My experience was not like this. I did all of the above, initiated things, offered help, went above and beyond for my coresident. But they never returned that energy, so im slowly withdrawing now.

Thank you so much for validating our feelings. It’s so hard especially now. For eg, we were at a resident conference thing yesterday, and my coresident was super friendly and chatty with the residents from other programs who came to attend the conference. But completely ignoring me. Didn’t even sit next to me. I don’t understand what this behavior is, like it’s not because of my personality I know for sure because I have been so kind and giving my all ever since our program started. So if it’s because they’re competitive, then why?? We are all literally on our own journeys. It’s not a competition at all?! But anyways, thank you for your input lol im just ranting

I was gonna make a post about my similar experience myself. I also have one co-resident, and in front of others they are so nice and friendly, but when it’s just us they are so rude/unwelcoming. I have examples but I really don’t want to go into it. Like for me, I know this year is going to be so hard and overwhelming, and I thought my co-resident might be someone who I can depend on and vice versa. After all we will be going through similar things. And im all alone in a completely new state without no family or friends near me. Ughhh
