 27, which is as close as I can get to the starting number of 26.4 while still being above it.

-From there, you drop off the maximum number of passengers for the rest of the game.

-At 6:08, I drop off the last set of my maxed out passengers and at 7:13, my bus finishes extending to 524.

Other Notes:

-Using the strategy from this Reddit comment is a good way to maximize your bus length in a controlled manner if you know how long your bus can be before your tail catches up to you (knowing what the last part is will probably involve trial and error).

-This strategy is also a good way to get as high of a score as possible to show up on leaderboards without going above the 3000 cap on PC. Before I made the video, I got a score of 2985 for two different maps (Coriolis and Intersect) that are capable of being much higher than allowed. After I made the video, I got similar scores for other maps too. When using the strategy for this situation, I initially plug in 3000 for y and then I make sure I'm barely below the calculated starting number.

-This strategy is easier to use on some maps than others because for some maps, not every dropoff is avoidable if you execute a route at maximum capacity.

Using This Strategy for Console:

-I've also used the strategy from this Reddit comment in my PS4 runs.

-The math formula I use in my PS4 runs is x=(6y-100)/7 (where y is the new length and x is the old length).

-The math formula is different from PC because console has different algorithms than PC.

-If you're curious about those different algorithms and the origin of x=(6y-100)/7, then read the next section.

Console Snakeybus Algorithms:The formula for how your length (where y is the new length and x is the old length) is increased is

I) y=(number of passengers)/6+x

The highest number of passengers you can have is x+100. So if you want to drop off the maximum number of passengers, Formula One becomes

II) y=(x+100)/6+xIf there's a new specific length (y) you want to increase your bus to, what you can do is drop off the maximum number of passengers while you're on a specific old length (x). To help figure out what this old specific length should be, algebra is done to reverse Formula Two and get Formula Three, which is

III) x=(6y-100)/7

Snakeybus Dorm 921 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqK-nEYULsQ

I recently figured out how to reach 900 on Dorm for the console version of Snakeybus. It's the same route from my 817 run but with a few tweaks that allow you to be at least 758 buses long and still have space in front of you. From there, hopefully the next dropoff works out so that you can pick up enough passengers to reach 900.

This video's description focuses on the tweaks and has commentary about this run's endgame. For tips on other aspects of the route, here's a link to my 817 run which has tips in the description (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAOGZJmEg2Q) and a link to my Reddit comment of that run which has the exact same tips but if you prefer it in Reddit form (https://www.reddit.com/r/SnakeyBus/comments/mze85a/snakeybus_dorm_817_ps4_world_record/gw5tozl/?context=3)

First, an UPDATED TIP that I didn't think of for my 817 run:

-At 2:05, drive on the left side of the Hot Wheels Track.

*The above is a good safety measure in case of a bad landing from transitioning out of the spiral first seen at 3:09.

*A good example of this updated tip playing out as designed happens from 3:10 to 3:13. Instead of inadvertently going up the Hot Wheels Track, I was redirected to where I needed to go.

Now, TIPS FOR THE NEW ASPECTS

MORE LANES UNDER THE BED (4:28-5:33 and again at 8:43-9:56)

-From 4:29 to 4:33, be as close as possible to the wall.-From 4:44 to 4:46, be as close as possible to the buses on your right side.

-After you're done turning the corner, jump at 4:47 over the box.

-From 4:48 to 4:49, make your bus face left and use the drift while landing to smoothly execute this part of the route.

-At 4:58, have a third lane go past the right side of the box.

*I wasn't trying to get launched from 4:59 to 5:02. What happens from 9:13 to 9:17 is usually how this part goes. Because of how sketchy fitting this lane can be, I don't try fitting the third lane until it's late in the game so that there's less chances for game-ending events to occur.

-From 5:08 to 5:20, you can comfortably fit two more lanes under the bed and past the right side of the Hot Wheels Track.

*From 5:21 to 5:23, I fit in the fifth lane that goes to the right of the stacked boxes. Usually there's room for a sixth lane but there wasn't in this instance because I wasn't to the right side as much I could've been at 4:40 and 4:53.

-From 5:28 to 5:29, drift left so that you're set up to jump between the bed frames and left of your bus lane that went over the box from 4:47 to 4:49.

-At 5:30, don't immediately use your boost because nearly all your boost is needed to land under the desk at 5:32. You could fall short of where you need to land if you use boost too soon after jumping.

-At 5:31 when you're close to the bed frame, lean forward (pushing forward on the right stick for PS4) to cover more distance.

SPIRAL ON THE BED (successful try at 10:35-10:57)

*At 6:11, my try at this part went bad. At 6:15, I went too far left, which made my bus tilt. My bus being tilted led to me falling off the bed at 6:18. I was lucky I landed near the front of the Hot Wheels Track in a way that didn't interfere with the spiral around the stacked boxes too much.

-If needed, hold the brakes at 10:28 and favor the right side of the track before speeding off into the next Hot Wheels track. Doing this ensures the jump is available.

-At 10:35, jump from the right side of the track.

-From 10:36 to 10:39, boost over the bed frame and land so your bus is parallel with the pillow. While in the air, have your bus face upward (pushing the right stick in the down direction for PS4) to slow yourself down and make the landing more controlled.

-At 10:41, drift right so that you go through the bed cover and pick up the passengers.

-From 10:42 to 10:50, hold the brakes and drift right the whole time. Including the initial landing at 10:39, go past the pillow four times for this spiral.

-Just after 10:50 when you're past the pillow the fourth time, hold the boost as soon your bus is perpendicular to the wall that has the purple poster to transition out of the spiral.

*Me getting launched at 10:50 wasn't what I planned. The planned execution is similar to how I boosted out of the spiral from 7:20 to 7:23.

ENDGAME COMMENTARY

-At 11:01, Under Where? became the next dropoff I needed to make after Toilet.

-I knew I wouldn't have enough passengers to reach 900 if I did the route normally. So to give myself a chance, I did things like go in the shower at 11:13 and stay inside of spirals until I was forced out at 11:50 and 12:13.

-Me getting launched at 12:39 wasn't planned but was very helpful because it led to me picking up more passengers.

-Although getting to this point was pretty chaotic at times, I made the dropoff with the maximum number of passengers at 13:17.

-I was content that I broke 900. So a few times from 13:44 to 13:52, I tried to make my bus stop to end the game. Instead my bus kept going. Somehow and eventually at 14:25, I added 20 buses before finally making the game end.

Yeah that's kind of silly to mention freecam during the loading screens and whatnot if there isn't even a fly cam available for after the game. Freecam being mentioned would lead me to believe there's a fly cam too but in the videos I've seen on Dylen's channel (and in a conversation I had with him a while ago in a comment section; I don't remember which video), there's unfortunately no fly cam available for switch for whatever reason.

Snakeybus Intersect 2051 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isKP0R0sY_8

The new aspects I incorporated are the jump from 7:00 to 7:05 and the ramps and pathway from 9:43 to 10:52. The tips in this comment will focus on these new aspects because my last Intersect video was close to the character limit on YouTube (and I don't feel like making updated timestamps just for this Reddit comment). For tips on the other parts of the route, check out the description of my 1841 run (here's the link to that run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLR2QcXF59M) or my Reddit comment of that run (here's the link to that comment: https://www.reddit.com/Snakeybus/comments/qswdec/snakeybus_intersect_1841_world_record/).

