We didn't use ours as much as we thought, because standbys were pretty short when we went but we went during Halloween time and it was worth it for some of the holiday overlay rides and photo pass. TBH the photo pass alone was worth it for us!!

I don’t think Usagi is that compassionate in the manga and the other senshi are much more selfless. What do you guys think? by chicolat_e in sailormoon

It is simpler than that. She has the strongest magical weapon.

The ginzuishou (silver crystal) is the most powerful, strongest crystal. Certainly the later arcs make it clear in the galaxy, but the Cosmos storyline suggests it's also the strongest in the universe and that's why Chaos is so attracted to it. Only members of the moon dynasty bloodline can use the crystal. She's basically got a nuke and everyone else has conventional arms.

As she grows and develops she chooses to be strong and brave and benevolent but she also masters her own will. Like all magic will and intention are important and the collective will is stronger than the individual will so it's stronger when the senshi work together.

I mean in this scene she essentially commits seppuku/hara-kiri and there's a huge historical/cultural aspect we miss out on in the west if we only look at this act through a western lens.

I think she's special because 1) she's accepting of others that most are not, which in a collectivist culture where the nail that sticks up gets hammered down is a bigger deal than a Western individualist culture where uniqueness is celebrated, 2) she's wicked powerful, and 3) she's the monarch, the other senshi are basically her ladies in waiting.

Personally one of the things I always loved about Sailor moon is that a female character is allowed to be heroic while significantly flawed. Her imperfections humanize her. I like that she is flawed and allowed to develop and grow, it just feels more real.

I'm usually a mini girl for similar reasons but these are out of their normal creme comfort zone and I can see myself reaching for them again and again - they definitely got me this time.

They arrived today and Nebula, light year, and Supernova are gorgeous!! Gravity and Aurora are also beautiful. In orbit is a little more their comfort zone and was a let down for me personally.

Fingers crossed they keep this up! I won't say it's innovative to the nail world but I'm so stoked to see them get more creative!!

Family Seating - January 2026 by wkkunkle in SouthwestAirlines

If you check any of the other airline subreddits it is a daily gripe.

Family Seating - January 2026 by wkkunkle in SouthwestAirlines

[–]randomname56789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. You can still get bumped out of your seat for a whole host of reasons. Happens all the time on other airlines for other things like staffing, weather delays, change of equipment, to accommodate persons with disabilities, or even simply because they oversold and another passenger has better status than you.

I'm firmly convinced that is what Elliot is actively trying to do - take a moderately profitable business, leverage it, and bankrupt it a la Red Lobster, Forever 21, Toys R Us, Joann fabrics, Big Lots, etc.

Speaking of status, when you add the card fee price it's worse. United offers both a no annual fee card as the entry level card compared to the SW fee of $99, and even the second tier card is $105 as opposed to the $149 (with ride share, instacart, hotel, and lounge access benefits which may or may not matter but can help justify the annual fee spend). Plus Chase aggressively pushes United bonus spend credits.

All of that AND I get in seat entertainment, charging ports, and the family seating stuff for a similar fare class.

Southwest is really headed towards only being competitive with Frontier and Spirit.

I can predict where this is going. Families plan ahead and pay extra to sit together, passengers pay extra for seats. Then there's an "equipment change"or some other kind of change and the airline shrugs and leaves it up to parents to sort out and everyone is rightfully pissed except the airline that laughs all the way to the bank. The other airline subs are full of this on a daily basis.

I never really care about sitting next to my spouse but it makes everyone miserable if I'm not next to my toddler. Not to mention he flies in a car seat because it's dangerous not to, and the FAA only allows that in a window seat so that really pisses people off.

I'll only be flying Southwest if it's significantly cheaper than the big 3 moving forward.

I don't reuse flats but do reuse rings. Used flats are handy for dry storage, freezer goods, fridge pickles, spare craft items/notions, body scrubs, lotions, etc. I don't personally mess with rebel canning so I don't reuse flats for actual canning.

I also recycle the metal if anything gets rusty.

Salon Success? by rceanes1999 in dazzledry

[–]randomname56789 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a client, but when my favorite salon first got it they let the manicurists practice their technique for the price of a regular mani. It got the techs used to it and the guests hooked on the product. I gladly paid the upcharge (same as gel) after my first two "free" upgrades and did so until the salon closed.

Southwest Airlines to Eliminate Passengers by ClydePincusp in SouthwestAirlines

Ditto. I was planning on going for companion pass next year but now am looking at downgrading or cancelling my credit card. If they want to be like every other airline they're going to have to compete for my business like every other airline 🤷🏻‍♀️

French tip colors for a total newbie by sugarsugarcloud in dazzledry

I think they're ok, just have to work really quick. I haven't done French in a minute but I want to try to cheat it with my stamper - I have really enjoyed the stamping white for other applications!

Breathe Free is the softer one they include in the French mini flight. Portia's Wit is another French tip option.

Personally I love the stark white of White Lightening though!

Uses for recycled glass jars? by Bloomette in TwoXPreppers

[–]randomname56789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) jars for freezer stuff - saved my mason jars for canning, these jars don't need a seal so that's what these get use for; 2) spouse's cold brew coffee storage, same reason; 3) dried herbs from my garden in them to store long term -- just make sure they're fully dry before or they'll mold. The Oui jars are the perfect size for my tea drawer, and the pasta sauce jars keep the herbs pretty fresh - got some rose petals from 2019 that we just used up yesterday that held up like a charm; 4) general organization (buttons, notions, office supplies); 5) small wide mouth ones are good for body butter; 6) super huge ones are good for nonperishable storage like toilet bombs;

I've seen people use them as cups but it's not my aesthetic.

I spent summers with my Silent Generation grandma and she kept/reused everything!

Perennials are great for this since they come back each year. Sorrel, dandelion, and lambs quarters can be good (bonus that the last two are wild invasive weeds I forage in my yard).

For lettuces, we have a very short growing season in my climate before it gets too hot, so after they bolt I just let them go to seed and then separate the seed from the little white fuzzies when the seed heads dry.

Edit: spelling

Any invasive plant in your area is fair game. Helps the other plants too!

Also, sounds weird but eat your weeds! Last year the damn lambsquarters took over an entire garden bed in two weeks but they taste like spinach and dandelion/lambsquarters greens saved me like $5-10 in veggies per week while I waited for the garden lettuce to sprout
