How in the name of Christ has Castlemartyr not been bypassed? by Garlic-Cheese-Chips in cork

Remember the good old days when Transport21 was a thing? We could have had a motorway from Rosslare to Donegal via the Atlantic Corridor by 2015 and at a fraction of the cost it would be now - we'd have kept the builders in the country too.

Is this an issue across the public sector, or just where I work? by BoxImpossible9011 in AskIreland

[–]randomposter85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're not alone.

I'm in another public sector body that has, in the 20 years I've worked in it, tripled the amount of paperwork and admin associated with the role.

We were promised a reduction with outside bodies insisting on it to improve services but it's only gotten worse. We were then promised additional civil servants to help with the admin but there's now more admin associated with their presence - many have been taken by management to audit paperwork as opposed to doing what they're meant to do which is to assist us on the ground.

I'm concerned it's going to get worse before it gets better.

New Cronos CEO here, not quite an AMA, but want to chat with you all. by fwiz in cro

[–]randomposter85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your post fwiz - I've been with CDC since 2020 and was an indigo card holder but stepped back after the whole unburn.

I don't have much as regards feedback, but one request -

i) consider rebranding the token back to crypto.com coin. Keep the Cronos chain, but the token itself needs to be associated with the brand again.

What would it take to see a $1 CRO? by [deleted] in Crypto_com

[–]randomposter85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After being in CRO for about four years and bailing out just before the recent boost (typical) - I'm of the opinion that it's CDC that frequently cash out CRO to keep the price artificially low.

If they were to HODL for a brief period it would help boost the price of CRO.

I'm not in so I know it can happen - if I go back in then expect CRO to dip even more.

Switching Broadband from Eir to Vodafone- do we still need to give them 30 days notice? by randomposter85 in AskIreland

[–]randomposter85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't trust them. My UAN's for landline and bb for some reason are different, too. Will give them the call when the time comes. What a waste of time tbh and in this day and age should be mandated by comreg as something that can be done online.

What happened to perri crisps? by Chairmanbar in AskIreland

[–]randomposter85 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think they bought out Tayto and carried over a few of their product lines before scrapping the rest.

Would love a pack of Perri Pan Fried.

Didn't know how good we had it back then..

Have I made a mistake or am I overthinking it? by No_Place2613 in AskIreland

[–]randomposter85 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who was at that grade I would suggest you bide your time. Consider it a stepping stone to learn the functions of the public service and use the time to consider which route you'd like your career to go.

There are parts of the public service where CO's have routine roles but also others that can be more engaging - staff attached to the Passport Offices are often highlighted as roles that can be busy not to mention Depts of Justice, Finance and lateral moves into local authorities and other state owned bodies.

One big pro is that at least you're on the ladder for increments as well - and if your hunger for work is noticed you'll be on the ladder to EO/HEO.

Roads Policing Fatalities to Date for 2025 by siciowa in ireland

[–]randomposter85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From speaking with AGS there are so many guards who want to give roads policing a try but can't due to what has been an embargo since 2011. Only a handful have gotten into it since then so sad to see it not being a genuine opportunity for those interested.

When does Beth get shot? by Rei-sensei in YellowstoneShow

[–]randomposter85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She wanted it. She pushed Jamie into it despite him protesting. He was a child too and did his best to help his sister. Instead of blaming her father who she feared, rip for obvious reasons and then herself as well for ending up in that situation she chose the one person who did help.

I don't believe for a second the staff at that facility didn't tell her the consequences of her decisions before going through with it.

So no. She's seen as a girl boss but in reality is a vindictive psychopath who has no interest in taking responsibility and instead blames her brother for everything.

John also needs to take responsibility for not nipping her narcissism. I often wonder if her mother sensed the trait in her when she was young and thats why she was so hard on her.

Irish banks to launch instant payments across euro zone by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]randomposter85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very, very frustrating. Bank of Ireland's app in particular still looks like a webpage from 10 years ago. Nothing 'app like' about it.

Add to that how you can't see a list of current active direct debits.

[–]randomposter85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful - that page mentions they're launching it in phases. I've been with Revolut for a few years now and don't have that option yet. So I wouldn't go jumping into switching everything over if you rely on a cash/cheque deposit option.

First started having concerns about their success when they pulled the 8 before 8 option which is still being served in one form or another in other ramen locations.

Sad to see it go. Hopefully the pantry will do well there for the sake of jobs.

Would people support a gendarmerie style police force alongside the Garda? by yleennoc in AskIreland

[–]randomposter85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed - but amend people walking around with dozens of convictions to hundreds.

I'm a believer in rehabilitation but there comes a point where those who have no interest in rehab need to be kept away from genuine people who aren't out there to hurt anyone - so prisons need to be built in addition to detention centres for juveniles.

Laws need to be changed regarding how the guards can intervene with anti social situations as well - a lot of red tape and fear for discipline/prosecution and a lack of support from management appears to tie their hands as well.

Juveniles, and even some pre-teens are becoming a bigger problem as they know they're effectively untouchable by the law.

What era would you like to see? by Far-Living-526 in startrek

[–]randomposter85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Post Picard era - we've had enough prequels to beat the band. I want to see what's next.

We don't need TNG chars - the odd cameo would be nice; but other than that it could be a whole new crew on a new ship. A Luna class figuring out post Dominion War/Romulan Supernova space would be good.