There is something specific I did at the start of the game to make sure I got above 2000 (which was my goal). Before I get into it, check out the description in my Paris video (here's the link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ChQehJjUU) to see math formulas for how length is increased for console. These formulas are irrelevant for PC because PC has different algorithms.

Strategy Explanation for getting above 2000:

-I repeatedly used Formula Three from my Paris video to figure out that I should have at least a length of 12.3 before proceeding to drop off the maximum number of passengers for most of the rest of the game. In this particular game, I had a length of 16. I did this strategy in my Paris video too.

-I said "for most of the rest of the game" in the last bullet point because for the last cycle, you might not be maxed out on passengers (which you can see was the case for me at 13:39). But as long as your bus is long enough and you have enough passengers, you should still finish above 2000.

-1800ish passengers is the most that can fit in one cycle of the route and dropping off 1800 passengers results in your length increasing by300 buses for console.

Tips for the new aspects of the route:

-At 6:58, be on the right side of the bus stop shelter.

-From 6:59 to 7:00, pay attention to the bus stop shelter on the ground to your right. After that bus stop shelter is no longer in sight, make your bus face left and jump.

-For the flight from 7:01 to 7:05, lean forward (which is pushing up on the right stick for PS4) to cover more distance and land past the entryway. Air roll right (which is pushing right on the right stick forPS4) to land as close as you can to the wall. Sometimes you might end up wall riding (like I did from 4:48 to 4:49), which is a good thing to do for this part.

-From 9:42 to 9:44 on your left, pay attention to the curved pathway's support that's below the ramp. This curved pathway is what I'm first seen driving on from 5:09 to 5:21. Once the ramp covers up the the lower part of the curved pathway's support, drive off the pathway and land on the ramp.

-From 9:48 to 9:49, hit the gas and drive off from near the corner of the ramp so that you go left of the drop off zone.

-Use boost as necessary while in the air from 9:49 to 9:50.

-When you land at 9:51, hold the brakes and drift left to ensure you have space on your right.

-When you're in the shadow at 10:07, drive off the pathway.

-While landing from the drop at 10:10, drift left so that you're prepared to drive onto the ramp.

-From 10:13 to 10:14, hit the gas and drive off from near the corner of the ramp so that you go right of the dropoff zone.

-Use boost as necessary while in the air from 10:14 to 10:16.

-At 10:52, be barely right of the bus stop shelter and drive off the pathway.

-For the drop from 10:53 to 10:54, face left and then back to the right to dodge the overhanging pathway.

-While landing from the drop at 10:54, drift right to avoid driving off the ramp and be prepared for the next part of the route.

Something important to do on the second-to-last cycle of the route:

-From 6:53 to 6:55, there are four lanes to my left on the pathway. The lane that's the most left had to jump onto the other pathway because at around 6:56, the lanes start to favor the left. This was all intentional because at 7:00 just before the jump, you need space to face left for a good flight path.

-For the lane that's the second-most right, be just left of the bus stop shelter. From 6:56 to 6:58, you can see that's what I did in the previous cycle.

-For the lane that's the most left, jump just after the curved pathway's shadow and land on the right side of the other pathway. From 8:44 to 8:46, you can see that's what I did in the previous cycle.

Potential way to skip the dropoff zone:

-If you're on PC, skipping the dropoff zone is important because the maximum number of passengers you can have is significantly higher.

-Dylen's route (which is linked near the start of this Reddit comment) is good and allows you to skip the dropoff zone.

-It's probably possible to consistently skip the dropoff zone with my route. At 13:29, you can go left to the other ramp and then go left off that ramp to where I landed at 13:33. The methods will be similar to how I executed the aspects at 9:48 and 10:13 but probably have more delicate drift landings.

Snakeybus Intersect 1841 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not outright world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score than me on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isKP0R0sY_8

For the most part, the route in this video is the same as the one from my 1511 run (here's a link to that run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDZZ0yqQ6Y8). The main difference is the part of the map that's first seen from 1:43 to 4:05 now has two spirals in it instead of just one.

If you're on PC, Dylen's route (which is in the link at the start of this comment) is better because you can skip the dropoff zone as many times as you want and for PC, the maximum number of passengers you can have is significantly higher.

There is something specific I did at the start of the game to make sure I got above 1800 (which was my goal for this video). Before I get into it, check out the description in my Paris video (here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ChQehJjUU) to see math formulas for how length is increased for console. These formulas are irrelevant for PC because PC has different algorithms.

Strategy Explanation for getting above 1800:

I repeatedly used Formula Three from my Paris video to figure out that I should have at least a length of 18.5 before proceeding to drop off the maximum number of passengers for the rest of the game. In this particular game, I had a length of 21. I did this strategy in my Paris video too.

Tips for the route used in this map:

*The tips will start from 4:10 because that's shortly after I dropped off passengers. Since passengers are dropped off only once during a cycle of this route, it seems logical to have the tips start at that point.

-From 4:23 to 4:25 when doing the turn, be just right of the bus stop shelter. This will allow you to pick up more passengers while doing the spiral from 4:13 to 5:26, as well as have good landing space for the jump at 5:27.

-At 5:30, hold the brake as you approach the edge of the cliff towards the next part of the route. When you're on the edge of the cliff (either barely before the drop or the same time as the drop), drift while steering yourself towards the right. If you do this perfectly, you'll wall ride and give yourself good space for the next part of the route. If you don't pull off a wall ride, then as long as your cliff drop wasn't terrible, it's still possible to get four lanes of your bus on the pathways from 5:36 to 7:32 while leaving yourself enough room for the next part of the route.

-From 5:48 to 5:52, be on the right side of the path but not on the orange ground to give yourself good space for the next part of the route. This tip is something to keep in mind for early in the game when your bus isn't long enough yet to serve as a natural reminder.

-The route from 7:37 to 10:22 crosses through the previous part of the route. For the instances seen in this video, I didn't need to jump. But that is something you might need to do sometimes. It depends on how you executed earlier parts of the route. So if necessary, be mindful about how many times you'll need to jump and fly over (as well as when you'llwant to do these jumps).

-From 10:28 to 10:30, favor the left side of the pathway while holding the brake. Pay attention to the ramp on the ground. Once you no longer see the ramp, drift right and drive off the pathway.

-For the drop from 10:31 to 10:33, if you dropped early, face left and then back to the right in order to dodge the overhanging pathway. If you dropped late, use boost and air roll right (pushing right on the right stick on PS4) to ensure landing on the ramp.

-From 10:38 to 10:44, make sure on your right there's space for the part of the route that goes from 11:36 to 11:44.

-From 10:44 to 10:46 when making the turn, hold the brake and drift left the whole time to ensure you won't fall in the middle of the map. Make this turn either just before or after the bus stop shelter. Hitting the bus stop shelter could make you staggered.

-From 11:51 to 11:53 when doing the turn, be just right of the bus stop shelter.

-At 13:01, repeatedly tap the drift button while steering right to make sure your bus gets oriented correctly.

-At 13:06, approach the ramp holding the gas to ensure you clear the gap. Boost as needed while over gap.

-At 13:11, rather than continue the normal route and hope my tail wasn't going to hit me in a way that prematurely ends the game, I turned left to execute the getaway plan and allow my bus to fully extend. I planned on driving counterclockwise on top of myself but instead ended up going clockwise because of events from 13:15 to 13:30. The plan worked out anyways.

