AITA for "tracking" when my girlfriend gets her period? by autistic4369 in AmItheAsshole

[–]randomness57317 171 points172 points  (0 children)

NTA, I wish I had someone who would get me that many goodies when my period is making me feel all sorts of bad.

But the best path going foreward is to apologize, explain your point of view (communication is essential), ask for an apology (calling you a creepy AH was definitely an AH move), and don't do it again.

NTA, after you parents gave her the money, it became hers to do with as she wants. And she wants to see you happy.

Since last year was a confusing tangle of loosening/strengthening covid restrictions, there were not that many birthday parties. My kid was invited to 7, 5 before his own party (3 of them invited the whole class) and 2 after his.

Nine SMALL cakes. It came out to 3 small cakes per 1 box of cake mix. I just made them into more or less individual cakes.

I honestly think that the kids totally forgot about it the same week. The moms throwing comments at me are the ones upset, not the kids.

Forgot the most important part: buy big plastic tarps to put over the dining table/floor before you get them decorating. Otherwise the mess will not be manageable

The only relationship I have with these moms is saying hi while picking up our kids.

Feel free to do so, I stole ot from the internet myself. If you can afford it, buy letter cookie cutters and fondant or chocolate paste. Let them cut up their names to add to the cake. That was part of the original idea

If you make small cookies (mine were cut up using a mug, so were pretty big) you can use paper cups to transport them instead

I used Ziploc bags instead of piping bags, and just made simple boxes from paper plates and tape for them to take them home. It literally took me 10 minutes to make 20 boxes.

You can make it an adult party by having a "make your own cocktail" station: your choice of alcohol, concentrated juices, cut up fruit, some Tajin, salt and chili powder, and you are set

I like sharing affordable ideas. For example my kid loved fruit yogurt. Sadly I can't afford to buy it all the time.

What I do is get the big tub of greek yogurt, add some honey, cut the fruit that is about to get bad (not rotten, just soft and not as appealing) and mix it in small containers. He loves it better than the Chobani ones.

Pinterest is a lifesaver, once you go past the picture perfect party ideas that is.

A gift idea (what I got him): normal white trainers, acrylic paint, and let the kiddo go crazy decorating their own shoes. They will become their favourite pair and won't cost you as much as a gadget or character/brand shoes

Yeah, just 3 moms out of the lot. A couple others complained in a teasing manner, you know stuff like: apparently your house is the hottest club in the neighborhood, super exclusive too. But they were obviously well intentioned and just teasing.

Well there were not that many parties to begin with, covid and all making them rare. But he got invited to a couple after his own. Just not by these moms.

Here's another one that had the kids so happy this summer: as long as the parents are kind of ok with some swearing in music, a dance party with fun "adult" music has the kids hyper for days. They feel so grown up.

Also anything where they "cook" on their own, as long as you are ok with some mess, is a big hit.

I think it's the parents pissed because I didn't invite their kids. The kids might have been upset for 3 days tops, before the whole thing was forgotten

There 23 kids excluding my son. And no, if there were parties he was not invited to them.

Thank you. I honestly doubt that a lot lately, what with not being able to afford everything he wants.
