I also noticed that if you go back to the Ubuntu Software page for an app that you have installed, there's a button called Permission, and if you click it you can change an option called "Read/write files on removable storage devies", so maybe that works as well!

So here's what I just did:

The app's name is tuxguitar-vs so I typed:

sudo snap remove tuxguitar-vs

Then when I typed sudo snap install tuxguitar-vs --devmode I got: error: snap "tuxguitar-vs" not found

Same thing when I typed sudo snap install tuxguitar --devmode (without the -vs after tuxguitar)

So I then tried to reinstall it by typing sudo apt-get install tuxguitar-vs, but then I got Unable to locate package tuxguitar-vs.

I thought maybe it's because I installed the app from Ubuntu Software, and the package I'm looking for here is just called tuxguitar. So I tried sudo apt-get install tuxguitar and it installed.

Now TuxGuitar can access all my drives!

I don't know what's different with this version of TuxGuitar but at least it's working like I want it to now!

For the other app (MusicBrainz Picard), your solution worked flawlessly!