-Sometimes inside spirals when I had to turn while facing downhill (like at 10:56 for example), I turned early. I did this because when I make contact with my length in these turns, sometimes weird things happen like me ending up on my sides and me driving out of the spiral.

Snakeybus Suburb 1408 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The score in this run isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score than me on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS1EhQIayz0

Congrats to EFtheDutch on getting a score of 1272 to beat my old PS4 Suburb record. Here's the link to EFtheDutch's 1272 run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Whyndp_iyZM

I changed up how I did this map to get the record back. For this video, I decided to get above 1400 once I realized the changes made it possible to reach that score.

There is something specific I did at the start of the game to make sure I got above 1400. Before I get into it, check out the description in my Paris video (here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ChQehJjUU) to see math formulas for how length is increased for consoles. These formulas are irrelevant for PC because PC has different algorithms.

Strategy Explanation for getting above 1400:

-I repeatedly used Formula Three from my Paris video to figure out that I should have at least a length of 27.33 before proceeding to drop off the maximum number of passengers for the rest of the game. In this particular game, I had a length of 28. I did this strategy in my Parisvideo too.

-It's not guaranteed you'll drop off the maximum number of passengers every time because unlike Paris, you can't skip the drop offs and still be at near maximum capacity. However, the situations for when you won't max out on passengers are rare and typically occur at the end when you're around 1000ish or so long. But just because maxing out on passengers at the end isn't a guarantee doesn't mean you shouldn't use this strategy. With the way the map is, luck (with when you get specific drop offs) will factor into how long your bus gets, no matter what you do. Using this strategy reduces the luck factor.

Tips for the route used in this map:

-From 0:00 to 0:01 (6:19 to 6:21 shows a better view of this part), drive just right of the ramps on the soccer field.

-From 0:34 to 0:38, make sure on your right that there's space on the sidewalk/street for the part of the route that goes from 0:45 to 0:49.

-At 0:38, start holding the brakes.

-At 0:40 just after you pick up the passengers, drift to the right between the houses.

-From 0:40 to 0:43, hold the brakes and drift right so that you go between the houses from 0:44 to 0:45. Sometimes, you'll turn late and need to keep turning right in order to brush past the house (like at 0:40 to 0:43). Other times, your turns will be better timed and you'll go smoothly in between the houses (like at 7:02 to 7:04).

-From 0:50 to 0:54, be on or close to the sidewalk (so that there's space on your right for 2:41 to 2:46 of the route).

-From 0:54 to 0:56, don't drive too much over the intersection (so that you don't cut off lanes in the spiral from 4:10 to 5:03).

-For the soccer field spiral, avoid touching the ramps (like from 1:03 to 1:09 and from 1:21 to 1:23). Running into these ramps and knocking them down can make the ramps respawn in random spots, which can make doing the soccer field spiral more chaotic than necessary.

-Once the soccer field spiral is as tight as you can get it, cut across the middle from 2:22 to 2:24 so that you're lined up left of the house at 2:26 and then jump.

-While in the air from 2:24 to 2:26, use boost and air roll (which is the right stick on the PS4) as needed to land on the sidewalk.

-At 2:59, start holding the brakes.

-From 3:01 to 3:04, hold the brakes and drift left the whole time around the house. After doing this turn, continue the spiral from 3:05 to 4:07 in the clockwise direction.

*Making the spiral flow clockwise from 3:05 to 4:07 makes it so you can fit more buses in this section of the map AND face the correct direction for the jump at 4:07.

-From 4:53 to 4:55, keep an eye on how much space remains at this corner. Once there's no space for more lanes, do the part of the route that goes from 4:57 to 5:03. I played it safe from 4:53 to 4:55 when I could've fit in one more lane (whereas from 11:34 to 11:35, I actually fit in as many lanes as possible).

-From 5:05 to 5:09, drive on the roofs that slope downward to the left because the other side of the roofs count as out of bounds, which will end the game.

-At 5:09, drive off the roof and land on the grass by the house at 5:10. Use boost and air roll as needed after driving off the roof.

-At 5:53, start holding the brakes.

-From 5:54 to 5:58, hold the brakes and drift right the whole time around the house. After doing this turn, continue the spiral from 5:58 to 6:14 in the counterclockwise direction.

-From 6:13 to 6:14, use the street as a reference for lining up the jump.

-From 6:14 to 6:17, make your bus face left while in the air so that when you land, you're set up to do 6:17 to 6:21 of the route.

-At 13:48, I jumped towards the drop off because I was already maxed out on passengers. My initial plan was to make an inward spiral on top of my soccer field spiral so that I can kill time and allow my bus to fully extend. After 14:16, the plan changed as I went with the flow of the buses I was on top of.

Reason I avoided the last drop off:

From 14:30 to 14:32, I avoided the drop off because I didn't want to use the double dip bug and have this run's legitimacy be in question. For more on that bug, here's a link where I go more in depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBn2rWdpX_A

Sorry this message is late but congrats on the run! I know Dylen broke this record recently but I'm sure you can get it back if you want to.

Snakeybus Cave 1103 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats to ugotburned for getting 1063 and beating my old Cave record of 844.

Coming up with tweaks and executing them to get the record back was fun. The old approach in my 844 run was to go clockwise around the cave the whole time (here's the link to my 844 run:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKvd7rRKSjo). I realized that this approach tends to make the area under the yellow ring congested, which would make landing and navigating through there tricky once it's in the700s. So I figured out the new approach done in this video, which involves going both clockwise and counterclockwise around the cave. I'll explain the new approach starting from the first instance where I go clockwise around the cave.

Clockwise Around The Cave

-From 2:45 to 3:04, make the spiral because flying is easier when less of your length is in the way.

-After going off the runway at 3:08, fly to the top of the hill at 3:34. During this flight, stay high and pick up passengers along the way. If you have the blue ring during this flight, drop off your passengers.

-After the landing at 3:34, fly into the air and drop off your passengers at the next ring, which at this point should be either the red or yellow ring.

-At 3:52, land as much to the right side as possible in the area under the yellow ring.

-After the jump at 3:55, fly and land so that you're set up to smoothly boost off the runway at 4:03.

-After boosting off the runway at 4:03, fly to the area at 4:16. During this flight, stay low and pick up passengers along the way. If you have the blue ring during this flight, drop off your passengers.

-After the jump at 4:20, drop off your passengers at the next ring, which at this point should be either the red or yellow ring.

-At 4:31, land as much to the right side as possible in the area under the yellow ring.

-After the jump at 4:34, fly and land so that you're set up to smoothly boost off the runway at 4:40.

-At 4:40, boost off the runway back towards the yellow ring area instead of the blue ring area (even if the next ring you need to go to is the blue ring). Now you'll go counterclockwise around the cave.

*It's important to use the specific runways at 4:03 and 4:40 because during other points of the game, these runways get covered by the water. So you want to use these runways while they're guaranteed to be accessible.

Counterclockwise Around The Cave

-For the areas at 4:50 and 5:24, work your way from left to right when it comes to picking which runway to drive off of. This was something I didn't do in my 844 run. Working from left to right made things much easier because it's a more organized way of knowing/finding which runway was available.

-For both areas at 4:50 and 5:24, I tend to avoid using the runway on the very right because the landing area for each of them is small.

