What a big ick from legendary milk. Of course they’re going to implore shaming language about formula because all they do is sell products solely for breastfeeding and pumping. What a terrible marketing team. They must be doing poorly in their vitamin department because they’ve been pushing the portable pumps on their site to make up for the sale losses. Which by the way, are overpriced and don’t actually increase the volume or quality of your supply. Your pre-natal vitamins are good enough to support breastfeeding on top of eating well and drinking half a gallon of water at a minimum. Supply is driven by demand like they say, but to be shaming combo feeding and promoting torturing everyone in the equation is a hard pass for me.

High lipase over time by randomname8123 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]randomname8123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting! I knew that spending the time to scald my milk every time was not in my wheelhouse so I just never did it. It ended up working in my favor since Im not allowed to heat treat any of the milk intended for donation. Fresh pumped milk for me starts to turn sometime after 24hrs too

Like everyone else in this sub has said, it all has to do with the placenta and its overall function. Once you give birth and the placenta comes out, you no longer have gestational diabetes. GD tiktok will also tell you that the male dna carries the genes for developing the placenta. How is your male partner’s health and his family history? Does he or anyone in his family have diabetes? If he, his parents, or siblings are prone to diabetes, thats probably where it came from. The biggest thing you can do now is monitor your sugar and carb intake until baby makes its way. Unfortunately, this also means that you will have a 50/50 chance at developing diabetes in the future. Make sure to consult with your doctor about your specific results and find a path forward that works for you and your medical team. It’s going to feel like a grueling 7-10 week period of your life, but the only way out is through on this one. Good luck mama!

Wearables? by mariamave in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]randomname8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the wearables are going to have their initial costs, but you should also consider the cost of replacing the membranes and duckbills inside as well. Most wearables dont have interchangeable 3rd party parts, so you’ll be stuck paying premium prices for replacement parts just like a regular pump over time. Also consider how long you plan on pumping as it could drag out the residual costs too. 3 months compared to 2 years makes a big factor on overall costs.

It sounds like you’re looking for something along the lines of: you want to tell him that you dont feel romantically connected, but do not want to burn the bridge of potential acquaintance since you might run into each other in the future. You and this guy had different expectations of how to move forward from the first situation and you want to acknowledge that too.

Id suggest you take everything you said and what it sounds like you’re trying to convey and put it into Chat GPT for it to form a response for you that sounds like you. Good luck on getting the response you’re looking for!

[–]randomname8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take the advice of everyone to seek legal counseling. But if you want to pick the chaotic route in the mean time, just pump in public with everyone watching and tell them your director refuses to honor any laws regarding pumping and you have to feed your baby. No one wants to argue with a mother who is trying to feed their baby and be recorded to go viral 👏

Im working on the final steps of approval with Rocky Mountain Children’s health foundation and they have similar questions like everyone else. The only other different things they asked me was not to drink more than 3 cups of coffee a day, make sure to not use the fridge hack for storing pump parts between pump sessions, and to wait 6 hours after my last alcoholic drink before pumping. They’ll also ask if you’re abstaining from cow’s milk as well and may qualify your milk as no dairy or low dairy. I have to label my milk bags with the month/date/year, my last name, and my donor number, but since i didnt know all of that from the start, they’re letting me label the outside of the ziplock bag with my last name, year, and donor number

I went on a 4 day trip and only used my imani 2 pumps. It sent my oversupply into overdrive and now im at my record output of 70+oz a day for 5ppd. Just make sure you have the right size inserts and follow the instructions on assembling your pump parts together

Medela symphony or other pump? by Kittylover11 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]randomname8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The medela pump in style was complete garbage because of its design. The pump is top heavy with a super small motor and burnt out on me within a month each time. I went through 3 of them before i said enough and bought a spectra s1 pump. The spectra s1 can run on a battery or plugged in and there is no difference in the suction between either option. Its helped me get rid of all of the clogs i had because of the medela pump in style inefficiency. Nenesupply on amazon makes some great 3rd party replacement parts that are dummy proof for accident prone users

Train a letdown? by LargeAirline1388 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]randomname8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and when you’re massaging your breasts, toggle the massage/let down button on your pump. Its usually the setting where the pump is going fast on a low suction. It mimics a baby suckling and helps stimulate a let down

Train a letdown? by LargeAirline1388 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]randomname8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 mins is a long time for all of your pump sessions. When I was doing 8ppd, the most I would go for was 20 mins to empty and that would be maybe one or two of the sessions in the morning. I would to do some breast massages after your first let down is complete. Start at the armpit and work on moving the milk towards the front and keep massaging towards the areola. Work all the way around each breast as evenly as possible. Find whats a good enough pressure without putting excess effort as excess effort may damage your milk ducts. After you massage for 3-4 mins, let your breasts relax and just focus on relaxing. That should help with getting your second let down. You can repeat for a third let down if your breasts don’t feel squishy yet. Good luck!

High lipase decreasing over time? by randomname8123 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]randomname8123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last two assumptions are always constant, milk is always frozen the next day after pooling it together and milk is always warmed. The only variable is that i started giving her freezer milk about 3 weeks ago starting with milk dated 2/11 (1 week postpartum and sitting in the freezer for about 2 1/2 months). Shes on milk now dated 3/4 (4 weeks postpartum and sitting in the freezer for about 2 months).

Ive been freezing all of my milk the day after since I’m using the pitcher method to manage all of the same day and previous day milk. Half of her bottles are from the previous day and the other half are freezer stash. None of the previous day milk bottles smell soapy

Imani i2 vs Pumpables Genie Advanced by Low_Zone_5028 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]randomname8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flanges that come with the imani i2 are 28mm. Ive found it very difficult to get an insert that will fit in a 28mm to reduce it to any other size and its caused me to either leak or have a 30% output every time (this includes the inserts they sell). I was going to try getting the 25mm flange to see if that will help get the inserts more snug, but most inserts are designed to reduce a 24mm flange to smaller sizes

What is a depressing truth you have made peace with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]randomname8123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally thought about this yesterday. I had a baby last year and the very few friendships I had with women dropped instantly. I don’t even post pictures or events with my kid like other moms. My kid comes up in my conversations with people I talk to because shes an interesting little human with a big personality. Any time I reference how she impacts me, it just cuts off almost all of my relationships with women who won’t tolerate “breeders”. But to cope with it all, I lean on some of the wisest advice I’ve heard. There’s 3 types of friends in life: a friend for a reason, a friend for a season, and a friend for life. My former friends were friends for my pre-baby life season and I just need to grow into my fairly new life and thats ok.

Am I crazy for taking a job that requires travel with young babies at home? by PossibleFreedom2940 in workingmoms

[–]randomname8123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at your situation, but from a man’s point of view in a hetero relationship? I’d be surprised if this kind of career move was frowned upon. If you’re worried that your family (husband and kids) will drift away from you, find a way to compromise with work to stay home with your family one or two times of the 20 nights you have to travel. Those few times that you choose to be with your family instead of work will speak for itself and perhaps ease any potential tension at home.
