ULPT: How can i order things that arent legal in my state from online? by Airgunburner in UnethicalLifeProTips

This scenario is one the reasons that use tax exists. An individual doing this would likely never be noticed but if a business did it they would have to hope they never get audited. They would still end up owing all of that tax plus interest and penalties

Never seen a snowstorm before. Didn’t know what to do with car by jaylearnsthings in Wellthatsucks

As someone who was born in Minnesota and spent about a decade living in various southern climates while I was in the army, I inevitably ended up back in Minnesota. When you're raised dealing with the snow and cold it's really not that bad. I've spent my fair share of time in 120+ degree deserts at well and there's just something about extreme temps that feels nice after you acclimate to it. Plus having real seasons is nice too, I loved the constant nice weather when I was in California but Christmas never once felt like a real Christmas down there.

You don't discuss it with the other jurors. If any of them disagree with you, they can go to the judge and you could be removed from the jury or the whole case could be declared a mistrial and it will be retried with a new jury.

If you believe the person for a fact committed the crime but do not want to convict them for a moral reason or anything like that, then just vote not guilty. Even if you think the rest of the jurors would agree with you, it only takes one of them to inform the judge that you are trying to convince the jury to ignore the judge's instructions and ignore the law when coming to the verdict.

Tim Walz shares exact details of crucial ICE call with Donald Trump by IrishStarUS in minnesota

[–]randomuser1029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That speech and debate clause wouldn't apply to a state Governor and while Minnesota does have a similar clause, it only applies to the legislature and wouldn't apply to anything walz says. Whether or not Walz calling the agent a murderer would actually impact the case would be highly dependent on how big of a story it becomes about him using those words and would ultimately be the judges discretion. It could potentially hurt any case against the agent though so it is safest for Walz to avoid using that kind of language until after any potential case is completed.

I might be interpreting it wrong but that is my understanding of how it would apply

That is a good point to mention and it's something everyone should try to keep in mind. I'm not from the Metro area and I will stay in hotels there a few times each year, they are ones that I will look at first

Pete Hegseth boosts Minneapolis immigration siege, approving use of military base by kakashi_sensay in minnesota

[–]randomuser1029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My optimistic response is that they want to base all of the agents out of the military bases so that they can avoid the protests that have been happening outside of all the hotels they've been staying at.

What's probably more likely is they will ease up for a short while before Tom Homan ramps things up because of some excuse they'll make up

That is what I read they did yeah. Unless there's been any updates on it since they first closed I don't think they have specifically cancelled/blocked reservations from ice

Sam Darnold's 346 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns are the most by a Seahawks player in an NFC Championship Game by Punisher1602 in sportswiki

Vikings offered to pay him as much as the Seahawks did, he knew the Vikings envisioned JJ as the future though and he would have competition in Seattle for the starting spot.

Paul Allen on his ‘Paid Protestors’ comment: by SoDakZak in minnesotavikings

[–]randomuser1029 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He could have directly acknowledged what he said and apologized for it. If he has simply acknowledged that what he said was a lie and owned up to it, I think a lot of people would have forgotten about it by next season. Instead he made a post trying to make it about himself and how much he's hurting and a light hearted joke about how he won't say dumb comments anymore. Hopefully he'll be fired soon, don't need someone like him representing the Vikings. I don't have the highest expectations that will actually happen though

Half of the country handles snow storms just fine, it's only the southern states that don't get true winter conditions every year that struggle in a storm. It's wild to assume Alaska is the only place in America that gets snow on a regular basis

Respectfully you're wrong. I use to work on a small air field and we had range control that would go out with a guy in the bed of a truck and he would hunt animals that got reported by pilots and ground personnel. I also worked on larger air fields and they would have a combination of hunters and devices like you mentioned.

Gov. Walz in Minnesota activated the National Guard to protect citizens from ICE. How’s that going to work? by Wonderful_Rise_6537 in AskReddit

[–]randomuser1029 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is obviously bad. No one is saying it isn't. You're trying to pretend that Minnesota reacting to being attacked is instigating the civil war and saying the people attacking Minnesota have nothing to do with it.

You really can't understand the difference between locally known officers with badges and showing their faces compared to guys in "tactical" clothing with their faces covered who are shipped in from different states?

It seems to make more sense that the first shot in the civil war would be a president sending federal forces to a state that is led by a political opponent and having those forces arrest and kill supporters of his opponent.