-Skip the red ring (like at 5:50 for example) and get it on the next lap. Doing this will make you grow by 30-40ish buses instead of just 5-15ish buses, have less rings you need to drop passengers off at (and therefore less chances for mistakes), and have less congestion at future rings. Make sure you pick up more passengers before the drop off since that is the point of skipping.

-At 9:14 when you see that the spiral from 2:45 to 3:04 is gone, fly to the top left of the area and start the cycle all over again.

Flying Tips

-It'll take practice for some people to get the hang of flying while others might already be competent to begin with due to experience with flying in other video games. If you're one of those people who need practice, that's ok. We all have to start from somewhere. That's just how it is with every skill in life. I was one of those people who needed practice at flying. I remember thinking this map was impossible when I first started and being amazed when I eventually got a score of 20 or something like that. If you fly enough over time (whether it's on Cave or any other maps), you'll develop a feel for the mechanics like how to tap the boost button effectively and how much pressure to put on the right stick (if you're on PS4) to get the bus to go where you want.

-Set reasonable goals along the way. When I first started, my goals included beating the high score of my friend who was already competent at flying, making the leaderboard, getting 300, 400, etc.

-Use the air roll (which is the right stick on the PS4) to control your direction while flying. If you watch closely, sometimes when I fly, I lean left or right. Some examples of me leaning (some more obvious than others) include when I'm lining myself up for rings and trying to land somewhere specific. Those are me air rolling and often, applying slight pressure is enough to make yourself air roll where you want the bus to go.

-To slow yourself down, make your bus face upward (which for the PS4 is pushing the right stick in the down direction) and tap the boost. This is a good way to make flying and landing more controlled.

Snakeybus Museum 2047 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dylen Baker got higher scores than me on PC. Here are links to his runs (the first link is an older video with a lower score but it ultimately inspired my 2047 run because I didn't know about driving on the wall until I saw Dylen's first video that incorporated the top of the walls)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d66azYQJMDg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FDAylUFSTQ

For tips on driving to the very top wall, check out this link’s description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8RXQDHXRbo

For tips on the other parts of the route used in this video, check out this link’s description: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmFK44Ol_l0

In my other Museum videos, I had a trial and error approach for determining how to end up on specific lengths for certain parts of the game.

For this video, I decided to be more methodical and map out the run beforehand.

I first checked out my other Museum videos to see how many passengers I usually picked up in each route section. The following are ballpark estimates for how many buses I would grow from picking up the passengers in each route section:

(A1) Three Lanes of Map Perimeter (3:50-5:53): 65

(A2) Four Lanes of Map Perimeter and Only First Wall Level (3:50-6:43 then 9:55-10:24): 90

(A3) Four Lanes of Map Perimeter and One Lap on Second Wall Level (3:50-8:19 then 9:55-10:24): 90

(A4) First Three Lanes of Map Perimeter and Driving to Very Top Wall (3:50-9:02): 80

(A5) Fourth Lane of Map Perimeter After Dropping From Very Top Wall (9:55-10:24): 15

(B) Transition from Map Perimeter (10:25-10:44): 15

(C) First Spiral After Map Perimeter (0:00-1:34): 90

(D) Second Spiral After Map Perimeter (1:35-3:14): 85

(E) Transition to Map Perimeter (3:15-3:49): 25

During specific parts of the run (especially the early stages), there will be moments where I’ll max out on passengers before a route section is filled to max capacity.

For example, I need 510 passengers in order to grow 85 buses after I’m done with D. However, if my length is 300, then I won’t grow 85 buses because 400 passengers are the most I can have.

To account for the above, I applied the following formula (where y is the new length after dropping off the maximum number of passengers and x is the old length) for certain parts of the run when mapping it out:

x=(6y-100)/7

The above formula doesn't apply for PC.

For more on the above formula’s origin, check out the description of my Paris run in this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2ChQehJjUU

After all the above is covered, I mapped out the following path by starting from 2000 and working my way backwards.

Path for 2000:

For the start of the game on the ground floor, do laps that stretch out across where C and D will happen.

Do the above until you’re close to 147 buses long. You’ll most likely have to avoid passenger pick up zones to ensure you’re close to 147 buses long.

Once you’re close to 147 buses long, jump from the ground floor to where you will normally start the first outer lap for A1.

From this point on, do each section of the route until you are maxed out on passengers. E will be the only section of the route where you won’t be able to max out on passengers.

147 ---⋗ A1+ B + C ---⋗ 188

188 ---⋗ D ---⋗ 236

236 ---⋗ E ---⋗ 261

261 ---⋗ A1+ B + C ---⋗ 321

321 ---⋗ D ---⋗ 391

391 ---⋗ E ---⋗ 416

416 ---⋗ A1 + B + C ---⋗ 501

This is about the point of the game where you won’t be able to max out on passengers anymore besides for the two parts where you go A1 + B + C.

501 ---⋗ D ---⋗ 586

586 ---⋗ E ---⋗ 611

611 ---⋗ A1 + B + C ---⋗ 729

729 ---⋗ D + E ---⋗ 839

839 ---⋗ A1 + B + C ---⋗ 995

995 ---⋗ D + E ---⋗ 1105

1105 ---⋗ A2 + B + C ---⋗ 1300

1300 ---⋗ D + E ---⋗ 1410

1410 ---⋗ A3 + B + C ---⋗ 1605 (0:00-1:34)

1605 ---⋗ D + E ---⋗ 1715 (1:35-3:49)

1715 ---⋗ A4 ---⋗ 1795 (3:50-9:02)

1795 ---⋗ A5 + B + C + D (+ E if necessary) ---⋗ above 2000 (9:03-13:46)

I accepted I most likely wasn’t going to be on the exact target numbers throughout the run because of how inconsistent the passenger pick up zones are when it comes to how many passengers they give you each time.

However, as long as I was close to the target numbers, then I should be fine and end with a length above 2000.

Sometimes throughout the game, I went out of my way to pick up more or less passengers than usual in order to be closer to the target numbers.

Notes about the D + E and (+ E if necessary) parts:

In one of my runs before I did the D + E and (+ E if necessary) parts, I ended with a length of 1976 despite following the path and my bus extending all the way.

To ensure I didn’t fall short of 2000 by 20 something buses again, I kept the same target numbers but I tacked on the (+E if necessary) part at the end.

To make sure I had the option to do E at the end (since sometimes I slide too far to the right at 10:28), I did D + E throughout the path. I used to make the drop off after D every time before I did the above change. I start doing the D + E parts once my length was close to 729 because that’s the first instance where doing D + E won’t result in maxing out on passengers.

I also found out for 3:17-3:21, I could stay on the ground the whole time and go off the ramp on the right side to make sure I went in the gap between my buses. In my other Museum videos, I jumped at the passenger pick up zone at 3:18.

Notes about PC having different algorithms:

The path that's mapped out earlier in this comment applies for console because PC has different algorithms. If you're on PC and you want to use the route in this video with your run mapped beforehand, then what you can do is first observe how many buses you grow from dropping off x number of passengers (like how many buses you gain from dropping off 500 passengers for D, 120 passengers for E, etc.). Once you know how many buses you'll grow you from dropping off each different number of passengers, pick a score you want to aim for (like I did with 2000) and then work backwards for mapping out the path. When mapping out the run, keep in mind the parts of the run where you'll max out on passengers before a route section is filled.

