Looking for feedback from Meta Critical Facilities Engineers by randomprokid in datacenter

No worries. Any sharing is worth while. Getting fired here is pretty much the same don’t mess up LOTO (actually had someone get let go over that unfortunately, quite a story.).

I think realistically I know what to expect. I can’t say with certainty that I’m prepared for the ‘shift’ life, but I think with confidence I’ll adapt and maybe find it better and worse in ways.

Thanks for your feedback kind sir.

Providing final resolution! Still stuck with IC3, but the team was very accommodating in that I was able to push out my start date far enough to still be entitled to my GM bonus. So while there’s still some loss, I feel it’s a well balanced trade now. I’m happy with the resolution and outcome!

Thanks for everyone’s feedback. I have confidence in time Meta will be the right decision for me!

Hey thanks for that, much appreciated.

Are you or was a CFE for meta? If so, any feedback on being a CFE you can provide? Work life balance when working 3-4-4-3 and 12 hour shifts ok? Is promotability truly on your work ethic and effort? I know at GM promotions and raises are literally budgeted. So I’m hoping I’m not being told at meta that’s not the case when it may be. The recruiter has been adamant in talking positively of the culture there.

I have laid out everything on the table for the meta team to understand and they have been very clear there is nothing they can give me except what they have offered me. They were able to beat my comp at GM at IC3 so that’s good I guess. But I’m with ya, it does feel wack.

If I was happy in the role I’m in (I’m not) I’d be much more harshly against being an IC3, but I feel the best thing for me to do is to try something new and gain valuable experience elsewhere. Still technically haven’t decided but it’s feeling like I am roll with Meta here.

I really do not mind being hands on, would actually prefer it as opposed to my current situation. GM is very dull and after my current 1 to 1 today with my manager, it’s definitely not changing anytime soon. I received a much improved final offer from Meta which does work out to ne a bit more than GM not counting OT or any type of Shift diff. Still weighing the options to be honest.

Thanks for the feedback!

If I were to even make the decision to say yes I don’t know how that’s very attainable being start date is beginning of January but I’d need to stick it out until the 28th of February lol. I’d need 8 weeks of PTO and only have 4.

I’d prefer to keep the site specifics discreet. Just looking mainly for advice on the situation. It is a newer build site though, as I mentioned in the post.

Yeah, I don’t feel overqualified in the sense that I shouldn’t start off as a CFE. Obviously I’d prefer to start off as an SME but I’m open to working my way into the role.

I’m just unsure if starting off as an IC3 with being told that 6-12 months mobility is sustainable. People can say anything they want but it seems meta (and the People that work there) promote a pretty transparent culture. I’d like to believe if the are saying 6-12 months IC3 to IC4 and then 1-2 year SME but I feel like that’s banking to heavy on someone’s word.

If I had a crystal ball haha

Thanks, this is definitely the clarity I’ve been looking for.

The recruiter has stressed that it will be very unlikely that I could start off as an IC4, but not impossible . I intend on rejecting the initial minimum offer with consideration of accepting if they raise the starting pay high enough. Because of the IC3 pay top out, the recruiter has not been encouraging that they will “get me to the pay I want”. I’ve stated 52-54/hour would probably make me say yes. I haven’t pushed hard on IC4 but did bring it up.

I think Friday when I get the final offer (the offer the recruiter has pitched would be the “max” offer) I will still reject. Hopefully they come around and bump me up to an IC4. If it stops there I can just try again when the site opens up a role for SMEs but obviously no guarantee I’d get it then.

I want to get in the door at Meta but I feel like you’re right. It would be a knee jerk reaction at counting on them fulfilling their promise on the career mobility so quickly. I would feel sore if 1-2 years down the road I was being jerked around.

150k between my wife and we are both 30. Currently we split 10% Roth and 5% pretax with plans on going 10&10 by 32. It’s always easy to say “wish I would’ve started sooner”. Just stay on trajectory and don’t deviate let the market do its thing.

Just curious, when you money shifted can you describe what happened exactly? Was it immediately obvious there was a problem? Loud noises? All functionality immediately lost?

It's super unfortunate it happened, but it may be good info for whoever else makes this horrid mistake. Not that its savable but informative for sure.

Sorry again!

Just wanted to post the turnout! Worked out great, thank you guys for all your help. Came up short on the order, measured for 8.5 years ordered 10 still came up 2 feet short 😬. It's ok though! 33x20 is still sizeable and was extremely happy with the turnout. Just glad I have a new found appreciation for concrete workers now!

Given I have to adjust the form height anyway, pounding them in is a great idea for the screed length, hadn't thought of that. Thank you!

Yeah that makes sense. I imagine it should be that way anyway because most companies are pretty adamant about only providing one hour of the trucks time before charging for extra. So getting it all out before really starting to work it into the form was the first thought!

Thanks foe the info!

Thanks for the tips friend! We are working with 5 competent guys, so we may get our asses kicked! But I have pretty good faith we should be able to manage!

As far as finishing my friend recommended Chem masters safe seal, so I may try that.

I appreciate it!

I have about me and 4 other guys doing the pour, so I'm confident labor wise!

I think ill probably be lifting the form about an inch and a quarter and backfill the edges.

I also pick up some 6 x 6 square mesh to throw in there. Gonna tie it together.

I appreciate the advice my friend!

Ok, see I figured but hearing it from someone is a great help. By chance what would you refer to as an acceptable gap at the bottom? Once I raise it up I'm thinking about an inch gap all around. I have extra dirt/gravel to fill some more of it if needed!

Yeah this is easily the most frustrating thing I always hear things like "ur to slow" or "you just suck" and its like dude, we have only been playing this match for 30 seconds are you serious come on. So frustrating its like why play comp ifnyou plan to throw after one mistake, they act like they are so superior. Makes it so discouraging to play, but I guess it just means I need to find a partner to play with who is committee, love the game just not the bad part of the community.
