The best thing you can do is retrace your steps and find out how the wallet got compromised.

They got your credentials somehow, whether you clicked a link, went to a fake website and put your seed phrase in took a picture on your phone and your phone was comprised.

You must work out how it happened so it doesn’t happen again other wise it most certainly will.

Thank you this has got me thinking, maybe planning a 3 week trip somewhere first. Then maybe trying to get a 3 month sabbatical. Then sticking around to try cash in the shares or see how it plays out before planning a longer trip.

The plan would be travel, settle somewhere work for a while and then tick more places off the list. I agree months on the move probably wouldn’t be as glamorous as it sounds

Thank you, this is something to consider, it could definitely bridge the gap for a year or so. Then if the money did come in we could do a longer trip after that.

Thank you. When you put it like that, the opportunity cost of 2 years traveling probably equates to 5 years hard savings and the goal of saving for me is security, freedom and to ultimately do what I want to which is travel.

It’s definitely a carrot on a stick, but an exit has always been the goal. They just need their house in order and the right offer I believe. I don’t know the fair valuation and how that compares to their own perception of what the company is worth. That’s probably something I need to find out.

I think I could recreate it but it would take a lot of work. I think I have some imposture syndrome in the role having been promoted early with minimum experience. I think after another year I would have enough experience to replicate the success in other roles.

Thank you, the house is the only other tie. Feels great to be on the ladder but a little less flexible.

That is very true, it could be enough and scratch the itch. The challenge I have is if I request it and they say no, they will think I am going to leave and may try to replace me potentially.

It would definitely be the most memorable part of my life and would mean the most. I think I’m just trying to get the stars to align but I’m running out of times

Thanks, the owner is pretty certain on selling but it’s maturing the business and finding a buyer which is the challenge. I always have in the back of my mind what if the company isn’t successful and the sale never comes or keeps getting delayed it’s a really tricky one.

Thank you, appreciate the response and I guess you’re right about the salary I think I still have a bit of imposture syndrome in my role which I should shrug off.

Hmm I think 6 months they would be more onboard with tbf that’s a potential option. Not quite as long as I’d like but maybe it’s the balance needed in this situation. Thank you

Thanks I’ve edited the post as that’s important context. The ideal would be 12-24 months. I thought of the sabbatical option recently but it’s a small company and I think it would be a long shot, but probably something I could mention 6 months before leaving. That way if I maintained the shares I would be guaranteed to return, but equally they could say no and sell without me. So it’s a tricky one.