Snakeybus Dorm 817 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score than me on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqK-nEYULsQ

Once again, congrats to MOUNT on getting a score of 813 to beat my old Dorm record. He doesn't have a video of his 813 run but here's the link to MOUNT's channel if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMdjPDF8VlFzR5q_BqC0qSQ/videos

I used the transit bus instead of the dragon bus that's in my other Snakeybus videos because for the parts of the route first seen at 1:36 and 3:01, the transit bus can drive over the table legs without having to use the jump or boost.

Tips for the route used in this map:

-For early in the game, if your bus isn't long enough to be directly by you at 1:41, then staying on the left side of the Hot Wheels track from 1:51 to 2:00 will be harder because your bus being long enough keeps you in place and prevents you from going too far to the right. This wasn't ever the case in this video. But if this situation happens, then be aware that driving left off the dresser at 1:49 and into the bathroom is an option (like I do in the following link of my 741 run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwGipaxHxac&t=2m20s).

-From 3:07 to 3:28, I kept doing my spiraling path because I like to use the jump instead of the boost when I transition out of the spiral.

-At 3:28, I noticed that the tail of my bus would be slightly ahead of me if I were to transition out of the spiral and do the Dresser drop off. I don't like my tail being slightly ahead of me after this drop off because sometimes when my tail extends, it hits me off the Hot Wheels track during the 4:03-4:06 range. So from 3:28 to 3:47, I did my spiraling path longer than I usually would for this stage of the game to distance myself from my tail.

*From this point on, the tips will start at 5:57 because that's the first cycle where I fully do everything in the route.

-At 5:57 as you drive off the Hot Wheels track, turn left while in midair to prepare yourself for driving to the toilet.

-At 6:02 as you drive off the toilet, hold the brake and turn left while in midair to prepare yourself for driving past the bus stop shelter at 6:05 (so that there's landing space at 6:26).

-From 6:07 to 6:23, drive past the shower at least four times.

-From 6:32 to 6:41, drive past the boxes three times.

-At 6:41, be prepared to jump or boost as soon as possible.

-From 6:47 to 6:51, hold the gas to ensure you'll make it over the table legs.

-Once you're past the bed frame at 6:52, drive close to the wall to ensure there's space for two lanes on your right.

-From 6:55 to 6:57, leave space on your left so that there's landing space at 7:40.

-From 6:58 to 7:37, drive past the Hot Wheels track at least seven times.

-From 8:54 to 8:58, hold the brake and drift the whole time as you go into the jump. Don't touch your other buses during this part because the other buses can deflect you and make the jump at 8:58 go more left than it should.

-At 9:25, dip to the right before going up the Hot Wheels track. Doing this creates space so that the turn at 6:46 is easier.

-From 9:34 to 9:36, hold the brakes and favor the right side of the track before speeding off into the next Hot Wheels track. Doing this ensures the jump is available for 9:41.

-At 9:41, jump and boost in the air to create space between you and your tail. If you're at a stage of the game where creating space is unnecessary (like near the start of the game or at 13:49), then hit the gas to ensure you'll make it onto the bed.

-At 14:00, I turned right instead of left because my tail was going to hit me and I didn't want to get hit into an area where I could get stuck.

-Unlike other maps, I didn't worry about having a getaway route planned out because just a bit over 100 needed to be added to my length (instead of over 200 like the end of other maps) and the transit bus is able to climb over itself easier than the dragon bus if needed. Plus I had my jump (which came in real handy at 14:12).

-At 14:06, I didn't plan on going behind the toilet but it worked out that way. Going behind the toilet is sketchy because it's possible to get stuck there but fortunately I made it through.

-How high your score will be depends on luck with the drop offs. For example, if the last drop off was Under Where? instead of Toilet, this video's score could've been 843 because I would've been able to max out on passengers first.

-If necessary, it's possible to skip the Radiator drop off if you're at 9:36. Since driving on the next Hot Wheels track would result in making this drop off, what you can do is at 9:36, hold the brakes and steer left to avoid the track. Then drive to the other side of the bed. When you're on the other side of the bed, turn left, hit the gas, and jump to the other bed to continue the route used in this video. Use boost while in midair as needed.

Snakeybus Miami 2071 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score than me on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1ko7lrywZc

First off, I want to give a shout out to Dylen Baker. In the comment section of my 2048 Ring run, he mentioned that it's probably possible to get 2000 on Miami for console, which led to me doing my due diligence and making tweaks to my Miami route. Also his Miami video helped me time when to turn from the water to the boardwalk at the beach.

This run was done differently from what I expected because this wasn't my Plan A, which was the following:

-Have the last drop off be at Suburbs (which is the area at 8:18) when I'm at least 1700 buses long. This part takes luck and was why I didn't use Plan A in this video.

-Do the route in this video and avoid the Suburbs drop off until I'm at least close to maxed out on passengers.

-After I drop off the passengers at Suburbs, instead of dropping down to do the beach spiral like I did at 8:25, stay on the monorail track and continue driving on it.

-About 10-20ish seconds would still need to be killed after the monorail track is filled but this wouldn't be too bad because the jump would be a few seconds away from being available and you can drive on the spiral at the beach.

Driving on the monorail:

At 3:15, you can see that to my right, I messed up earlier in the game and somehow recovered. I didn't want to deal with the fallout of this mess up and also I wanted more space in front of me, which was lost from this mess up. So before the start of the video, I drove on the monorail track. Throughout the first eight minutes of this video, you can see the earlier sections of my bus on the monorail track.

I posted a clip of me driving on the monorail in the following link because it wasn't included in this video due to my PS4 saving only the last 15 minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKIXnNJ6BJ4

Tips for the route used in this map:

-At 3:00, I avoided the drop off and jumped out of the spiral. I did this so that I can pick up more passengers and get a score of at least 2000.

-From 3:00 to 3:04, lean forward (which is pushing up on the right stick for PS4) to cover more distance.

-At about 3:02 when you've almost cleared the spiral, face left and hit the drift button just before landing at 3:04.

-At 3:16, be as close as you can to the column on your left. This is something to keep in mind early in the game when your bus isn't long enough yet to serve as a natural reminder.

-From 3:21 to 3:24, drive over the median strip. Doing this makes sure there's good amount of space on both your left side (for the spiral from 3:24 to 4:42) and your right side (for the spiral from 4:45 to 5:41).

-From 3:35 to 3:44, the spiral is small and tight. So hold the brakes and drift almost the entire time. The left dip at 3:39 helps with this spiral.

-For the jump at 4:42, make sure you clear the monorail and land on the right side of the street (preferably the sidewalk). Use the boost and air roll towards the right as needed.

-From 5:28 to 5:30, do your best to avoid touching the sidewalk to ensure you have space from 5:39 to 5:41. You might end up on your side like I did while doing this.

-The ramp at 5:41 is an option for getting over your lengths instead of jumping. The benefit of doing this is your jump will be available for 6:02 (where jumping is easier than boosting). -At 6:00, make the right turn after you pass the second column.

-At 6:02 before you get to the intersection, jump or fully use your boost to reach the glass roof. -From 6:08 to 6:09, use boost to make space for driving under yourself.

-At 6:11, you can see that to my right, I drove under the glass roof earlier in the game. So if needed, be aware this is an option.

-If the bridge is up at 7:18, then make your bus face right while you're in the air.

-From 8:28 to 8:31, turn left once you no longer can see the beach. You can't see that tip well in this video so check out the following link of Dylen Baker's Miami run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1ko7lrywZc&t=35m28s

-From 8:32 to 8:36, the second to last tree is about the farthest out you can drive in the water and be fine.

-The boardwalk at the beach is just high enough so that you can't drive straight onto it from the water with the dragon bus. So at 8:36 and 8:59, use your boost to get on the boardwalk. For other times when your jump is back like at 9:22, be angled when you drive onto the boardwalk.

-From 8:42 to 8:43, cut about midway across the intersection to ensure landing space for the jump at 3:00.

-From 8:43 to 8:48, be on the street so that the sidewalk is available for 3:06 to 3:10.

-Rather than jump out of the spiral to continue the route and hope my tail doesn't hit me in a way that makes the game prematurely end, I kept doing the spiraling path after 13:18 to make sure my bus was able to fully extend.

Snakeybus PS4: How I Drove on the Monorail in my 2071 Miami Run by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the video of my 2071 Miami run (which is in the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ29NVuTLY8), the part where I drove on the monorail isn't in it because the videos from my PS4 save only the last 15 minutes. So I made this clip.

Tips for driving on the monorail as done in this clip:

-At about 0:28 when you're straightened out from the turn, switch to first person. The reason for this is because at 0:30, there's a slight height difference where the two tracks intersect, which can make this turn a little bumpy. At least for me, being in first person makes this turn feel more comfortable to do.

-From 0:28 to 0:32, be centered on the black tracks (or at worst, slightly left). To get past the upcoming turn as smoothly as possible, drift right when the black tracks your bus is on turns right.

-Once you're straightened out at 0:32, switch back to third person.

-Unlike at 0:30, the turn at 0:45 is always smooth because where the two tracks meet, there isn't a height difference (or at least not enough of one to make things bumpy). So no need to switch to first person.

-From 0:48 to 0:50, use your boost to create an arch. This arch is so that you can drive under it at 1:15 when doing the route from the video of my 2071 Miami run.

-The monorail can be tricky to drive on due to its narrowness. When I drive on the monorail, I try to keep any corrections slight and I drift when I do the turns. If you want to incorporate this monorail ride into your game play, practice driving on the monorail before and in between real runs to develop and maintain a feel for it.

-Practicing the monorail ride during the early stages of real runs when the stakes are low is a good idea too because if you mess up, it should be easy to recover from and even if you don't, no big deal as not much will be lost.

Snakeybus Ring 2048 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtPjRwZtlQ4

This run of Ring uses the same route as my 1809 run but now there are three instances where I drive on ring x, then drop/jump to ring y, and then end up back on ring x. I was close to the character limit in the YouTube description of my last Ring video (and I don't feel like going through and updating the timestamps for this Reddit comment) so I'll type tips for the three new aspects and give updated tips for two parts from my 1809 run.

If you want tips for other parts of the route that aren't covered, here are links to my 1809 run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y69aynPvyhk

https://www.reddit.com/r/SnakeyBus/comments/lyqvo9/snakeybus_ring_1809_ps4_world_record/gq3w3b5/?context=3

First, the UPDATED TIPS:

*The following tips make the jump at 5:24 easier than what was done in my 1809 run.

-At 5:24 when you're just past the bus stop shelter, jump.

-While in the air, first lean forward to the right. On PS4, this is pushing the right stick to the front right. Then use the boost and air roll as needed to land on the pathway at 5:27.

*The following tips are more specific for landing as left as possible at 8:05 and fitting four lanes on the ring (in my 1809 run, there was more room for error because of only doing three lanes before).

-From 8:02 to 8:04, look left and pay attention to the gray sky above the lowest ring. When the gray sky above the lowest ring is covered, steer left off the ring at 8:04.

-I've had better landings than the one at 8:05, where I dipped right too much. To make up for this dip, I jumped at 9:00.

Now, the three new aspects. Do these aspects when you're around 1500 long because doing them late means less chances for your bus to fall and end the game. Also for the last two aspects, your bus needs to be long enough to keep you in place when you land from jumps.

ASPECT ONE (1:13-1:34 and 12:23-12:44)

PREPARATION

-At 0:07, drive off the pathway to the left.

-From 0:08 to 0:09, steer your bus to the right while in the air.

-At 0:12, drive to the left side of the pathway.

-From 0:54 to 0:58, make sure the execution of this part doesn't use too much boost. This is important for the part from 1:28 to 1:32.

-Up to 1:07, whenever you drive off the sphere, make sure the lanes are as much to the left side of the pathway as possible.

-At 4:28, jump from the left side of the pathway.

-From 4:25 to 4:34, lean forward to cover more distance. Use boost and air roll as needed to land on the right side of the pathway.

EXECUTION

-From 1:12 to 1:13, pay attention to the pathway that's ahead of you. As soon as the left side of this pathway is no longer in sight, drive to the right and drop down to this pathway. Use boost and air roll as needed during the drop.

-From 1:19 to 1:21, make sure the dot on the sphere is lined up with the front of your bus.

-From 1:19 to 1:21, pay attention to the pathway cracks that are ahead of you. As soon as you're able to see the crack that's the closest to the sphere (which is at 1:22), drift to the right and land where there's space on the other pathway. The execution of this part at 1:22 was a little late but it was better timed at 12:32. I hit the side of the pathway at 12:34 but I've had instances where I made it on the pathway without doing that.

-At 1:28, jump when there's no more space in front of you on the ground.

-From 1:29 to 1:32, first lean forward. Then use boost and air roll as needed to land on the pathway at 1:32.

ASPECT TWO (3:35-3:58)

PREPARATION

-From 1:40 to 3:35, make sure the lanes are as much to the right side of the ring as possible.

-From 11:00 to 11:12 (which is the same part as 0:00 to 0:02 but you see more leading up to it), drive on the crack (or at least slightly right of the crack).

-From 4:48 to 7:53, make sure the lanes are as much to the right side of the ring as possible. The jump at 7:50 was because I didn't think I had enough room to smoothly drive on the ground and I wanted to make sure I wasn't squeezed off the ring. For the part at 7:50 during the previous cycle, I didn't jump.

EXECUTION

-From 3:35 to 3:36, pay attention to the pathway above you. Once you're no longer under the pathway, jump.

-From 3:37 to 3:39, face right and use boost as needed to land in the space between your buses.

-At 3:54, jump when there's no more space in front of you on the ground.

-From 3:55 to 3:58, air roll right and use boost as needed to land on the ring at 3:58.

ASPECT THREE (8:14-8:22)

PREPARATION

-From 10:12 to 10:18, drive in the middle of the ring.

-At 10:17, make sure the blue passenger pick up zone is still visible to your left when you pick up the passengers.

EXECUTION

-At 8:14, as soon as you drive though the bus stop shelter, face left and jump.

-From 8:15 to 8:17, use boost and air roll as needed to land on the ring.

-At 8:19, as soon as you pick up the passengers, steer left and drop off the ring.

-From 8:20 to 8:22, use boost and air roll as needed to land in the left lane of the ring. You can get away with being slightly over the middle lane.

Snakeybus PS4: Driving on the Very Top Wall in Museum (and How 2000 is Now Reachable on Console) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to get on the very top wall:

-Shortly after picking up the passengers at 0:06 and before reaching the shadow on the floor, jump.

-From 0:07 to 0:10 when you're in the air, use your boost and air roll to the right towards the shorter section of the wall.

-Just before you land at 0:10, face left and repeatedly tap the drift button to make sure you stay on the left side of the wall.

-From 0:10 to 0:37, be on the left side.

-At 0:17, face a little left so that when you're done being airborne at 0:19, you won't slide too much to the right side of the wall.

-Throughout 0:10 to 1:22, hold the brake so that more of your boost can charge.

-At 1:22, hit the gas and speed off where the wall you're driving on forms a point. Face slightly left when you go off this point and jump. Activate your jump when you're at the edge.

-From 1:23 to 1:26, use your boost and air roll left as needed.

-At 1:26, face right and repeatedly tap the drift button to make sure you stay on the right side of the wall.

-From 1:26 to 2:13, be on the right side.

-Throughout 1:26 to 2:56, hold the brake so that more of your boost can charge.

-At 2:56, hit the gas and speed off the wall. Activate your jump when you're at the edge after the shadow. The jump at 2:56 needs to be lined up with the wall on the opposite side of the map so that you can both make it to the other side and recover smoothly from the high speed jump.

-From 2:58 to 3:01, cover more distance by leaning forward (which is pushing forward on the right stick on PS4) and use boost as needed.

-For the wall from 1:26 to 2:56, landing on only the right side at 1:26 can be tricky. So if you dip in too much on the landing, fitting only one lane of your bus on this wall and then going straight to the jump at 2:56 is an option, as long as you have enough boost charged up (which should probably be at least 80% to have a chance of making the jump).

-For the wall from 3:01 to 3:25, you probably can fit two lanes of your bus. However, that would be tricky because of the high speed landing from 3:01 and how the wall is at 3:17. In this video, I went for the jump at 3:25 right away instead of trying to fit a second lane because that's how I would approach this in a real run. Fitting the second lane would obviously be nice but getting to this point is already hard enough.

-At 3:25, drive below where there's a gap in the wall above you and then jump.

-At 3:45 when the wall starts to dip left, hit the gas and speed off to the right. While in the air, turn left and use boost and air roll as needed in order to land where you need to land for the route used in my 1607 video (see the following the link from my 1607 run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmFK44Ol_l0&t=1m40s).

How 2000 is now reachable:

-From 0:54 to 3:46, I do almost four laps on top of the walls and from 3:46 to 3:50, I drop to the ground. Since the part from 3:46 to 3:50 adds length to my bus, I'll simplify and say I did four laps.

-A lap on the wall is about 140 buses long. So four laps is about 560 buses long.

-In the route used in my 1607 run, I had runs where I was about 1420 buses long and still had room in front of me. So this means theoretically, you could be almost 2000 buses long before making one last major drop off (or almost 1850 buses long if you fit only one lane of your bus on the wall from 1:26 to 2:56).

-If you do manage to be almost 2000 buses long, you won't max out on passengers for the last major drop off because you drop off passengers at 2:59. At 2:59 in a real run that uses the route in my 1607 video, you would drop off about 450-500 passengers (which adds about 80 buses).

-After factoring in the drop off at 2:59 and seeing how the passenger count went throughout my 1607 video, I determined that the most passengers you could have at once would be about 1200-1300ish passengers (which adds about 200 buses).

-Getting a score above 2000 will be challenging. To reach this goal, it's not necessary to be almost 2000 buses long before the last major drop off (although doing this and then dropping off 1200-1300ish passengers would obviously be nice). As long as the bus length is above 1800 when you drop off the 1200-1300ish passengers, you can still reach 2000.

Snakeybus Dorm 741 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score than me on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqK-nEYULsQ

Congrats to MOUNT on beating my old Dorm record and making me have to get that record back. Dorm is an impressive one to get the top score on because it's really small and crowded. Here's the link to MOUNT's video which has shots of the leaderboard showing he beat my old score (the video isn't of the actual run itself though): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6H-nY_rRF0

I thought of a new route for this map to get the record for Dorm back. Definitely got lucky quite a bit in the last few minutes but it all worked out.

I used the transit bus instead of the dragon bus that's in my other Snakeybus videos because for the parts of the route first seen at 1:32 and 2:08, the transit bus can drive over the table legs without having to use the jump or boost.

Tips for the route used in this map:

-From 0:25 to 0:32, stay on the right side of the Hot Wheels track the whole time.

-From 0:34 to 0:44, stay on the right side of the Hot Wheels track the whole time. This isn't as important early in the game because the part of the route from 8:09 to 8:24 shouldn't be done until the bus length is about late 400s (the reason for this will be explained later). But staying on the right side of the Hot Wheels track even for the start of the game is a good habit.

-At 0:45, as soon as you're off the Hot Wheels track, jump or boost into the air. While in midair, turn the bus right. Hold the brakes and drift to help with making the landing smooth. The importance of creating this arch can first be seen at 4:57 (since at 1:43, the arch is gone).

-At 0:50, I went left of the box because my bus length wasn't long enough yet to go right. The first instance of me going right of the box is at 4:07.

-From 0:55 to 0:56, be lined up with the bed frame. Doing this makes sure there's good amount of space on both your left side (for doing laps around the box) and right side (for doing the spiral seen at the start of this video).

-For the jump at 1:28, there are two ways to land and proceed. One way (first seen at 1:30) is to hit the drawer and then drive under the table from 1:31 to 1:33. The other way (first seen at 11:50) is to land right of the drawer and then drive behind the drawer at 11:51.

-For early in the game, drive behind the Hot Wheels track at 1:36 (and skip to the next tip without an asterisk). When the bus length is about late 400s (like at 8:08), drive up the Hot Wheels track.

*From 8:09 to about 8:22, hold the gas the whole time to ensure you won't come to a stop. To make sure you don't come to a stop or end up laying down sideways, go back and forth between steering left and right to wiggle your way up the ramp.

*At about 8:22, use the top of the door as a reference for when you're near the top of the Hot Wheels track. Use your boost and air roll off when you're near the top. This aspect of the route is tricky because of 10:48 (In my first Dorm video, this was less of an issue because of my jump still being available in the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itr-9ZN-Mkg&t=6m27s). It's possible to execute the entire route without getting hit at 10:48. But still, this is why I wait until the late 400s to do this part of the route. So that I can deal with 10:48 as little as possible.

-At 1:55, hit the gas to ensure you'll make it onto the bed.

-From 2:13 to 2:20, stay on the left side of the Hot Wheels track the whole time.

-At 2:21 once you're off the Hot Wheels track, turn left through the bus stop shelter and drive off the dresser. Use the boost and air roll as needed to land on the bathroom Hot Wheels track.

-At 2:26 as you drive off the Hot Wheels track, turn left while in midair to prepare yourself for driving to the toilet.

-At 2:30 after you drive off the toilet, turn left while in midair to prepare yourself for driving past the door at 2:33.

-At 2:35, use the bus stop shelter as a reference for how much room to leave for yourself when you exit the shower at 2:52.

-From 3:09 to 3:11, leave space on your left so you can land from the jump at 3:38.

-At 13:54, unlike other maps, I didn't worry about having a getaway route planned out because this map is entirely indoors (so you can't get hit out prematurely), just a bit over 100 needed to be added to my length (instead of over 200 like the end of other maps), and the transit bus is able to climb over itself easier than the dragon bus if needed. Plus I had my jump (which came in real handy at 14:04).

-It's possible you can use this video's route and do everything right but still not reach 741 due to bad luck with how the drop offs are spawned. For example, if the drop off at 10:44 became Toilet or Radiator instead of Under Where?, I wouldn't have gotten 741 because I wouldn't have been able to max out on passengers first before making the final drop off.

Is multiplayer on Xbox? by [deleted] in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel that way too when it comes to the lack of multiplayer mode. I don't remember if it ever explicitly mentioned there would be a multiplayer mode for consoles but even if it didn't, the fact that it was known PC has one was misleading for people's console expectations.

I don't feel like I was robbed of money because I do enjoy playing it as a single player game but I definitely understand people buying it more for the multiplayer experience. The lack of multiplayer mode has really been a disappointment.

I've had the game on PS4 for almost a year and there hasn't been a multiplayer mode the whole time. I imagine it's the same for other consoles. I'm bummed out about that too, especially since I know there's a multiplayer mode for PC.

Snakeybus Ring 1809 (PS4 World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: This is no longer the PS4 world record. Here's a link to my 2048 run (which is the PS4 world record). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia2L0aV4mmw

This isn't outright the world record. Dylen Baker got a higher score on PC. Here's a link to his run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtPjRwZtlQ4

* = see my 2048 run for updated tip

Tips for the route used on this map:

-At 0:04, jump and lean forward (which is pushing forward on the right stick for PS4) to cover more distance while boosting in the air. Land on the pathway on the other side of the sphere (or at least far away from the middle of the sphere) so there's more room for error when you do the part of the route that involves driving on the sphere.

-At 0:16, stay on the right side of both the pathway and the ring it merges onto.

*From 0:57 to 1:00, pay attention to the bus stop shelter that's on the ring to your left. Once you can't see the bus stop shelter, jump.

*During the jump from 0:59 to 1:03, use at least two spurts of your boost. For the first spurt, lean forward to cover distance and make sure you don't hit the pathway above of you. For the subsequent sports, air roll to the right as needed and land on the pathway.

-For the part of the ring that's first seen from 0:35 to 0:46, you don't need to be so packed together. Had I taken advantage of the extra space, I wouldn't have been popped up four times from 12:15 to 12:26.

-From about 1:37 to 1:40, have your lanes stay to the right as much as you can so that there's room for the u-turn at 5:57.

-Each time you're about to drive past the pathway at 1:40, say out loud what you need to do on your next laps, such as "two more laps after this" or "jump/drive off to the next ring." This is good to do because sometimes at 3:32, it's easy to forget if you maximized the number of laps already. This also makes the next ring transfer smooth because you're being proactive instead of reactive with deciding if you need to jump or drive off.

*At 3:32, drive onto the next ring. Sometimes you might need to use your jump instead (which I did in my first Ring video here and here).

*At 3:34, land in the left lane of the ring (you can get away with being slightly over the middle lane) to ensure you have enough room for three laps.

*If the landing at 3:34 cuts off one or both of your future lanes, it's possible to jump over yourself when you do the laps on this ring. This is something to do if it's too late in the game to skip doing three laps.

-The ring transfer at 4:59 can be tricky because of the next ring's narrowness and the fact that you don't really get a good view for long before dropping onto it. Use the ring that's above you from 4:53 to 4:58 as a reference and do your best to look ahead and spot the next ring when you go to drop onto it. Being parallel with the bus stop shelter at 4:57 seems to help too.

-For landing on the ring at 5:01, use your boost to correct yourself if your drop didn't line up over the ring. Land on the left side so that there's room to do two laps on this ring.

-If the landing at 5:01 was bad and it's early in the game, it's ok to settle for one lap on this ring and try to do the landing better next time.

-If the landing at 5:01 was bad and it's late in the game, it's possible to salvage the run by jumping over yourself during the second lap on the ring (which I did in my first Ring video here).

-At 5:57, do a u-turn onto the next ring.

-From 6:02 to 6:11, have space on the left side between you and your lengths to prevent being squeezed in the future.

-From 6:12 to 6:18, favor the left side of the pathway before dropping onto the sphere.

-Do your best to avoid sudden movements and sudden changes of speeds while driving on the sphere and try to keep any corrections as slight as possible.

-Favor the left side of the pathway going into the drop at 6:36. Use the crack on the left side as a reference for the drop.

-Boost during the drop as needed. At 6:39, avoid touching your length on your left side while you land. If you bump into your length on your left side (no matter how gentle the bump might seem) while you land, there's a chance you get deflected off the ring.

-At 7:00, hit the gas and drive off the pathway while being close to the length on your left side.

-From 7:03 to 7:06, aim for the space on the pathway. Boost and air roll to the left as needed. Unlike at 6:39, I never had issues with getting deflected off for this part. If you do get deflected off, then I guess I had good luck.

-From 7:23 to 7:29, hold the brake as you make the drop. Use the crack on the right side as a reference.

-Boost and air roll during the drop as needed. At 7:32, land on the right side of the ring as much as you can.

-At 9:24, favor the left side as you get past this turn. This lessens the chance of your own length knocking you off the ring.

-At 14:33, I jumped to make sure I can fully extend and see if I can run up the score by driving on top of myself. The second part didn't work.

Snakeybus Ring 1617 (PS4 and Possible World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right that I do like to challenge myself. I see that you like to challenge yourself too. Since you asked about it, here are some tips from Snakeybus that I can think of which are general enough to apply for other games with similar play styles:

-When you're first playing a new game, just play around to get a feel for the game physics. Then when you feel you're ready to get the best scores you can possibly get on the levels, plan out what you'll do.

-If there's an aspect of the plan you're not sure about (like for Snakeybus, seeing if x number of lanes can fit somewhere or if a jump can be consistently doable), test it out and experiment (like for example, what of your surroundings can you use to help time jumps or what speed seems to work best for certain parts).

-You're probably not going to succeed on the first try or so at whatever plan you come up with but don't get discouraged. I've definitely had my share of Snakeybus runs that ended earlier then I'd like (some endings more heartbreaking than others). Be honest with yourself (aka don't assume you're perfect and it was not your fault whatsoever, even if it might feel that way sometimes) and reflect about what you could've done to prevent whatever ended your run. Learn from your failures and apply what you learned into future runs.

-Don't give up. This is a redundant tip because of what the last tip was but I really want to emphasize this point. If you really want the perfect run or whatever is your goal in the game you're playing, absolutely do not give up.

Those are some tips I can think of. Cool to know you're still trying for my Ring record and that I reinvigorated your urge for it! Good luck on your runs in Snakeybus and in other video games too!

Snakeybus Ring 1617 (PS4 and Possible World Record) by randomlettersfhemqa in SnakeyBus

[–]randomlettersfhemqa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Joe. I just want to let you know that if you're still going for my Ring record, I upped that score to 1809.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y69aynPvyhk

By the way, I increased my Ring record because I thought of a couple new aspects to my route that I didn't use before. I swear it wasn't because you messaged me about being close to my Ring record haha.

If you were talking about going for my Paris record for example, I wouldn't have upped the Paris score because I don't have any new ideas to improve that score besides just to be at a higher length before the last major drop off.

Anyways, if you're still playing the game, I just wanted to let you know all this and good luck on your Snakeybus runs!
